It was standard for us to say that someone in our group pissed themselves if they spilt anything in the area of their lap. We did this at work, the bar and while walking in a group, it's happened to me like many of my friends over the 60+ years of lifetime. I didn't think it was Irish humor just friends being stupid humor .. American here.

He might be on to something about you only knowing Nimoy from the films and not the series. The original series was considered pretty ground-breaking for the time and did tackle some important issues. The special effects, not so much.
