The island in question is North Sentinel island, Dave. It's off the coast of Thailand, but it belongs to India. The tribe there shot an American missionary foolish enough to venture there full of arrows a few years ago. Outsiders haven't been able to recover the body because it's just too dangerous. Modern people generally just leave the tribe alone, and I think that's the right thing to do.

There was an early Portuguese explorer who went down the amazon and reported vast cities on along the banks further down river. Years later people went to look and found nothing. The fringe theory is that they did exist and the explorer carried diseases that he and his crew were immune to but the natives were very susceptible to. The further belief is the jungle reclaimed those cities by the time more people went to look. LIDAR is revealing lots of structures there.
@Kirinketsu_3 жыл бұрын
But that is an unpopular belief because the governments and media want you to believe the Amazon has been around for millions of years and effects the climate and if we cut it down it would be bad, and not this there could have been 20 million or more people living in the Amazon and the rainforest was a lot smaller and vast areas were covered in man made gardens and agriculture fields. Which this doesn't even cover the modern technology discovery of the rainforest use to be grasslands up until 2000 years ago when the change in climate changed the weather allowing for the forest we have today to grow.

It's pretty much proven at this point that there were vast cities all throughout the rainforest and that much of the vegetation and trees in the rainforest wasn't initially wild it was from agriculture planted by the people who inhabited it thousands of years ago that's just overgrown everything since they died off. This is a fascinating rabbithole to go down.

Not a geneticist so take w a grain of assault. But as long as you go outside 1st cousins there are limited genetic side effects so many cultures develop strong cultural values to prevent close incest. And they prob have higher defect rates as well.
@Kirinketsu_3 жыл бұрын
Incest is bad because it increases the chance a child with have a birth defect or infant mortality., some birth defect are minor while others can lead to major disabilities or early deaths. A baby born from a brother and sister will always have higher chances of birth defects, but the bigger issues come when a family line commits incest over multiple generations. Brother and Sister is the highest chance, with studies claiming chances of mental illness in the 40% Mother and Son or Father and Daughter is next but nowhere near as bad as Brother and Sister First cousins are nowhere near what it is made out to be, in fact many countries still have many first cousin marriages, sure it can increase the chance of a birth defect by up to 2x or more, but 2x of 2% to 3% is 4% and 6% The problem would come from first cousin to first cousin to first cousin over multiple generations, or first cousins to aunt or uncle repeat. One generation gap from incest can also err reset the gen pool, which can involve 2nd or 3rd cousins. In Western societies marring a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd cousin use to be normal up until about the 1920s/1930s Here is a chart I found, whether it has been inflated to scare people I do not know, I know I have seen studies say parents and children are not as high as brother and sister, but they are showing it as the same. Father/daughter, mother/son or brother/sister → 25% Grandfather/granddaughter or grandmother/grandson → 12.5% Half-brother/half-sister → 12.5% Uncle/niece or aunt/nephew → 12.5% Great-grandfather/great-granddaughter or great-grandmother/great-grandson → 6.25% Half-uncle/niece or half-aunt/nephew → 6.25% First cousins → 6.25% First cousins once removed or half-first cousins → 3.125% Second cousins or first cousins twice removed → 1.5625% Second cousins once removed or half-second cousins → 0.78125% Third cousins or second cousins twice removed → 0.390625 % Third cousins once removed or half-third cousins → 0.195 %
@Kirinketsu_3 жыл бұрын
@@bryansmith1691 1st cousins is not bad, it increases birth defect to about 2x higher than the average rate of 2% to 3% which would be 4% to 6%, a lot of countries still do 1st cousin marriage, it use to even be common in the most of the Western world, the issue is when its done within multiple generations.
@bryansmith16913 жыл бұрын

Pretty much the entire Amazon Rainforest is the gardens of the native peoples long overgrown. The forest's entire growth is surprisingly recent based on archaeological findings. Look at the species growing there and most are garden species with lots of different agricultural uses. Dave isn't that far off lol, as most of that has grown after the natives who were living there died out. The narrator was being dishonest as actually most of the fires are completely legal and sanctioned by the governments there. Usable land is worth more to everyone than unusable land. You always hear nonsense that frankly isn't true about the amazon providing most of the oxygen in the world, and considering that it is known that at one point the forest wasn't even there, that's obviously bs. It's really kind of good that the forest land is being reclaimed, and as a result they are learning more and more about the people who used to occupy that land, and they are discovering more and more ruins and structures that are hidden there.

The place that spoke of that was around only 700 to 500 years ago is one of many cities that have been found that is believed to have been wiped out by diseased brought over by early European explores. Out of all of the cities and other areas discovered so far, some scientist and arcologies believe upwards of 20 million people could had been living in and in between them. This leads to the whole the Amazon use to be very small and most of it is new growth that has happen over the last 500 so years, which by the records of the early European explores would be accurate. The belief by these same scientists and arcologies is that after the people died off these cities were covered by vegetation. Which would also explain why explores from the 1600th and onwards could never find these vast fields and cities explores from the 1400th and 1500ths spoke of. Another claim by modern technology and scientist is the Amazon rainforest is only around 2000 years old. It was grasslands before climate change that happen around 2000 years ago changed the weather allowing for the growth of the forest we see today in the rainforest.... This is a no no to talk about seeing how if true because of the whole climate change is bad agenda being pushed and the stoppage of the rainforest being cut down and narrative the rainforest and its trees have been around for hundreds of millions of years and cutting them down would be bad for the climate etc... hiding the fact most of European and the East of the USA cut all of its trees down that were around for tens if not hundreds of thousands of years. Also shown it can be done by the Polynesian who managed to make their way to Hawaii, ancient middle easterner, Africans, and Asians could have all made their way to South American thousands even tens of thousands of years ago.
