Using personal experiences and historical research, Dr. Mark Benn explores the concept of prejudice and offers individual ways to address it.
Mark Benn is the father of six children (most of them adults) and has spent his entire life trying to understand prejudice. He is originally from Philadelphia but has made Colorado his home for over 30 years.
Dr. Benn received his doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado in 1986. He has found a way to combine the talents of a university professor and storyteller to deliver difficult messages about prejudice, cross-cultural communication, gender roles, workplace mediation and personal struggle. For the past 35 years, Dr. Benn has been
educating and entertaining audiences with his irreverent humor and disarming honesty as he challenges people to examine their own lives and reflect on how they can better understand and reduce prejudice.
Dr. Benn has a private practice as a psychologist in Fort Collins, Colorado and works as a consultant and educational/motivational speaker for companies throughout the United States.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

I had the good fortune of taking a seminar class from Dr. Mark Benn, and in that class, we candidly discussed what was in our folders. Of all of the cultural diversity coursework that I have taken (and I've taken many!), that course taught me so much about myself and changed how I engage with clients. I'm so glad that his wisdom is here for everyone to hear.
