To me, Francine's worst parenting moments to Steve include everything she did in "Tapped Out," and telling Steve no girl will ever love him more than his mother. That not even Debbie found him attractive in "Iced,Iced, Babies". There was also turning Steve young/old in the episode "1600 Candles." Francine's worst parenting moment with Haley was when she laughed at Haley's desire to be a businesswoman when she was a child and ruined her self confidence

As long as breast milk is supplementing solid food, there's really no harm in continuing to breast feed after two years old (providing the kid continues to be able to digest milk, in which case it's not healthy). I know families that have continued to breast feed to some extent until like age four. Some people won't be able to continue breast feeding at such a low level of need, and their supply will dry up naturally as their kid eats more and more solid food and less and less breast milk. Francine being able to do this for over a decade before getting pregnant again is a major stretch, but Lysa continuing for 6 years and having a pregnancy or two between Robyn's birth and the events of the series is definitely realistic. The biggest issue for me about this episode isn't the breast feeding (which is weird, but it's not something that grosses me out) is the fact that Francine was feeding Steve her bodily fluids without his consent for years when he was old enough to make an informed decision about which foods he wanted to eat. He didn't give consent, and then was tricked into giving consent once he found out. That's the issue in the episode for me that crosses the line and is actually disgusting. Sure, breast milk is a bodily fluid that is safe to consume most of the time (untreated HIV for example being a time when it's not safe always), but consent should be given. A random incident of people trying to make consuming breast milk after infancy a thing happened on Master Chef where someone made breast milk cheese and Gordon Ramsey's reaction is hysterical.

What Steve needed was a balanced of both their parenting styles because we see what happened to the two Steves in two ways if they sticked to only one parenting style.

Both Stan and Francine realized that they need to balance their parenting styles so Steve can grow into a healthy adult. Without that balance, Steve might end up in those two routes as we saw.

She had a few bad parenting moment I can recall where she was the absolute worst: daughter joins a cult. When it was Francine spiking Steve's Juice to hopefully in a misguided way to protect her son from further health issues, she was being overprotective, but she was still being a mother who cared. That's where we need to understand that a mother's love, in the truest sense knows no bounds, even when it can be kinda/ really detrimental to the child. The breastfeeding thing I can overlook, spiking the juice I can overlook, but neglecting Haley to the point where she ended up being brainwashed by a cult, that's her being a bad mother. Benevolent neglect is sometimes a father's tool, but a mother's job is to nurture. Dad's also nurture, but in a more life lesson way, teaching by telling them the right way and then learning the right way when the father tells them what's going to happen. Very Andy Griffith kind of way. Mom cleans your wounds from a scrape you got into with the punk down the road, mom tells you it's gonna be okay, mom tells you that she loves you. Francine with benevolent neglect, bad mother. Letting Stan take Steve to a brothel in Mexico, bad parenting for ignoring the red flag. Francine telling her son that no one will ever love him because Debbie even rejected him, bad mothering. It's really those two moments you could pick from, but Francine neglecting is the worst because that has direct consequences.

You might not lose sensation or the ability to breast feed. My surgeon promised to do his best to make sure I keep that ability. And while I've never birthed and never *will* birth a child and can't confirm that I can still breast feed because of that (unless I get put on a bad medication again...), I *can* confirm that I have not lost any kind of sensation and that if you're careful during recovery, breast reduction is fine and safe.

This is true! (Doctor and someone who has looked into breast reduction surgery myself here). As long as you communicate to your surgeon that you want it to still be an option, they can do their best to make sure it's still an option. Same with nipple piercing (can't keep the rings in while breast feeding and it supposedly is really uncomfortable) and breast enlargement surgeries.

In thinking about Francine’s strange fixation on breastfeeding Steve, this in addition might also be a control issue as well as an attachment issue. That scene where Francine is stroking Steve’s head as he cries also supports this suggestion. Plus Francine on occasion seems to display a wild and darker side to her personality such as when she wanted to get revenge on George Clooney or let her sister take the fall and got her sister arrested for throwing that out of control party instead of taking the responsibility herself.
