Personal opinion: I know we have the Golden Age, Silver Age and Bronze Age of horror, which was followed up in the 90's and 2000's by the "Modern Age", but I do believe we are currently in a new renaissance of horror movies with studios like Blumhouse and A24 giving new life to a previously stale and, as James put it in this video, "desensitizing" genre. I think movies like The Conjouring, Get Out, A Quiet Place, The VVitch, Split, Hereditary, Us, Midsommar and The Lighthouse are all very high quality horror films that stand toe to toe with some of the classics in this video. There will always be Shitty horror films in every era of history, but I think it's important to acknowledge when good horror films invent new techniques or repurpose old ideas. Thanks for reuploading all these videos!

I personally don't care for the Universal Frankenstein movies. Or, I used to like them until I read the book and then I was just confused because I loved the monster in the book so much. He was such an intelligent, sympathetic character in the book, and I just think it's a shame they reduced him to a grumbling monster. I know I should look at the movie on its own right though so I mean it's not like I'll ever say no if a friend is like, "Hey wanna watch some old horror movies?" because it's still good, I just wish there was a movie more like the book, too.
