A lot more flash than I use in Alaskan streams. My three favorites, Dalai Lana, egg sucking leech, tabory snake!

Great topic and information! I am interested to learn more about your approach to the line you would pair with the flies in the different conditions such as floating/tapered leader, sink tip (how long and grain), hook sizes (is small 8-10 and big 4-6?) and if you are using spey or single hand rod. Thank you!

Hi there! I really got interested when you mentioned that you guided on the Bella Coola. I've been getting more and more into river fishing with a fly rod (going to buy a switch rod soon), and was wondering what kind of tips on how to fish the Coho in the Bella Coola? The river is always really murky and the fish are tough to connect with there! Thanks for the video!

Large Flash flies in side channels of the main river where clarity is a little better is the tickets on that system. Also atnarko is a great spot to target them at the mouth. Good luck 👍👍

@@PacificAnglerTV Awesome! Thanks for the reply! I did hook some fish where the Atnarko and Bella Coola meet. Were you using Skagit or Scandi lines? I've been hearing mostly Skagit, since the Coho like the deeper water, but someone was recently telling me that they have more luck with the Scandi lines (2 feet of water). Also, my town doesn't have a good fly tying shop... Where could I order material for Coho flies, and also what would be a good starting point for Coho flies (video tutorials)? Thanks a lot for the help!

I am a Spey guy through and through but for coho in side channels it’s all about the strip and a gentle presentation. I hate junctions in line. Switch rod with smooth commando or single hand and sink tip is best bet. Call the shop and we can sort you out on materials. My arrow fly in a larger size than in the video will do bits for you. Video name “poisoned arrow. “

Focus on runs and tailouts. The typical gear fishing pools usually don't produce with flies. I'd use a relatively light tip, as you want your fly fishing right up to the bank you will often get fish 1 or 2ft of water right of the bar. I fish a skagit with light tips, and weighted flies when the river is up, and sometimes just a scandi with a tapered mono leader when things clear later in the fall. And despite everything the internet says they will eat a swung fly, you don't always need to be striping like a mad man.

It’s a simple arrow shaped pattern were we combine one wrap-able flash material over a straight laying flash material. There are lots of variations. Funny enough I am working on a video on how to tie an arrow style pattern Right now .... should be out in the next 2 weeks.

I’m hitting up the check tomorrow. I know with the rain coming in I’ll see levels come up . Hope I can get a few hours before that happens. My question , I only have an intermediate sink line so I hope that will work. Not sure if I should be using full sink .
@armytruck085 жыл бұрын
Not much going on at the Squamish for me today . Tossed a couple patterns out there .Water was a little coloured but fairly clear . Cheakamus was clear and low , again not a lot moving that I could see . Sunwolf pools held lots of coho , guys somewhat hooking up on jigs . By noon the rain started coming and ended at that . Hope it picks up over the next few weeks .
@PacificAnglerTV5 жыл бұрын
I use a tip for most of the check in at type 6. Or t 11 unless I am hitting very slow deep pools and in that case an intermediate is perfect

Roughly $2.99 - 3.99 a fly. Come down to the shop or fire us an email an we can customize a box to where you are fishing.

I call bullshit on the entire premise! Fly choice was maybe 20% of hook up or not factor. Its more how you strip the fly that matters the most.
