One day my mom got fed up of seeing the cards always lying around the house. I had just one deck of cards back then. So when I was out she hid the deck and refused to tell me where it was. She said "clean your cupboard first, then I might tell you." I procrastinated and forgot about it after some days. Months later I found the cards in the cupboard.

I started magic in 8th grade when my friend brought in a deck of cards. I shuffled them and did the bridge and everybody thought I was super cool. I liked that feeling, who wouldn't? they were asking for more but I didn't have anything, so that night I went home and looked up "card magic tutorials" and literally spent like 10 hours watching your videos and trying to master the most basic card tricks with the best reveals. This basically sparked my interest in magic and ignited a huge flame which still fascinates me today because I always love to learn and experience new magic tricks. And what makes it even better, is that the community for magic is so... (dare I say) magical because everyone is so supportive. Finally, I would like to say thanks to Chris for inspiring me and indirectly helping me throughout the long, tedious (but fun) path to learning such a fun and lifechanging... hobby? No...habit? No...lifestyle?No. But surely a Passion

I had a magic mentor when I was about 15, he helped me so so much. He became like a grandfather to me after my grandfather died. Sadly, cancer got to my mentor about 6 years ago. He had a very large shed just filled with magic tricks out in his back yard, and had told his wife before he went that he wanted me to clear it out for him and take whatever I could. The most interesting part to me was his magic drawer. So many little funny gag tricks, as well as some real tricks and old photographs that I still have and use today. Magic drawers are a...dare I say? Magical thing to me haha.

I found a Cheeto … a broken Dorito … and a pistachio nut. I assume at some point I was eating a mixed Munchie bag. Probably had a few glasses of wine which put me in a chill state of being … and i probably had a “brilliant” magic idea so I was rifling through all my “magic” drawers … casually and carelessly spilling a bit of my yums along the way. And of course … months later when I went into that drawer … I re-discovered said treats … Funny enough … it turned into a very informative scientific discovery … … what I learned … Cheetos out last Doritos and pistachio nuts outlast all … and even with a stale Dorito in the mix … don’t hesitate to eat month old Magic drawer Munchie mixes … cuz they are super yummie !!! I like MAGIC … but I like Munchies more !!! :)

I had some great memories from that shop, and my mom would drop me off there to hang out and help him with the store. Whip unfortunately had a stroke but fortunately only had limited motion in his left hand. He is like an uncle to me, and he helped me to pursue magic as my passion.

My grandfather gave me an old briefcase with magic stuff that I use to this day. It had rabbit furs and a handled velvet bag with a small lever under the handle to control a compartment separator, high tech stuff! It’s what got me started as a kid and lead to the huge collection of card decks I have now!
