"The Munsters" TV series never aired in color. That was the Munsters feature film "Munster Go Home" that was in color.

The real truth was, the Munsters were cancelled due to a very simple reason, that has been the demise of many other shows...financial budget, A.k.a....money.

Good Ole days. I liked The Munsters more so than Adams Family maybe Herman being Frankenstein,cousin Gilbert as CBL, Spot under the stairs. In the 60s monsters were in.

I watched both the Munsters almost regularly as a kid and I loved it back then. I got to see the Munsters in a theatrical movie at a mall near me. Although I remembered the Munster's makeup being brighter green than blue. I also saw the movie made by Rob Zombie and it was O.K. You left out a remake of the Munsters that only had a pilot episode on NBC. This episode involved introducing the family, with Marilyn being the eldest daughter of the family. Herman looking more human who had all his body parts newly stitched together (made by Grandpa). Eddie looking like a normal kid until he transformed into a bi-pedal wolf. That episode also introduced how they added Spot to the household.

I remember Munster Mondays, I Dream of Jeanie Tuesdays, Get Smart Fridays Team Both, There is room for both Adams and Munsters. Also I remember Grandpa Munster presents, when he presented King Kong Vs Godzilla, it was the first Godzilla movie I ever saw.

I never cared for The Addams Family but I enjoyed The Munsters a lot. Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis were a great pair (as they were on Car 54 Where Are You?).

I was just thinking, Back Then, there were only 3 channels & PBS. Today you can get every episode on cable tv channels, 10,000 channels!!!! Or google them on your Phone !!! 💜💚💜💚

loved all these shows, I grew up on Munsters, Addams Family and Batman. Our most favorite was Batman. Then next was Munsters we seemed to laugh more at The Munsters mostly because Herman and Grandpa had impeccable comedic timing and later found out that they ad-libbed a lot of it. Still all classic fun shows and can't forget I Dream of Jeannie!

You seemed to imply (or else I incorrectly inferred) that the "Addams Family" outlasted the "Munsters," but actually both were cancelled at the end of the '66 season after two seasons---though I can't find any concrete reason why Addams was canceled. One string of speculation is that the switch to color would not work with the show's aesthetics, similar to the Munsters, which makes sense. As far as ratings, "The Munsters" ended at No. 61, "The Addams Family," No. 62 in the Nielsens, but that's still low, so it could be a combination of factors. (Also Team Addams here, as it had a subversive layer that the Munsters lacked, and the horror layer was more subtle----as the song says creepy/kooky, instead of outright monster stuff.)

Team Munsters! What was so heartwarming about the Munsters is that strived to be the average normal American household; which was something they could never achieve. They also taught us how to be positive. When someone would jump into the motor of a parked car after Herman walked by and said, “It must be easier to work on from the inside.” Their spirit was never defeated. On the other hand, I loved the Addams Family. They relished in their crazy kookiness. The kookier the better. I loved Cousin It. Beautiful scenery kept immaculately by Lurch as opposed to the Munsters’ dusty home. It’s amazing to look at the bric-a-brac in the background of both shows is amazing. I found The Munsters over all much much funnier!

We were kids !! We watched them All, just to stay up & watch TV!!! We liked them all, & could watch them without competition, taking sides, debating which one was better... 🤷 We loved them all. They were funny and fun to watch!!! 💚💜💚💜

I don't know, but I remember, the 2nd half of the tv season, January, you'd think, ok !!! Time for the reruns, in case I missed a certain program. But, in January, they'd also introduce new tv shows. Depending on the ratings, by June, they'd switch certain shows to another day & or time, to see who got the most viewers.
