Reinhart continues to be a monster but I feel like being lost in all of that is Lundell’s emergence as a star. Dude has been lights out and looks like he’s found his game. I think the Washington Captials are a lot better of a team than most people thought they were going to be. Wilson is firing on all cylinders with 5 goals in 4 games. His line with Pierre Luc Dubois and Connor McMichael has be dominating to start. PLD was a big question mark for a lot of people and so far he's been incredible. The other big difference maker is Jacob Chychrun, he is a clear #1 D and i cant believe we got him from Ottawa for a bag of pucks. Caps are sneaky good this year and theyre only getting better

@@vegan678 in addition to the above, the clubs that finish at the bottom of the league standings (last 2 or 3, depending on size of the league) get "relegated" down a level, while the corresponding top 2 or 3 from the 2nd division get "promoted" up to the top level. Same for 2nd division's bottom finishers getting relegated to 3rd division and 3rd division's top finishers getting promoted to 2nd, etc. As an analogy, imagine that the worst three teams in the NHL at the end of the season got dropped to the AHL, and the AHL's top three teams got promoted to the NHL. And the AHL's worst 3 got dropped to the ECHL, and ECHL's top three got promoted to AHL. Also, the leagues in Europe don't have "franchises," and most of the clubs were founded by the communities in which they play 100+ years ago, so you almost never see a team move from one city to another.

The Pens do have solid goaltending, just not Trystan Jarry at the moment. Joel Blomqvist has been the most underrated storyline of the season so far IMO. He's come in as a 22 y/o rookie and has looked more than serviceable. He's made a bunch of NHL saves and looks incredibly poised for a goalie getting his first reps in the show. If he backstops the pens to a playoff birth, there is 0 reason not to at least nominate him for the Calder.

I've been SO happy for the Kraken's scoring depth to be clicking again. Montour has been a PHENOMENAL add to the squad, leading the Kraken for SOG and helping facilitate some fantastic sequences and opportunities. Stephenson did notch his first goal finally vs Calgary and I'm really excited for him to continue contributing to the Kraken instead of VGK lmao If the Kraken can hit a groove with the depth of scoring all up and down the lines and from the D-men - even if for just a few weeks - I'll already feel better about this season than last season.
