Hi Stephanie, I have to say this first. I just love you! I told you so tonight as this video started.☺️For the first time (since I’ve been rocking with you on KZbin almost 2 yrs now), I wanted to cry listening to you talk about how you intentionally built Community. I was in Public Service for almost 25 years before the suffering forced me to STOP and walk away without a plan. I was sick as a result of a toxic workplace and years of feeling overwhelmed, overlooked, harassed and misrepresented. The Universe heard my internal groans and confused cries, though; and I am truly grateful. Loneliness walks with me and I’m noticing it more as I get older. A Community of similar and like-minded and spirited Black Women - I would love to exist and connect within a little group of sisters out of the larger group. Introversion Guru here.👋🤭 AND I’d be so happy to hang out with you sometime, in CR, maybe. I’m easing my way ova there.😂 Anyway, longest comment ever…lol Thank you for being you, Stephanie. You mean so much to so many of us.❤ Sherry, Bahamas Berry

Girl! Speak on it!!! My husband is in construction and has gone four, five months at a time out of work, while I have destroyed my body working as a nurse, two jobs. Our last child just turned 19, and our youngest son and her are both in college. Finally thought I could rest, and was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm. NO, NO, NO! This is and will not be the end of my story! Told my grown kids, split the mortgage four ways, and figure it out. On my way to Costa Rica.😅

I moved around the world for most of my life by being in the military and then working for the federal government. I truly think the American "dream" doesn't exist in the US for us. And it's not just about money. It is also about being respected, and seen as a decent, whole human being. I retired early and chose Mexico as my home. I will maintain my US citzenship because I've earned Social Security and plan to take it as soon as I can but my home/heart is not in the US. I've found the "American Dream" outside of the US and hope many more will do the same.
@StephaniePerry6 ай бұрын
That's exactly right. If we're not seen as fully human, nothing else matters. Thank you for sharing your experiences on your channel Heather. 💗

Yep! Moving abroad was a form of rest for me. Because of you, Stephanie, I retired myself at the age of 31 last year. Now, in living in another country not worried about work, and doing whatever I want. I was even able to create my KZbin channel because of this, where I encourage others to live life on their terms. Thank you, Stephanie🫶🏿🥹 because I wouldn't have this life now if it wasn't for you and your videos

Yes, yes and yes! I'm currently looking for a fully remote job so I can frolick world wide. I was also underemployed for years. More so because of health reasons and it was amazing. I jumped back into full time work and immediately regretted it.
@nylorac19845 ай бұрын
The biggest concept that stood out to me was the entire theme of rest. I was once part of a religion that heavily focused on honoring the Sabbath. I think when it comes to health and wellness rest is so underrated. I think a lot of Western Society has found ways to work more with the technological advances instead of finding ways to truly incorporate rest. Rest is seen as something for the ill, or the weak versus in understanding that it is vital to all people to thrive. ❤

Im bringing my 7 year old to france. All of the pubs i go to have children and said i can bring mine. They are integrated in society. Ill update on my channel about the experience, but being a single mom doesnt mean isolation outside of the united states. Im learning and moving away from individualism. Very nice video. I hope more black women do it before it becomes trendy so they can get settled.

As I am in the beginner's stage of embarking upon this journey, I have a lot of research to do. I want to learn what countries Black women who travel solo have had the most favorable experiences, and the best places for seniors. I'm getting my funds together to start this journey hopefully this year, so more information on the inexpensive locations that you mentioned would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for inspiring us in so many ways, Stephanie!!!

This video just really broke me down in tears. I’ve been saying this for months and no one around me gets it. I’m just not meant to work for someone else and only work for my whole life and I know if I didn’t have everyone else’s noise I would be just fine with how my life is. But no one gets its. I keep saying if all of the ppl who claim to be in my corner would put half as much energy into me living my best life according to my own terms as they do encouraging me to work some whack job the results would be a lot better for me the person they claim to support and love. However, I am at a point where I realize I cannot expect others to conform to what I need them to be to be happy. I am responsible for me and it’s up to me to shut the noise down. It has just felt so lonely. I know this is an older video and I hope the groups you named seagull around because I am definitely going to seek them out. Thank you for this video.

the sabbatical really hit home with me. i teach at a community college and always work during the summer. i live alone. this past summer, i took off--i was exhausted. now im thinking about taking another summer off so it's not a one deal thing--taking off was very good for me--moving at a slower pace without anything to do (no grading, no emailing students) was so good for me and now im hesitant to return to working during the summer even though im trying to build my emergency fund. i think if i teach this summer i may only teach two classe...even still i don't feel like doing anything.

Hey, Steph. I've been watching your content for over a year now. I love it! I've never felt that struggle and excessive labor was part of life. I actually detest it to be quite frank. I would love to get out of it completely, however housing is my main problem. Has been all my life. Not everyone can house sit for reasons out of their hands and i haven't found my millionaire loving hubby yet(i'm dead serious about that😅). So....yes. I mean, working to only afford rent and then get by until the next check is just evil imo. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Also, i sincerely want to live where there's less blacks as thry are the most petty and toxic. They pick on you for literally everything. It's sickening.

Actively forming community. I'm not quite sure how to do this. I have been thinking about this for some time but more urgently over the past year I talked with a friend about it. However all my friends are married and they don't quite get it as it isn't an issue for them. I am an introvert and I also am not on social media and not comfortable with the idea for myself though I appreciate/support others like yourself who are on it. It would be easier i think if I had the money aspect figured out. Other than rest, that needs to be my number 1 focus.
