There are 12 cranial nerves. We have to identify which are weak.

Yes, great point! A cranial nerve assessment is very helpful to pinpoint the pathology and for treatment planning.

My main issues are: 1. Every sound is Nasal 2. Swallowing 3. Smiling 4. I am not able to open my right eye when I put eye drops.

Videos that target dysarthria, but are not specific to spastic type, include the multisyllabic word series in the adult speech/language playlist along with the Speak clearly: 4 exercises video. The oral motor exercise playlist involving stretching, along with the diaphragmatic breathing video may also be of interest. Let me know what you think!

Addressing each system individually may be helpful. Along with compensatory strategies to increase speech intelligibility.

Hi I was born with a cleft palate- I didn’t receive speech therapy because they said I didn’t need it - I have struggled all my life my speech as a result I don’t like to speak to people because they said they don’t understand what I am saying-😢

@@SpeechSecrets I suspect it may be sleep issues. not bad sleep just waking up at night and struggling to go back to sleep. the usual most people get. just may effect my speach I dunno

Can we use AAC for apraxia patients?

Many factor to consider, but with a pure apraxia an AAC is often helpful because the problem is less with language and more with speech production. However, if there is also aphasia present, which there often is, this will affect the ability to use language and impact AAC selection (such as icons, vs word).

@@SpeechSecretslooking forward to this! i was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis about a year ago and my speaking ability completely devolved. now, even though my symptoms are being managed, i seem to have some leftover muscle imbalance/weakness as well as difficulties with breath control. in other words you’ve finally given a name to my speech for me, so thank you!!
