You might try getting an insert folder with pockets for the binder. Just in case you get papers that aren't hole punched you can store them away until you can hole punch them. You're such a great Mom Kendal is blessed to have you.

Hi there. My son has a brain injury from a tumor and he has autism. He's 24 now but I remember days when they'd come into the er or test room and wake him. Brilliant idea to have an emergency bag! Other ideas: you can make a sign for the door with her name, and words like please enter quietly. You can make signs with other important info to use if admitted. Put up by her bed or memo board. I made a little all about me book for a hospital stay.when I couldn't stay full time so they understood things. You can use signs on the doors like at the ER, hospital room, or during tests like when you're in a waiting room for an mri, etc. Put some page protectors in the book. You can put tape or removable poster stuff in the front of the book in the protector pouches or tape a zip lock bag to it. You can also put the fliers you make in protective sheets and put the whole protected flier up on the door or wall so it doesn't get wrecked and you can grab it off and bring it with you if you move rooms. Great job!!

Hi, I just finished watching your video and I had to comment, I have a son who was born November 2018 he is diagnosed with schizencephaly and microcephaly, epilepsy, CP, and we don't know yet about his sight, I am sitting now in the hospital with him as he is recovering from the g-tube operation, I could relate with every single word that your saying, I have those exact same sheets of paper in my son's binder to, your videos really help me just knowing that this someone out there that's going through the same things we are, just from seeing the video of you explaining about the g-tube is helping me know what I am up for when we get home from the hospital.

Way to go Mom!! I have an extensive medical history & have a binder as well. I update it constantly. Recommendations on what I have learned: I keep papers in page protectors (easier to pull out when someone needs a copy of something), I keep an extra copy in a file cabinet at home, I have a 4 page condensed history to give at new dr appts instead of filling out all my information in new paperwork - listed in order: 1) entire history with dates first of all injuries, surgeries & procedures, 2) list of all medications, 3) list all allergies then 3) all diagnoses. I have my binder separated with tabs: 1) my condensed list is in the very front 2) diagnoses 3) imaging 4) doctor’s notes 5) list of all doctors with addresses, phone #s & fax #. Keep a list with all dates that events, diagnoses, surgeries, imaging happen. Also when going to an appt it’s hard to remember everything the dr said so I use an app called abridge. You can record the entire visit (be sure to get the dr’s permission to record) then go back later & listen anytime. I hope all this helps. 😊

Some other youtube moms I watch with medical intense kids use the abridge app. From what I can remember you can use it (with permission from your doctor) to record your appointment and it will highlight important information during the appointment. It might be helpful for you with Kenndal.
