I'm 75 years-old and I have fond memories of 'Paladin'. On my 11th birthday I received an 'Official' , Paladin cowboy hat, pistol, a gun belt and holster, along with a fake Paladin stick on Mustache. LOL!! I also remember Richard Boone starring as a doctor in the t.v. series, "Medic". It was one of my mom's favorite shows. Richard Boone and Steve McQueen ('Wanted Dead or Alive') had two very good westerns back then.

He died from throat cancer. He lived in Saint Augustine, Florida . He taught at a College there, acting , and wrote a newspaper column. He also gave the part of HAWAII 50 , to newcomer Jack Lord, they had offered it to Boone. Boone was also a artist in paintings... He was also a true combat veteran, Pacific, Navy ,WW II. Gunner it was either dive bombers or torpedo planes, he was on several aircraft carriers that were attacked by Kamikaze Japanese suicide planes... By the way that is not his picture...

Richard Boone was a fierce looking man, who actually had a heart of gold. He was known to want to help all his co-stars in one way or another. When actress, LISA GAYE [she guested in Have Gun Will Travel in episodes: Gun Shy and Helen of Abajinian] expressed a desire to study method acting, he offered to fund her the expenditure it would take to enroll and complete a course at Lee Strasberg's acting school in New York. Besides Westerns, he graced various roles in all genres as a character actor. I loved his menacing detective cop act in "Vicki" where he was so smitten by Jean Peters' character he literally worshipped her pictures by placing flowers and candles each day at his apartment after she was murdered. In this upload, I found sequences from Have Gun Will Travel in black & white and even color. Does this mean that the TV series has been colorized?

I’m old enough to recall watching Boone’s early television series Medic as well as Have Gun Will Travel. I still occasionally watch him as Paladin on one of the oldies channels. Richard Boone was a great actor. His role as Paladin was a very different take on the western hero….an imperfect guy getting things done with at least a modicum of honor. Well done.

I remember watching the orignial series once Momma allowed a TV in the house. Paladin was awesome. in 02024, I'm watching the reruns and thinking that the series is still AWESOME. The TV show was more than miles ahead of the rest of the TV Westerns of the day. Paladin's looks made me think that there was hope for little ole me in terms of getting the attention of the ladies. Boone's portrayal of Paladin was mind boggling to say the least. His later roles were also pretty darned good. Heck Ramsey made my day.

A neighborhood couple were at a party in Pasadena back when Paladin was on TV. Richard Boone was there. They asked him for a card for me. Naturally I've lost it though the years. It was a gray color on very nice stock. I loved to watch his show.

Hitman? No hitman! Paladin was more like a private detective. He wasn't hired to go kill men. He was always hired to solve problems. Gunplay, yes, but every western series of the day had lots of gunplay but in those days the men were honest, decent fellows who could handle gunplay if required but not necessary.

And I believe if I was influenced that deeply, there is a generation of men who have sprinkled amongst them men who were taught morality for strong men, men who have the option of using traits that come naturally to us to dominate, but elect to use their gifts exemplifying humanity rather than for their own benefit. Back in the late 60s, early 70s I was a Customer Service Agent for Delta in Atlanta. Boone had a layover. People surrounded him in the main lobby, though many called him Pat. He was the nicest VIP I met. I got close and asked he would like for me to take him to the VIP room. He seemed surprised that he qualified. His question was, "Really?". Having attended college in LA, I had classes with several in the movie industry. As I said, he was the nicest. I went to graduate school in D.C. with a different type of VIP. Still, no contest.

Richard Boone - as Mike Sweeney in The Shootist - was the second to the last bad guy that the Duke ever killed in a movie (the last bad guy that the Duke shot and killed was Pufford (Hugh O’Brien) in The Shootist. Richard Boone was an excellent actor.

When I was in elementary school, "Cowboys & Indians" was popular with us all. My father, a physics professor, started to play around with leatherwork. He made me a holster and gun belt for my cap pistol, and asked me what I would like on it. Of course, I had him put a chess knight on it.

I grew up as a boy in Johnston and Scituate , Rhode Island. I remember the older gentleman who the television character was based upon. He dressed the part and rode horseback in local parades and events. The Knight chess piece was his logo. He actually sued and was compensated with a brand new Caddy that eventually got old and after he died his son continued to drive it around town. “Paladin” was the license plate. It was red.

Richard Boone was a good friend of my father's during WWII! He bravely flew in dive bombers as the "back seat" gunner. My father was one of the mechanics on the carrier. They drank together in Hawaii while on leave. I still have the ship journal for 1944.

Truth be told... Paladin was highly influential to me as a young boy. I modeled myself after this gentleman tough guy who was always on the side of justice. When I broke my leg at thirteen, I made business cards that read, "Have crutch. Will travel." I'm 66 now and still today, if I see someone mistreating another, my justice meter slams into the red and I can't help but step in and break it up... using more psychology than muscle lately. Ha!

Gene Roddenberry didn't direct those 24 episodes, he wrote them. Also why are you showing photos of Battlestar Galactica and Star Wars. The whole video is riddled with bogus images of actors who aren't Boone. John Travolta even at one point.

I loved everything I ever saw with Richard Boone. Especially fond of his Palidin character. I am though somewhat disappointed in first your description of Paladin as a hitman, which he was not. And your use of so many totally Richard Boone unrelated photos in your presentation. It definitely took away from the presentation of a great actor's legacy.
