Good morning bigstacks I'm having trouble emailing you. Thank you I like your video on the belt my son tells me he keeps buying belts from Walmart and they kept breaking so that's why I made my first belt.but I like your Idea of buying the blanks all ready cut and the keepers are cheap

@wendelbeatty1144; Try hitting me up on social media on FB or IG @bigstacksshop. Yeah, Wal-Mart belts suck. That genuine leather is going to crack within 4-6 months of regular wear.

Very useful info. I was looking at those W mart belts on line. I think I 'll pass. They offer a single piece brown belt with obvious cut edged - real leather, but the face looks heat pressed split grain rather than full grain to me. Best to start from scratch I guess.

Majority of people see word-- Genuine, and think, oh its the best!! Lol

@Terry-n1i Exactly, "Genuine" must be great stuff ... the real deal! That's some shady marketing.

As leather craftsmen we know our product is the "real deal" but I think the Walmart belt is just fine. There appears to be a significant amout of real leather, commensurate with the price. The top part which we see is not real leather so I find that distasteful, but I challenge anyone to build a comparable belt they could sell at any profit.

If we sold this product we would be sued for false advertising. The belt claims to be full grain leather and is not. Any small shop would cease to be trying to do this. Trying to beat the bottom, is a race to the bottom.

@nickybeingnicky A race to the bottom is a loss for everyone. Thank you for sharing.

@paulsimonetti1608 I can say I agree with you on some of this, but not all of it. That belt will probably end up cracking within 3-6 months of daily wear. And it's definitely a belt that you can probably sell for $12 and still make a profit. I think making a better belt and charging a higher price can still yield you a profit, but it wouldn't be a $12 belt. Thank you for sharing, my friend.

I guess I have to disagree about quality of that fleshy corium leather core. Corium is only good for gaskets. Full grain leather has a lot more tinsel strength than the corium split . I used to make drive belts for antique machinery, and I have really seen this in action I understand that trouser belts should not have that kind of loads on them, but it is still frustrating to have a belt tear at the hole you always use. I agree about the low price, I just resent W mart's misleading advertising. Unfortunately, it is a current industry standard that if something is made from any part of the hide it can be labeled "genuine" leather. I would have rather seen a Nylon core.

This "instead of" in the name of the envoirement makes me angry. The process in making faux leather is poisonus the product it self is poisonus in the end of its cirkel ir will not go back to earth no we are to burn it as with faux wood, the smoke will be as highly poluting so there needs to be a filter filtering the smoke and as the filter is full where does it go? Insane and what do we do with all them hides that would give us all the genuine leather that we ever need? Them are as burned because there is no demand except for premium quality.
