That pot of chicken n dumplins looks absolutely perfect! I bet that is so good! I have never eaten the fluffy kind but what you made looks delicious! If I tried to make them I'd have dough balls for sure. I did not grow up eating chicken n dumplins but my dad would order them in a restaurant anytime he had the chance. He liked the thin dumplin, he didn't want it too thick or doughy, the kind that looks like a square or strip of noodles. I started trying to learn how to make them 11 years ago, it was not until after he had passed on. We would have fun trying to learn to make them together. My mother never made homemade biscuits or dumplins that I remember. I need to try to make these. I like the way you made these. Thank you for showing how you make them!

You're welcome. If you do them the way I did (Don't take off the lid the last 10 minutes), they should turn out just right.

@@janetsmart-countryliving1059 I made this last night. I followed what you said to do as best I could. The only thing I had to do different was that I did not have biscuit mix so I looked for a recipe and made some. This might be the best pot of chicken n dumplins I have ever made, I usually make the flat rolled out kind. It was just my daughter and me last night eating and she gave it an 8 out of 10 only because some of the dumplins were a little on the doughy side, some seemed to be a little on the fluffier side, so not all of them were doughy. The doughiness might have been because of the homemade biscuit mix I used which I have never tried before either. And also, I forgot to cut the heat down a little when I put the lid on and I thought it was about to boil over so for a split second I lifted the lid & quickly put it back and cut the heat down a little. Mine didn't look like yours either the way yours seemed to just float on the top (maybe that was bc of the biscuit mix). This also stuck to the bottom a good bit too. It was not scorched, but stuck and got browned a little bit. We had butterbeans & corn with it, my mother did make that & it was the best! Thank you for sharing how your mother made this, I bet what your mother made and you make for Mr. Charley are mighty good. I wish I could try how the fluffy dumplins are supposed to taste when they are done right : ) My parents were the same way about grandbabies too, they were more interested to see them than us, LOL! Thank you again, I will be enjoying the leftovers today! (please excuse my long reply : )

@@rebeccadavis6812 practice makes perfect. I'd get either biscuick or jiffy mix and make sure you have enough liquid in the pot so it won't stick. I'd try again. 🙂 and put your burner on low. Sounds like they did turn out pretty good, tho. It took me a few tries before I had zero dough balls.

@@janetsmart-countryliving1059 One last thought/comment : ) your recipe is much much easier than rolling dough and cutting the pieces out and less mess too!

@@rebeccadavis6812 to me, those are more like noodles than dumplings. 🙂
