Let me start by saying I am relatively new to your channel as well as others, i’ve learned that some is more important than others, Bobby I find your channel very informative.I am an O” G who is dealing with cancer and is using the 2019 ruckus to keep my mind off my illness. Could use some sound ideas that would give me a bit more pep and uniqueness without doing a bunch of modifications and breaking the bank. Mainly a bit more speed and takeoff. It seems to me that Honda has made a good product and I would like to make the most out of this scooter. While I have the opportunity , would really appreciate your help.I figure the ruckus is rugged and durable and may even outlast me but I want to have some fun while I am able. I have a car, but as you may know it gets kind of dull driving around locally. Like I stated from the beginning really appreciate what you are doing and keep up the good work. Motor team

What did you do to get the launch back? Was it just going back to the stock belt, or did you need to throw in some clutch springs to engage at a higher rpm where it made power? Just curious. Top speed mods are great but as a commuter I want to know how how to launch better and have good mid-range too.
@burnoutbobby5 жыл бұрын
If you are trying to launch better and good mid range you can go lighter in the weights. The polini contra spring may help mid range but I would t do clutch springs.

So it seems like stock belt seems to be the way to go. I wonder if my Polini Belt is holding me back. I am 6'5" 220 and it seems like the 4.5 gram sliders gets me into the power band, I was hitting the limited fast and going maybe 37-38, got Rolling Wrench CDI and it now pulls pretty good to about 9200-9400, low 40's on the straighta and more on downhills 50 plus. Any opinion on Polini Variator vs NCY Variator with the Telflon coating?
@burnoutbobby3 жыл бұрын
The polini is the way to go. The Teflon coating comes off in first couple hundred miles. We used to sell the ncy variator and they performed terribly. We couldn’t give them away for free. Personally use the polini with the oem boss and oem belt.

I’ve hit about 48 mph but still get a dead spot around that 5-10 mph. Trying to get up to low to mid 50’s at a safe rpm
@burnoutbobby Жыл бұрын
Is it the 16mm sspg exhaust or the 25mm. What rpm are you at with that mph. Also you say uni filter. Is it a drop in? Actual intake off a hose like trs sells.
@chrisrosanio9459 Жыл бұрын
16mm, and before with the NCY variator I had gotten it to 10k on a slight downhill so I backed off a little, but I switched to the polini again with the NCY drive face and that seems to keep my rpm’s down a little also but I have to confirm on the same route to work tomorrow or Saturday. And the whole airbox delete with a 90 degrees hose and uni filter, kind of a diy kit if you will, been thinking of just getting an actual kit specifically made for it since I’m just using some spare coolant hose and hose clamps with it.

@@burnoutbobby I thought the same thing. First I had a Trail Tech Vapor that I could never get to read correctly no matter the connection method. Using another tach now that seems to read steady. Which tach would you recommend?

I always use the vapor or tto. On a 49cc you wrap it around the coil 4x and set the gauge to 2ppr. At 200lbs you would need 4-4.5g to hit that rpm unless it’s downhill and wide open. If it’s 11k on the flats I’m pretty sure the rpm gauge isn’t reading right with 5,5.5

Rich Yarnell sorry yeah didn’t see you put the year. You can really only play with weights and variatior. I think polini makes a cdi for the fuel injected models so you can do that with a polini variation and find the right weights for you.

You won’t see 48 unless you are tucking and have intake and exhaust as well. With cdi and variator you should see about 43-45 tucking. Make sure the guides are installed right in the variator.
