Thank you Austin for your great input and review. I do like the pre ceramic more. I’ve always liked the size style and colour. Coke is my choice. Now for the hunt. Maybe I’ll get it in Japan when I go there next year.

I own both multiple sport pre-ceramics as well as ceramic Rolex-pieces. After wearing them over years in rotation - I‘m more and more appreciating the pre-ceramics. They‘re much more low key - classy, slimmer - lighter and much more comfortable to wear on the wrist. The ceramic ones have to stay a long time in the safe - while the pre’s are in permanent rotation on the wrist…

Pre-ceramics are cool. Everything about them oozes class. The newer watches have more " bling".

You nailed it. Pre ceramic inventory is finite and declining, ceramic are still going to who knows where. That doesn’t justify obscene prices, but certainly feeds a common sense supply and demand problem.

Appreciate your brutal honesty. Love my Sub 14060M and just bought a 16710 GMT for close to what I could have paid for a six digit Rolex. Prices are definitely climbing on the pre-ceramic but I wouldn’t have a Rolex any other way. I’m in my 50’s BTW.

Man this video speaks directly to me as well. I still flip flop between Pre/Ceramic. One of each is probably the only way to be satisfied 😂. Personally I’d go for the all black Ceramic first then a pre ceramic Pepsi with a few bezels to go with it. Purchased in Japan with Austin of course 🤷🏻♂️

Hi Austin great video! You inspired me. I just picked up the 16710 coke. I'm 53yrs old and feel this watch is appropriate for me. Where do you recommend I buy the other colored bezels such as the pepsi and all black. On average, how much would I be looking to pay for these bezels,

I’ve been wearing my vintage Sea Dweller as it’s my everyday wearing watch it’s proportions are perfect much like the older GMT’s. However come summer time I like wearing my GMT Master 2 Ceramic as it’s a show piece. Not wearing it after several months takes getting used to. So I’m in total agreement with you that there’s something very understated and comfort fitting with these older watches. Having said that I’ve definitely found the larger dial and better lume with larger indices and power reserve is a nice change. Everyone should experience both newer and older watch’s that enjoy the Rolex brand. If given only one choice I’d always go vintage.

I am a pre-ceramic-guy as well as you are. But if you could get some piece from an A.D, you'd find the modern ones are fascinating in a different way. I know GMT Master II is almost impossible to get at the A.D, but you might get a chance to get a Sub if you persist it.

He also has a 'unicorn' silvery white dialed 1675 that Rolex Geneva have had over 2 years authenticating / servicing.

I’ve said it more than once and I’ll say it again. I remain baffled as to why one would choose the newer 16710 over the original GMT Master II, the 16760 or so called Fat Lady. The case exhibits perhaps the best proportions of the genre, you get Tritium lume and the choice between Oyster or Jubilee bracelets. These pieces seem to garner a lot less KZbin hype than the later references and remain undervalued.
@watchsymposium2 жыл бұрын
I think the 16710 has the same overhaul aesthetic, just with more modern features. It's also easier to find cleaner and more competitively priced 16710's compared to the 16760.
@tap22622 жыл бұрын
@@watchsymposium I tend to agree with all of the points that you’ve outlined, but the price delta is actually quite small when one considers that there were far fewer 16760s produced. Additionally, the production window ran concurrent with the 16750, making for even fewer sales. I tend to think that this reference‘s rarity will make it far more sought after in the very near future.

Had a Ceramic Submariner and Pre ceramic Pepsi. I thought that was smarter than buying a single ceramic Pepsi. Two watches for the price of 1 . The thing with luxury stuff is it is not about rationality. It is more about desire. If you were practical you would buy a seiko. If you really like the ceramic pepsi, buying multiple watches that would equal its value is not gonna take care of that desire. The modern submariner felt great but was boring. And the vintage pepsi felt like a cheap watch on the wrist when you get used to a modern rolex. I basically was just doing it coz i did not want to be judged by others . I sold both and bought a ceramic pepsi and im now happy. If rolex value drops so be it. The two rolexes will also lose value anyway and i would lose the same amount.

Tired of hearing about the Rolex Pepsi. What a ridiculous amount of money to pay for a stainless steel watch.
@watchsymposium3 ай бұрын
That's the odd thing about Rolex - often times the steel pieces go for more than the precious metal ones. As for whether it's worth it or not, that's subjective. You're not paying for a watch, so much as an object that makes you feel a certain way. And if you buy at a certain price, and are able to sell if for more in the future, that can justify the purchase right there.
@jamesmoninger19823 ай бұрын
@@watchsymposium I understand that it is subjective, but being an economics graduate, what do you think the $24000 Rolex Pepsi will be worth when the hype is over and everyone already has one?
@privatedata98023 жыл бұрын
The modern market is full of shit. People keep paying rediculous prices for these over priced time pieces and what Rolex tried to do to seiko. Their are some seikos which are way better than Rolex. Don't get me wrong I love Rolex but my Seiko Prospex watches are friggin amazing

Wow, you really judge people by the watch they wear? That's kinda sad. You should never buy a watch based on what you think other people will think of you. You should buy what you want and what you like. If you like ceramic bezels, buy one. If you like aluminum bezels, buy one. If you like that Citizen quartz dive watch, buy it.
@watchsymposium6 ай бұрын
I'm all about wearing what you like. But it's naïve to pretend your watch isn't a form of nonverbal communication, or that people won't draw conclusions from it. As social beings, that's what we do: try to get a readout on things from the cues. And that's something one might want to be aware of when they choose a watch. That's all I'm saying. Kinda sad that you missed my point.
