Even I watch PYRO on his main or 2nd channel sometimes. He's a good gauge for "medium Bro", but I also feel genuinely weird about the aggro h8er audience he seems to have acquired. It's always been there but they REALLY dominate the 2nd channel & I don't know how a creator like him, who is basically fine, can deal with constant hate. I guess it's bc he's basically fine. I've seen him be quite empathetic, & out of the crew mentioned on the podcast, it's not just that he's bigger, but he also has grown into being able to be more than comic relief on his channel. I can see him developing deeper rifts with the old Bros. OMG Apologies about the many comments. Mika makes me THINK.
@xtopher1743 ай бұрын
The thing about Pyro is that the hate is mostly played up because it benefits him a lot. People paid to harass him and it also made some of the best clippable moments for him. Also, his audience mostly loves him but the hate gets highlighted more.
@MildlyCreativee3 ай бұрын
Its intense for sure but a lot of it IS actually jokes. Best way to realise this is to go to any of the conventions he's attending. Most if not all of his fans seem perfectly normal and dont like. Do or say anything messed up or anything. If you've ever watched Tyler1 on twitch, its a similar situation.
@TheTrashman93 ай бұрын
It's just a bit. We "hate" him, and rag on him constantly. He's in on it tho, it's not harassment. Case in point, the same people who shit on him relentlessly will gladly die on a hill defending him if shit goes south. It's like calling your friend mean names back and forth, yk?

I'm sure the people involved at Twitch were professionals with an eye to their responsibilities, fiduciary/marketing optics/legal. Why do people think they personally have the right to access sensitive evidence & judge these things when they are untrained in anything & are clearly biased. Is he 12? Why would a company want to get rid of a big star unless there was actual jeopardy? Why? I'm SO uncomfortable with SA + harassment + other crime stuff being litigated by podcasters + comics.I don't fully trust the legal system with these things either, & ofc we personally have the right to judge others, but this thing where we do podcast litigation is just the worst. EDIT: lol like ishowspeed + kai cent are much better?

Great video as always! I love this channel ❤ I always felt that pyro and dolan was more likable and I saw that many of their fans agree bc I was in one of pyro’s lives and while he was reading out nerd’s statement in the discord, his fans were celebrating bc they didn’t like that nerd was transphobic and supported nfts, don’t get me wrong pyro’s humor isn’t for everyone which is completely fine but he says that his n word comp embarrasses him a lot (which is good bc that made me uncomfortable as a black kid back then so I’m glad he regrets it and calls it edgy cringe) and has openly supported trans people and other progressive ideas so just putting that just in case this may put a bad taste in anyone’s mouth about pyro and dolan but aren’t completely sure (it’s completely fine to not like them tho I’m just putting it out there!) I will say though pyro has def has some stuff to learn about trans people but I like that he’s transparent about that fact and actually tries to educate himself (also this info is from his lives if anyone is wondering; he just posts slop on his regular vids)

I worked at Lionbridge on the "video streaming platform" project, can neither confirm nor deny if it was KZbin, but nonetheless we did have guidelines on how to access content, whether it should be flagged and/or disciplined and how, etc. However, we were not aware how much "weight" certain content/mentions/etc. have when it comes to it being flagged. I think it's worth noting that most people there are at least bi-/trilingual, who don't have a lingustics, social studies or whatever degrees, I mostly saw stay at home moms, students, who are people from countries that don't speak English as their first language, although it is very close to a native speaker level. This mish-mash of people works as a team on the English side of the project and then we were also separated into our target language groups. Me, personally, I saw quite a few cases where I would correct someone's "flagged" content to "not flagged" simply because I felt like it was not in compliance with the guidelines. I would move such cases up to upper management as well for an additional review, however, I cannot say the same has been done in every controversial case.

I feel a common trap people fall into is taking something that may be possible, and then saying its proven true, when to put it generally it's proven possible. Like guidelines or not people's personal bias will flow through their decision making, that's just a thing that is impossible to prevent. I also feel comfortable with the general assumption that on average the population of homophobic people is higher in a country where being gay is illegal. But for the theory that homophobia is being trained into the algorithm is true so many, quite frankly unknownable to us thing have to be true. Like what is the breakdown of homophobic people vs progressive people? The assumption seems to be that homophobic countries have cheaper labour so youtube will use them which is a lot of assumption. Also youtube videos are uploaded across the world. So its possible that they hire internationally because they need people to be able to be able to manually review videos who have different background. Like if a person is saying this makes sense because of this cultural context having someone from that culture review it makes sense. At the very least a person would need to speak the language they are reviewing in. Also glassdoor stuff said google. So how do we know these people are working on youtube and not anything else in under the Alphabet umbrella? There is probably more but thats just what comes to the top of my head.

Not done watching yet, but I keep thinking about something and wanted to leave a note. You (Mika) and people like BJ (That Surprise Witness, BJ Investigates), Dogpack, and recently Ophie Dokie are filling a good part of Nerd's old niche. I'll include Adam McIntyre too. Y'all identify and analyze core issues, _BUT you do it without expensive, high-effort visuals._ Since I enjoy overthinking things, I would say that there are now at least two big categories in the Serious-Issue Analysis genre: *Chill and Legit* (list above) and *Flashy and Legit* (Coffeezilla, Nerd City with an asterisk). You could frame this split many ways, and the results would largely remain the same. How Odd Here is the part where I wave my hands around and invoke Judith Butler's heterosexual matrix concept, because I think that is an extremely funny comparison to make in this specific context.

Okay I finished it!! Was really happy to see you cover this one, you're the exact right person for it imo. I truly loved so much of his old content. The work he put into research and testing was unmatched & obviously the style was impeccable... which kind of just makes it more of a shame, y'know? Argument and conclusion quality matter SO much, and digging in his heels will never fix logical flaws. I think he should learn how to do basic argument mapping and also go like. Go outside a bit more. Escape the echo chamber. The other thing I kept thinking about is this paper I read recently... "A Justification-Suppression Model of the Expression and Experience of Prejudice". Hope he recovers from the brain worms someday. He is Wrong about an increasingly large number of basic things and is blaming the world for Not Understanding instead of checking his own logic. The pipeline is foul. Ty for making this. Nerd, if you see this next month, you really should listen to her. 😽😽😽
