This might seem like a strange comment, but I just wanted to let you know that I don’t watch your videos flippantly. Lol! I have some videos/channels that I’m happy to watch while I’m doing other things or just as background. But when your videos pop up, if I’m not able to give it full attention I’ll save it for later - and be looking forward to it! In fact, I associate your channel with being relaxed so I’ll try to save it for when I’m cosied up with a cup of tea or having a bubble bath etc. Especially when I am in need of relaxing or cheering up - quite often your videos are just what the doctor ordered. Have a wonderful day 💖

My favorite set is the performance set from target. They have labels on the top and bottom that say “top or bottom” so you don’t have to guess. AND THE PIECE DE RESISTANCE? There’s an elastic that hugs the side corners of the bed so the sheet doesn’t roll up. Hugs the mattress. And they’re a little silky and not that microfiber gunk we hate. We never use flat sheets so we buy separates. Fitted sheet and pillow cases. Then a quilt or comforter depending on the season

When you were talking about deferred decision I was thinking it kind of aligns with something I adopted years ago. One thing in, one thing out. For example, I bought a pair of shoes today. My closet space is full. So when I came home I chose a pair to donate. No exceptions. I knew when I was buying the pair that I needed to make that choice. It’s been really helpful with shopping, as well with keeping things I know I will wear/use. Once I got used to the mindset, it really helped me keep things pared down. And it can apply to everything.

One idea that my sister taught me that I still use, similar to the “deferred decision” idea, is the concept of assessing the “hassle factor” in any decision. She had 4 little ones so that was critical. If the hassle factor is too high, it’s not worth doing. Best recent example in my life is that I (mistakenly) bought a beautiful blouse that has to be ironed…and I never wear it because the hf is too high. I should have thought of that before I bought it! So think of that factor and that will help you save on time and frustration later. 😖

I love these little pieces of info. Such simple thinking but it makes life much more seamless. Like the “never handle anything twice” philosophy. I implemented that and love it! And grabbing one thing every time you go upstairs, that way you’re gradually decluttering.
@louiseclarkashburn66642 жыл бұрын
Taylor, I do that stair trick too! And the “never handle anything twice” is SO HELPFUL, especially for paperwork! I used to go through my mail 3 or 4 times without acting on any of it. Once I implemented that “rule” for myself it made my time so much more productive.

I think most people can relate to deferred decisions in many aspects of life, not just cleaning. However, I advocate for "deferred decisions" to my clients because facing a "cutthroat" declutter can trigger/worsen subconcious resistance to doing it AT ALL, as there is a mental/emotional component to hoarding/decluttering, its not just about "being organized". so if doing it in "phases" is better for you (especially if dealing with outright/clinical dx hoarding disorder) then do it "as you can", always find what works for you. And that INCLUDES an all out hardcore cutthroat declutter, if its all or nothing or you'll never do it, by all means. Just My 2c.

I work at WDW and everyone wants to know about our behind the scenes life. I’m a bartender at a hotel so I spend so much time exploring how things really work. I get rid of things that don’t work right away. Mascaras are my number 1 toss. I pass on things to my coworkers that aren’t weird to give away slightly used. I’m doing the same thing in my condo. I just had everything painted. I ordered a new dresser to replace my too small night stand. I’m thinking about replacing the couch I bought. It’s less than a year old, but it’s not comfy.

You're a mom of 2 very small kids. Don't stress about the small stuff. Your kids won't remember how clean your house was. What they will remember is the fun you had and the memories you've made. I agree with the other comments, hire someone to do the actual cleaning, then the keeping things picked up isn't as much when you're not trying to add toilets and floors in there too.

One thing that I do (also mom of 2) that really makes a difference in my home is when I leave the room I am in I always look around and take some things with me that don’t belong in that room. If you do that (almost) every time with every room in your house it stays way more tidy. For me it is mostly picking up all the toys all over our house 😅

I’m a mother of an adult daughter (33) and adult son (30). My daughter works in a cath lab cardiology 🫀 department. She works 10 hours days and is required to take call 📟. She’s also recently divorced. My point being, Kristin works long hours and has very little time for housekeeping. She’s learned to not sweat 😅 the small stuff. She doses all her housework & laundry 🧺 on the weekends. Fully aware she may have to take off when the pager goes off. She’s an amazing mom to our 5 year grandson. Her choice is to spend her spare time with her son. She’s totally accepted she can’t do it all. She definitely has her priorities in check. Her myself and Paxton are going to The Great Wolf Lodge in 5 days. Plus myself my husband, Kristin and Paxton spent a week in your favorite place Disney World. As a working mom you ought to take a step back and walk away from YT for spell. We all will be here when you return.

I am so interested in Brooklinen, and i clicked through, ready to order several sets. I would need at least seven sets: three sets for the hubs and me, and two sets each for our two kids. But they don't have a good color/print selection (13 choices), so i'm hesitant. I don't want to just buy a bunch of plain white or off-white sheets, and the prints are just...weird. Hopefully, they will expand their color selection.

I did the same thing. I didn’t want the odd prints they offered. I swear by the performance sheets from target. They’re labeled top or bottom at the top and bottom so no guessing. If you feel you must do these things yourself, follow this amazing advice: "five minutes or five things." I'd give the author credit if I could remember where I read this. 😜 Think it might have been called something like "Cut the Clutter." Anyway, the author believes the hardest part of many projects is getting started. So she got her cleaning supplies out and scrubbed five squares of her kitchen floor and gave herself permission to stop. The next day she finished it when she had more time. Other times, an entire room needed work, but she took the two minutes she had and put away five things. She had to teach herself to let go of perfection and be as kind to herself as she would to a friend. That concept stuck with me. Love to you and the fam. 🤗
