My sophomore year psat w/o any studying or knowledge of the format was a 1280. My junior year psat with one day of looking over the reading section was a 1400! I took three khan academy practice tests and got 1400-1410 on all, but I recently took my first sat (this December one) and my score jumped to a 1510! It’s probably luck but don’t give up! :)

I'm a sophomore and I got an 1110 on my PSAT, 510 on math and 600 on reading/writing. I'm better at math than I am in English, I'm in a junior honors math course and a regular junior English class. I've been beating myself up over it, because I didn't get the score I expected of myself and a lot of people with lower GPAs than me got a better score than I did and they were saying in class how I was stupid lmao Kinda needed this video for at least some hope so hey thanks my dudette

GPA and SAT do not consistently correlate, measure intelligence or the abillity to survive in college. The people that i know that have a GPA between 4 and 5 i have seen make lower scores and the people that make between a 3 and 4 make higjer scores but it is different. Not everyone that make a perfect gpa is the same as the next that also makes a perfect GPA. I dont compete with anyone in my class i just focus on takimg my classes and not only making a good grade but finding ways to actually lesrn material and also manage the classes. This is the part that colleges want to be able to see a person do is to be able to challenge themselves with classes and other activities and clubs.

I got a 1320 on my PSAT Junior year. Ended up getting a 1540 on the SAT in August before Senior year. I think a lot of it has to do with getting used to the test. Your first time taking the test is going to be leaps and bounds harder than your second, third, or fourth time. So hang in there.

To all the juniors out there I recommend taking ACT and SAT practice tests at home instead of signing up for one but you need to make it as real as possible (like a quite place, timed, approved calc, timed breaks just like in the testing center, snack prepare just EVERYTHING you will do in the testing center do it on your own) . Don’t just stick with one test, the other test could really be easier for you, I remember I got 1230 on the SAT but ended up with 31 on the ACT because the act was much easier for me content wise but timing wise was harder but the SAT was harder vocab wise like weirdly worded problems on both sections but there was much more timing so I ended up with the ACT. Many people think ACT is harder because of the science not true at all u don’t need science knowledge TIP: read the questions first for the science section. One common myth is that you have to answer every question: WRONG I guessed on an entire passage of the reading section and still got 28 comment down below if u want more info

For those of you wondering how PSAT converts to SAT: I’m a Junior and I took both the October SAT and October PSAT this year. I took them on the 6th and 10th of October respectively. Funny enough I got a 1420 on both. 740 math and 680 English on the PSAT, 730 Math and 690 English on the SAT. I have no tutors or SAT classes, all self studying. I’ve used Khan Academy primarily for (like 10-20 minutes a day) for 85% of my studying and a Princeton Review book for grammar for like 15%.

in my sophomore year when they told me we were gonna take the PSAT and it was only a practice one, i didn’t study and i pretty much guessed on most of them. i regret not trying cause my counselor suggested to take dual credit engineering cause i was doing good, but in order to qualify for a dual credit class for my states college was at least an 850-900 and i got an 800. this year as a junior i’m going to take it again hopefully get more than 1000 and take dual credit classes. 😃

What about for 8th grade? I got a 940 total out of 1440. 490 Evidence Based Reading and Writing, and 450 Math. It says that I'm over the Benchmark by a bit by math the Benchmark was 430 so a total difference of 20 points. And then the Evidence Based Reading and Writing the Benchmark was 390 meaning I got 100 points above what was considered to be the Benchmark. The site says I'm College ready, but am I and if so am I well ahead or should I go and get help to prep for PSAT and SAT within the next few years. My mom and I are trying to start college planning, so this is really important to both her and I.

Harrison Dixon BYU-I has a 99% admissions rate... It’s very likely you’ll get in regardless of what you got unless it’s a really bad. Also, BYU-Idaho I would say is the least competitive of BYU schools (Provo and Hawaii) when it comes to admissions. The PSAT is out of 1520... If any college wanted a higher score that wouldn’t even be possible. But just remember, admissions to any school isn’t just about test scores. Are you sure it is the right test? It doesn’t seem like it. The PSAT she is explaining is the one that is taken in 10/11th grade. And the PSAT 8/9 seems to be the only other one you can take.

I just got a 1420 for this year’s PSAT with a 215 index score and I live in Utah. I feel as though this test had a much steeper curve than normal though as I only missed 6 questions in total and dropped 100 points. For example I only missed 1 question in reading and had a 36 index out of 38, and I missed 1 in Writing and Language and got a 37, with a 730 overall evidence-based reading and writing score. I think the math was fairly accurate as I missed 4 questions in total and got a 34.5 index score and a 690 section score. One thing that did seem strange to me was that the math was noticeably harder than any of the practice tests or the ACT and even the December SAT i just took, and I have always scored higher in math as it is by far my best subject.

do the percentiles change depending on your grade? because my older sister and I got the same score, but my percentile was 90 and hers was 89. Does this mean they grade sophomores and juniors separately?

i got an 1180 psat freshman year 1150 psat sophomore year and I just took the psat for my junior year and I probably got a 1000 RIP MY BRAIN CELLS ARE DISSOLVING

Honestly if you do sat prep you’ll probably do well on psat. I got 1270 sophomore and 1440 junior w prep. Not good enough for National Merit but I didn’t really care anyways.

Imma just break it down, good scores don’t really mean sh*t especially for the PSAT. The SAT I get it try to make it your best on it but the worst thing you can do is stress about it. I’m a junior and colleges are about to look into my grades and stuff so just focus on your gpa and DONT STRESS. You got this!
