It’s not often that one gets to witness a duo as strangely well-complemented as Jonathan and Charlotte. When the two stepped on the Britain’s Got Talent stage, both the judges and the viewers were blown away by just how well suited the two were to each other and to the show itself.
What made Jonathan and Charlotte’s partnership work so well was mainly their friendship behind the scenes and a sense of profound loyalty to one another. Especially since on the surface, it did not look like the two would make a great singing pair.
The most common critique the two have faced is that Jonathan’s Power and Dramatic Tenor is more suited to more elaborate singing genres, like Opera. And at the same time, Charlotte’s warm and honeyed singing voice is the stuff West End show-stopping dreams are made of. And yet, when put together the two complement each other like fire and water. This really shone through at their Britain’s Got Talent Audition.

Singers of different styles can come together and create incredible music even if their paths then go different directions........ if he dumped her, she would be forgotten, the fact that he stuck with her (what helped his confidence too cause without her he would not have been able to go on) helped them both.

It's always when you're forced to compromise and when there are huge artistic restrictions and rules that creativity booms. IMO this is why some bands with members with completely different styles are so successful, it's a push and pull and they're forced to make it work, creating very intricate and sophisticated pieces. When you have a complete free-for-all to do what you want things become easier, which is not always better for the music itself. People don't seem to understand this in modern art, which is one reason why quality has increasingly gone down and become lazy. Of course, when you have personalities with different visions not only do you make epic masterpieces, but the environment also becomes hostile and a battle, which is probably why these sorts of pairs don't last long, even with deep friendships.

if they are good friends, friendship is never lost...... even if they don't speak daily, even if they don't speak for years, they are friends and I am sure if one ever needed something the other would be there to help. I got friends like that, and even if we don't keep in touch religiously, when we do meet or speak on the phone, we feel as if we just last spoke "yesterday" and not months ago. Their lives are busy, it doesn't mean that they stopped being friends just because they don't keep in touch daily.

No only Johno was talented, she had his coat tails to hang onto that kept her relevant for way past her due date, had she allowed Johno to go solo, she would have fallen by the wayside at her next attempt and would never have gone any further., it was all thanks to Johno being a good friend and thankfully it didn't ruin his chances as he was so good he could drag a lesser talent along with him. Not sure why people are trying to prop Charlotte to be better than she eventually showed once the Johno bubble faded from her. She was just okay as good singers are a dime a dozen, we see them every year trying out for these talent shows around the world as well as on KZbin, only the odd special talent shines through.

They were beautiful together, but there's only so many duets suitable for their vocal style as a duo. Charlotte supported Jonathan as he didn't have the confidence to perform alone and encouraged him to follow his dreams. He wasn't just shy, but had been badly bullied at school and Charlotte stuck up for him as she wasn't one to " judge a book by it's cover." Charlotte got to know Jonathan as a person and was a true friend who encouraged him and gave him confidence to perform with her by his side. He didn't have the confidence or belief in his talent as Charlotte and their singing teacher knew that he had great potential, and could have a bright future and realise his dreams. At no point did Charlotte take advantage of his incredible talent, she put her dreams on hold in order to facilitate him to achieve his. They had always planned to follow their own chosen genre of music from the beginning but Jonathan needed Charlotte by his side to be able to perform. I honestly don't think that the comments about Charlotte's weight are appropriate tbh. She's a talented, warm hearted person with a beautiful soul who was simply giving her friend Jonathan the support he needed so that he could realise his dreams and potential. Neither of them could have envisioned that their duet would go viral. They were teenagers and were encouraged by their singing teacher to audition for BGT as she knew that it was the only way forward for Jonathan and his astounding voice. Due to their singing teacher putting them as a duo we were all blessed to hear their amazing talent. Many people share strong relationships as teenagers, but go their seperate ways and follow their own chosen path in life. How many of you still have those closest of friends in your lives today? Charlotte and Jonathan are no different. Just be happy for them both, respect them and wish them both happiness in life as individuals. For all we know Charlotte could have an undisclosed medical condition or could be on a medication that has lead to weight gain. Why does it matter that she's gained weight anyway? She's pursuing her career in music sharing her God given talent with us as is Jonathan. Obviously this is my personal opinion and my interpretation of their story.

I don't think their friendship will ever die or be lost. True friends stay friends forever, even if they don't keep in touch for years they would be there in a heartbeat if the other needed them. Right now both of them are doing well and they don't "need" each other........ doesn't mean they lost the friendship just because each has gone their own way.

I rarely speak to my best friend of over 40yrs but I know that if either of us were in trouble and needed help which has happened in the past I'm always there for her in a heartbeat as she would be for me. We don't feel the need for constant contact and are like sisters, there for each other when the **** hits the fan. I love her to bits, we've been through a lot through out the years and always been there to support each other through traumatic times.

When simon first saw them walk on the stage, he made a terrible remark. He quickly changed his view. He lost 50 pounds, good for him. She gained 100 pounds. It happens. Get over it. Charlotte knew that her hitching herself to him in BGT would give her more success, vs going on by herself. I’m no opera fan but that voice belongs in this world as long as possible. He reminds me of those tenor guys from the 80s and 90s. 50lbs, me too, Intermittent fasting and no more drinking sugar or eating it, drink water, add lemons etc, just not sugar. That's it. Okay, one more thing, well two more things. Number 1 thing, don't eat before 10am and do not eat after 6pm. if you desperately need a sugar hit, eat an apple or orange, anything but eat or drink white sugar. You do that, you will lose about a pound a day for a while then you will figure out what works and what doesn't. GL One more thing, not one bit of exercise did I do to lose that weight. I know quite a bit about him. At school she was the sort of girl who he wouldn't have thought would even know his name. Then she said she heard him singing one of her favorite songs "Bring Him Home" thru the wall from the classroom next door at school and had to find out who he was. She knew she wanted to be a part of that voice. So their teacher put them together for their exams and to sing at her wedding. When Charlotte signed up for the BGT audition she originally put just her own name down then she added Jon's name (without asking him) because she thought she would get farther with him than she would alone. It's a blessing to us all that he agreed to do it.

The shyness was very real. Just ask those who knew him back then. But he overcame it when people started recognizing his massive talent and the hard work he did to get there. It took him longer to overcome the clinical depression but he is doing phenomenal now.

And it's a phenomenal album, I have 2 copies and love every song on it. It was done thru ArtistShare, and all the music was written by award-winning composer Diane Warren. That is a ridiculous thing to suggest. They split because of the lack of decent songs to perform otherwise logic dictates they would still be together. By Request is a great album and was put together by some great names in the business -the way funds were raised is not uncommon for artists without a record label behind them

@@marion521 does he need funds for record dal, which is a hand out, why not work the clubs, do one nights, get few quid, people would pay to see him, or does he want to sit on his arse and make a record, which he is not funding, I think some bad choices have been made, begging for help, get a job, do clubs, pay the rent, really, money he has had pass through his hands, the reason i say, get back, because she may have kept him grounded, i think he has been screwed by agents and the likes, making more money than him, i think as a pair and a come back, they may do ok together

@seanmc1351 Have you heard him live ? If you have then you would know he is a world class artist and "doing a few clubs " is not what he wants. He is soon going to Australia to perform before thousands there -that is the type of event this country should be affording him not pandering to the "old brigade" of singers we have or engaging foreign tenors who were once good and are no longer in their prime for major UK TV and events
