I highly recommend the channel Manes by Mel if you're interested in learning more about wavy and curly hair and also about why your hair does different things in different weather (and how to deal with that). Also the new Jordan Samuel Skin body wash is super hydrating. In his video about it, Jordan recommended only using it on the areas of your body that need more moisture and hydration and then using another body wash everywhere else because it's sooo hydrating. Also a bit pricey so that makes it go farther. (and it smells amazing!)

For shampooing, try a double shampoo for cleansing the scalp. The first cleanse starts to break down the products buildup, etc., then rinse, then the second cleanse really cleans the scalp. I find I typically use less shampoo this way, and the second cleanse is where you’ll really notice the lather happening.

I think a lot of the most common sulfates dry out your hair quite a lot, and silicones can cause a lot of build up I think. I have coarse, curly hair that’s pretty dry already so I try to avoid sulfates, and silicones weigh my hair down and make the curls more flat lol But if they don’t cause you any problems then there’s no real reason to avoid them (some people avoid them completely cos they’re not “natural” but idgaf about that 😂)

For the most part you only need to worry if there is sugar in the recipe because that feeds yeast to cause the infection. I’m fairly sure most properly formulated bathbombs don’t have anything that should irritate, unless your body disagrees with fragrance or dies, they’re usually baking soda and citric acid. Also I’m pretty sure I don’t need to tell anyone to not splash anything but clean water up there, but definitely do not put bath water you’ve been soaking in of any kind inside of you, unless there is a serious problem your downstairs cleans itself and shouldn’t be ‘helped’
@truthforanimals6883 жыл бұрын

Seen it in the comment sections already, but thought it was worth emphasizing that you should be really cautious around using walnut shells on your body. Lots of skincare youtubers have talked about it (including Lab Muffin Beauty who you've mentioned before), but it's just really easy to apply too much pressure when using physical exfoliants, particularly on the face. Skin typically looks and feels great at first, but over applying these products (which is very hard to assess on a day to day basis) leads to hypersensitivity, dehydration, and breakout prone skin. Glad to hear you + partner are seeing positive results, but please be cautious that the effects may be unsustainable and ultimately harmful! Worth noting on this is that the microtear rumours, which a lot of people tend to ring the alarm about when it comes to walnut shells, don't appear to have much concrete & linked scientific basis from what I've seen, but the hypersensitivity and dehydration are both red flags that still stand.

I also only condition the end bits of my hair never the length or scalp, to condition the scalp i use applecidervinager with water, this clean the scalp and reset to hp, but also soften your hear. Living Proof Perfect Hair Day shampoo and conditioner is my actual HG. The Triple Detox shampoo keeps my hair clean for days (I wash every 4-5 days now) and my hairdresser has told me my hair is in better condition. Hubz can run his fingers thru my hair for the first time, ever, without snags. It's also the most expensive shampoo I've ever used oof but I get it at Ulta and their loyalty system is the bomb. I also love Sun Bum leave-in treatment and their heat protectant spray is my favorite. I squeeze my hair with a towel (no turbans! they lead to breakage!) and use the leave-in, then let my hair air dry until it's slightly damp and then I go in with the heat protectant and blast it with a blow-dryer for a couple minutes.

A game changer for applying moisturizer every time you shower is just keeping a tub of a thick cream (cerave, cetaphil, etc) or your lotion of choice in your bathroom and apply it to your skin while it is still damp. This way you don't get cold and the cream gets spread easier. Also, you prevent TEWL, whick keeps your skin softer and healthier.

I really appreciate your comment about cruelty-free label and China testing policy. First Aid Beauty recently started selling their products in China and even though their site states that they worked with the company to ensure that the products as manufactured and sold will not require tests on animals under Chinese government regulations, that doesn't eliminate the risk of post-market animal tests, which can be done without the company’s knowledge or consent. I was a bit disappointed cause I heard a lot of praise for their products, but this discouraged me from purchasing any of them. After this video, I think my mindset changed a little bit. Although I still prefer buying products from companies that refuse to expand to China because of their testing policy (I highly respect that kind of devotion), it's true that we should also look at the actions of the "not so cruelty-free" companies that are trying to make a difference even more than some "truly cruelty-free" ones...and the fact that First Aid Beauty is doing their best to eliminate the testing as much as possible while exporting to China is kind of cool.

If you want an eco groovy razor, get a safety razor. Those use the old school double edged razor blades. The blades are all steel, so they can be recycled. I have steel sharps container for spent blades. Once it's full the whole thing will get recycled. I have two vegan shaving soaps and a synthetic shaving brush. I use it to shave all over. Although I haven't tried it on my lady bits. You do run a higher risk of nicking yourself. But with practice it's not bad. Besides being more eco groovy, the blades are hella cheap. I'd recommend avoiding products with SLS, can be very stripping and irritating to the skin/scalp and is in a lot of the cheaper hair products. I think you'd like a shower oil, they typically break down into a milk and don't strip. L'occitane Almond Shower Oil is heavenly but pricier that average. The FAB KP scrub is effective but you may enjoy an AHA or BHA body lotion as it works better left on the skin
@sabrinavonhoegen42623 жыл бұрын
The comment regarding that animal testing is already forbidden in the EU, thus the label "cruelty free" is nothing but a marketing scam is not entirely correct. Yes, testing make up and other beauty products can not be testing in the EU anymore. Some ingredients in those products get used elsewhere (wallpaint, for example), and those are even required to be tested on animals. So I don't see anything inherently wrong with the label, since it ensures, that those kinds of ingredients are not used in the product.

If you're looking to ditch your shampoo some days and still feel clean after a workout, you should look into an actual co-wash. They have some surfactants but nothing harsh (sulphate/ites) Also, I'd recommend choosing conditioners without silicone, ESPECIALLY if you're going to use on your scalp. The silicone will build up and make your hair actually feel greasier. Could also clog up the skin on your scalp and cause issues there too.
