One thing I forgot to mention in the video, is that I thinned the latex paint down with about 10% water. You could thin down the paint more and it may solve the nozzle issue, but then you're stuck with having to spray the door many more times to get the same coverage.

hands down sprayer (a good sprayer) is going to do better job than roller 10 out of 10 times; however, it does take a bit more work to stage the door for spraying but I will spray everytime that I can because the finish is just so far superior

Wherever you buy paint, I would just get the highest quality semi-gloss you can afford. Better quality means less coats to do and easier to clean later

Some painters are good with any tool and depends on the size of the job, but overall if you instruct properly and they listen then practice makes perfect sense. There is money to be made just watching paint dry LOL.

Professional remodeler here.. great job, pro tip: use a purdy microfiber stranded mini roller for a flawless finish every time. But use a new roller don’t ever re use them

Thanks for the comparison... I understand the time difference if you're doing a large area, or in the this case a large number of doors, but what is the difference in paint usage? It might not be so obvious with 1 door side but as you start doing larger areas....Thanks.

You will use more paint with the sprayer. By my estimation, about 15% more

I just responded to your comment, and then I realized that I had missed something - try this again - The answer is yes. The paint that I was using was actually thinned down with water by about 10%. I find that when I thin it down any more, I had to do many more coats to cover the same area, and to me that kind of defeats the purpose of the sprayer. If I have to spray something six or seven times, then I might as well use my roller! Would be a whole lot faster! 😉

I find that the inexpensive sprayers leave an "orange peel" texture....not all clients like that look.
