Generally Roblox like any other game isn't dangerous by itself it's more about the other users that are on the game that should be the concern, there are many cases of online dating, I don't know if Roblox has a disable chat option + friend request option but that would seem more appropriate to keep the platform safer (also promoting certified kids friendly game.)

Roblox is highly addictive due to its repetitiveness, my 9 year old was like a drug addict when asked to stop playing, due to this behavior we have banned him to play that game, definitely a questionable game

My two cents: platforms are the future of gaming and there is a lot of upside potential... But I agree we really need to get minors off the internet. And Nintendo is a great company for video games for kids. Much safer. Social media and platforms like Roblox will never have enough moderation to be truly safe spaces for kids. I have been in game lobbies with 8 year olds. I know I'm not a predator, but I've definitely seen some sus characters (there are definitely groomers out here). I like to channel my inner child sometimes and play games that are meant more for kids. But just because I know I am not a predator and don't mind kids doesn't mean that I think it is good for kids and adults to be put into random chatrooms together. These platforms should be for no younger than 16+ period. I'm frankly in favor of raising the social media age from 13-16 and keeping 16-21 Y/o chatter off the main internet. I don't wanna censor kids, but really the modern internet is too dangerous for kids without technically inclined parents. (Greatful for the channel and Davide's two cents) Just wanted to add my perspective as a game dev and aspiring father.

Parents beware: many of the top Roblox games incorporate game mechanics that mimic gambling, which can be highly addictive and foster the same obsessive behaviors as traditional gambling. What's even more concerning is that Roblox doesn't consider these games to be gambling because they don’t use real money, so they’re not blocked by any parental controls. However, these games target children who haven’t yet developed the ability to differentiate between real money and in-game money, making it the same in their minds. They spend Robucks or hours of grinding out games for coins only to lose them to a 0.1% chance of winning a rare item. Yet they’re encouraged to keep grinding when someone they know wins a rare item. I wasn’t sure if this was harmful until yesterday when my 11-year-old son told me he can’t wait until he’s 18 so he can gamble and get rich. A quick KZbin search will provide many examples of the Roblox gambling addiction.

I agree that this is bad. But I want to chime in and say: this has become--disgustingly--a common practice in the video games industry and us adult gamers don't like it either. I don't think gambling games should be illegal, but I really think they should be labeled and restricted just like a casino. Games with mechanics like this should immediately get slapped with an M or AO rating and should never appear on a platform with users under 13 y/o. Just wanted to point out: sadly it isn't just Roblox.

Is there a way in parental controls to limit who their “friends” are to only those the parent approves of? This would help. As a Grandparent with grandchildren 2,500 miles away Roblox games have provided an affordable way to play with them and spend hours of quality time with them developing relationships with each child while we talk on Discord as we play. I was crushed this summer break when my daughter-in-law took that away from my husband and I by taking Roblox away from the kids. 😢 My grandchildren were very upset as well. I will send this video to their mom in the hopes that she will use these protective measures and provide a way for the kids to again enjoy the many good games Roblox had to offer.

Chatting is a big deal in Roblox! Many people rely on it from training to become a barista, chat with others, trading, etc. Getting rid of Roblox chat for your children is just ridiculous unless he or she is under 8 for many reasons. Kids who are older ruins the entire experience and pure Sanity. If the child enters a game with chatting Required like Venti Cafe. Child cant chat and kicked out of the game for “Trolling.”

Do not trust the parental settings! Ive played with my kids and still plenty of red flags because not everything gets checked 100%. Wait till they understand/respect your rules then allow access. Plenty of other things a child can have instead of Roblox in my opinion.
