Hey Kate! It's Michael or Mike! LOL! WOW! Glad you liked my package! It was alot of stuff! And alot of fun putting together! Yes! i have eaten all the candy you sent me! The Cadbury is the best! The photos were taken in the middle of June, thats when the car show was. And yes they were from a photo lab, i shot them on film, sometimes film is easier. Not familiar with the summer camp your sister went too, upstate New York is BIG, i am about 90 miles north of New York city, if you google map the zip code 12580 or Staatsburg, New York thats where i am. Kinda in the middle of the state. Yes, there is no American version of "Doctor Who". When i was little there was a t.v. station (this was before cable) that play British t.v. shows. Docotor Who, Fawlty Towers with John Cleese, Benny Hill. In fact i have a younger brother named Colin, becaues my perants saw a whole bunch of English movies. My mother loved everything British! Which is why you seem me at Stonehenge! WOW! You liked the 100grand candy bar, let me go in the corner with the lights off and cry a moment. Ironically, there was a few other candies that did not make it in the box! It was starting to get really big, so i just focused on the ones that you might not of already had, and all the stuff i remember as a kid. YES, those baseball card were off e-bay, and they are from 1986. Say it with me Brett Sa-ber-hey-ga-in. Picture for the Kansas City Royles, he is the guy that throws the ball to the batter. Oh, they are starting to put up all the Chirsmass stuff in the stores already, they skip right over Thanksgiving (no Big money in it), always have. Loved the video! We are having a very rainy, and cloudy fall, over here in New York, i guess you would call it British weather LOL! :)

Thats so cool that they used to play our British shows over in the US. Haha thats awesome. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Stonehenge. Haha yeah! Hi Kate and Alex the mystery behind Hershey’s chocolate and why it tastes so different from you British Galaxy, actually comes from our U.S. Military. During the time periods of World War I and World War II Hershey’s was contracted by our military to mass produce a special kind of chocolate that could achieve multiple use including baking. Kate you got real close in this video when you said the special dark mini bar tastes like “bakers chocolate”. You are correct! Hershey’s was a main staple for our troops abroad and its recipe gave them a whole bunch of uses with its chocolate (coffee, pancakes, or just a sweet chocolate bar). We had so many troops in need of this staple that we called to our women (still tending to the traditional role of “takes care of the home”) to “come out of the kitchen” and help feed our troops. Women’s liberation was to get out in the work force and take up jobs such as bakers in the Hershey’s chocolate factory to support our troops. This is why their generation was named the G.I. Generation in America. After the wars ended America loved all that Hershey stood for and represented that to honor this Hershey’s kept the multi use recipe of their chocolate and you are tasting history still today.
@jenniferglover99056 жыл бұрын
It might not be the fanciest chocolate but we grew up with it, so thats what we think of as chocolate. I figured it had more wax in it idk. I love how the Hershey kiss has that dull snap when you bite it.. addictive. Love the video and thanks Mike great info/vibe on everything ❤

I'm only 14 minutes in, but I have to comment on the baseball cards. Three of the four players are famous. Harold Reynolds was a second baseman who spent most of his career with the Seattle Mariners, and is now a commentator for Fox Sports and the MLB Network. Bret Saberhagen was a starting pitcher who played his best years for the Kansas City Royals; he was the Most Valuable Player in the 1985 World Series, won the Cy Young award twice (this is given to the best pitcher in each major league), pitched a no-hitter in 1991, was selected for the All Star Game three times, won a Gold Glove award (given to the best fielder at each position), and led his league in Earned Run Average in 1989. Ron Guidry was a starting pitcher who played his entire career for the New York Yankees; he won the Cy Young award in 1979, appeared in four All Star games, and won five Gold Glove awards. Chris Brown was in Major League Baseball for only six seasons. His accomplishments don't match the first three.

The round red and white peppermint candies you tried are a very popular after meal candy. A lot of restaurants in the US have a tray, plate, bowl, etc... of those candies, or other peppermint candies that customers can take as they walk out of the restaurant. I'm not 100% sure but I guess that the purpose is to make your breath smell better, in case you've eaten an onion or something else stinky (at least that's how I've always used peppermint candies).

Great box. I used to love the candy lips, chew on them to get all the flavour then spit it out. Nobody wanted to swallow the wax. I laughed when I saw the strip of paper with the candy dots stuck to it. I was given some vintage candy from the 1960's and there was a package of them inside. I never ate them, kept them in a basket in the kitchen. I was caring for my sister who had lung cancer and my living room was set up like a hospital room. She kept wanting her anxiety pill but it was never time to give it to her, but she was really persistant. I didn't know what to do, then I remembered that strip of candy dots. I pulled 1 off that was the same colour as her anxiety pill and gave it to her, telling her it was her medicine. Worked just like a placebo and calmed her down. Her Doctor said it was a great that I had thought of doing that. We all loved the baseball cards when we were kids in the 1960's. We used to play a game called tops, we each threw the cards against a wall and if your card topped your friend's card you got to keep it.

Funny story about smarties and my sister. She is 4 years older than me. I was maybe 3 years old. At night she would lay in bed with me until I fell asleep. One night I wasn’t ready for bed so she gets a package of smarties and gives me 2 of them. She told me to eat them because they were medicine to help me get sleepy. Caddy shack was partially filmed in a town 15 minutes from where I live and there is a large mural on a building there now!

Ove had almost all of these, I love the- whistle pop, peanut chews, chewing gum, the grape flavor you tried( chewing tobacco one), the wax lips I was also always confused on cause I never knew whether to eat it or not. I didn't like the colored drops, or big red (but I love Bring It On lol), the fireballs, laffy taffy, fireballs, dots, or York peppermint patties. Never knee they had the red licorice shaped pipes, I only knew of the black licorice ones cause they were in a box on the counter at the customer service desk I worked at, (no one ever purchased them lol)

We loved those lips when we were young we bought them all the time as kids we hated those peppermint candies. But as a parent they're great for treating a baby with collic if you don't have fresh peppermint to use

No way! Did you used to eat them? Or just play with them? Oh really, thats interesting to know ☺️

As a child of the 70's and 80's I have tried everything that you were sent. Never liked Good & Plenty(and still don't), Jelly fruit slices were always a favorite. You defiantly got a great assortment.

What a cool box!! I was born in the 80's and a lot of this stuff reminded me of my childhood! The wax lips are garbage!! I remember those. There were also these little wax bottles with juice or sugar water sold back in the day to that were nasty and pointless! My favorite candies from the 80/90s were liquid lollipop type thing. It came in a toothpaste looking tube and the sweetart chewy candy that came 4 in a pack... grape and sour apple were my favs. It,also came with lemon and cherry. So fun to watch!!

we used to have a cartoon called lamb chops here in the US. but the lady on the show Sherrie died from cancer. it was heartbreaking. "this is the song that doesn't end, yes it goes on and on my friend, some people started singing it not knowing what it was, but they'll continue singing it forever just because this is the song that doesn't end... yes it goes on and on my friend...." KZbin the lamb chops song please!!

Forgot to comment this on the last American candy video...I learned once that the sickly or odd taste that you taste when eating a Hershey milk chocolate bar, is said to resemble the after taste of cheese, due to the high dairy content of the chocolate!! That could be the aftertaste you were mentioning?? A coworker of mine was told that by a worker at the Hershey Chocolate Museum in Pennsylvania.
