The legitimately makes me want to flip a table. The Jace/Vraska story from Italian was so well done and actually felt pretty good in terms of building real character relationships that I was hoping it would continue. Unfortunately, it seems like the lack of consistency with writers has screwed up one of the best things to come out of MTG stories in the last few years. Hopefully it'll get restored, because Jace and Vraska work so much better than Jace and Liliana.

As far as I know, Vraska is actually way more toxic to Jace than Liliana ever was. Liliana has grown as a person. And I think that something will happen there. I’m honestly excited for it. Because it will either lead to Vraska becoming good for Jace, or Jace finding a better, healthier, relationship with Liliana. I like both ships. But Jace should go for which one is better, healthier and more stable. Or none of that will happen and we will get thrown a curveball next time more lore gets dropped.

I have only one important and terrifying question: Where is Tezzeret? Last I checked, he still has the planar bridge bound to him, so wherever hes gone, so too goes the bridge. Which I emphasize because Phyrexia is effectively thriving again and just itching to expand to other worlds. Atop that, we know Ashiok is currently seeking phyrexia out, and as we learned when Elspeth pulled the shadowspear from one of her manifested nightmares, Ashioks creations function much to the same degree as their real counterparts, possibly greater given how heliods spear broke while elspeths "shadowspear" remained. If Ashiok finds them, and creates a phyrexian nightmare in another world... it would only take 1 drop of phyrexian oil for all hell to break loose. Worse yet, shes fascinated enough by nightmares to willingly take on the oil herself, possibly allowing the phyrexians to make her "whole" in their image. The twins on Eldraine saw in their vision the rise of a new "Mother of Machines". If the phyrexians claim Ashiok and groom her into their leader, she could very easily fill that role. Alternatively, Tezzeret is now free of a master and wielding power beyond anything he ever knew, and is already linked to machines on a level deeper than most artificers. He's already halfway there, by phyrexian standards, and given most phyrexians are more machine than organic lifeform and Tezzeret's knowledge of Etherium, Darksteel, and Lazotep to fill in the gaps, he could potentially create an army far more frightening and completely unstoppable at his command as their king. Point is, until we know he's well and truly dead, along with whatevers become of Dovin Baan from there, I fear theres a far bigger storm on the horrizon, directly the unintended byproduct of the elder dragon nicol bolas's ambitions.

Hearing about this made me wonder if the writer disliked the pairing. I just thought some more about it and why on Earth would vraska make in essence the exact same deal she made with bolas, when that went terribly wrong and only the luck of finding someone she could both trust and sufficiently knowledgeable about bolas helped her get out of that mess. Now the story sounds even more contrived. Maybe the writer doesn't care for vraska, that might also be a possibility, so the relationship was just collateral damage.

Neither of them seems like they are at that point, maybe jayce, after the whole guildpact era, but thinking that vraska was at that point seems out of character, he isn't that dense. Maybe travel the multiverse together, in a let's go on an adventure kind of way, now that bolas is gone, seems more appropriate for their relationship, that effectively started on ixalan as pirates. Also I only read the freely available story on war of the spark, the little thing posted online, so finding out they gave vraska her memories early seems both silly and taking away a great moment between the two of them, having her switch back at the reminder of their first true time together seems so sweet. I am not against them being open about being in a relationship, just the way it seems to have been turned into a tool to torture both characters. Jace gets betrayed again, because why not and Vraska gets to throw away all her development, so she can basically make the bolas deal again and get forced into servitude again.

*...I'm pretty sure the info of when Jace planeswalked out of Amonkhet is wrong.* If I remember correctly Ugin had placed a sort of seal on Jace's mind. In order to keep his now alive status a secret from Bolas, Ugin made it so that if Bolas ever read Jace's mind the seal would wipe Jace's memories and force him to planeswalk to Ixalan. Since it was a prison it was the safest place in order to keep the secret. ...so no, it wasn't him reading Bolas' mind that caused it, nor did he just decide to planeswalk away on his own.

Then he prioritized testing her over actually getting dovin, which, considering how relatively unstable her position and recent her character growth is, seems rather reckless. I used to not ship Liliana and Jace at all. Vraska and Jace all the way. But as the story has developed, I really am not loving Jace and Vraska anymore. I used to think Liliana was toxic to him. But the entire time she hurt him, it was because she either did it, or died. And she hated it. She repaid her debts to him. And apologized. She cared about him. And still does. Vraska however, had a bad start with jace. They had some bliss on ixalan, sure. But she had shown time and time again she hasn’t changed majorly. And she has chosen the golgari over jace many times. Lying to him and hurting him the entire way. As long as many others. And instead of trying to make up for it, she accuses him of wrongdoings. Severing their relationship. I don’t foresee her apologizing and making anything up. I do foresee Jace and Liliana meeting again. A tearful reunion rekindling a relationship that wasn’t all that toxic to begin with. The only way I see anything healing, is if Jace goes crawling back to Vraska. Even though he didn’t do anything. That’s toxic. And a serious problem. Maybe I’m wrong. I hope I am. But when it comes to shipping, Jace in particular, he should go with what’s better for him. I see that as Liliana, or someone new entirely. Not Vraska unless she actually tries to be right for him.

I'm open to some romance, however it seems like the creators are not as intelligent or creative and are using whatever means to fill up space. Just look at how they are pumping out multiple different cards of the same characters in a single set. they also keep making cards like they go by a checkbox checking off all the cards they need in each set, but they are nothing creative just another hydra with counters, another ange, another demon, another dragon, another this another that. After all the boxes have been checked and all the different versions of each character there are only little original cards left to each set. Just not worth buying or investing in anymore, which explains why bank of America jumped ship. Which also explain why the company is pushing so many alternate arts and ridiculously high priced nonsense merch. Covid didn't kill magic, economy didn't kill magic, but rather the creators of magic killed magic. Due to greed, stupidity and unoriginality.

jace was my favorite of the lorwynn 5. every new version i like him a little less. garruk and ajani i like more and more. chandra im meh on some i like some i dont. i have never liked lilianna and really no version of her. Vraska i disliked at first. after ixalan i love her.

I thought Jace post Ixalan was really good, and the writers did a nice job reestablishing his character, making him more likable, and setting up his relationship with Vraska. Then, it looks as though subsequent authors have completely screwed over the quality writing that came before.
