I always love the spooling up whine sound the early 30s buicks have when they take off. Ive got the 1931 model 57 with the straight 8 engine I hope to hae like this some day

Double clutching is unnecessary. Don't shift so quickly! Take it easy! A 1930 car isn't designed for a quick shift like modern sports cars. Hold the clutch down, move the shift easily to neutral and then easily into gear, giving the gears time to slow their spin to they mesh easily. I've never double shifted an early car. Be careful or I'll come down to Fairhaven and give you lessons!

😅😅😅 Fair enough. I just might have to take you up on that! 😂 To be perfectly honest, I was probably trying to shift a lot more quickly than I should’ve been. I obviously wasn’t trying to bang through them like a sports car. However, I can see how just taking my time would’ve benefited, rather than rushing it. I will admit though, the double clutching surely seemed to help it shift more smoothly either way. Also, the owner, Dom, didn’t recommend that I slow down/let the clutch do the work and take your time so the gears could mesh, etc. I think he was just happy and impressed that I didn’t stall it once! 😅 Next time I drive a very early car though, I promise that I won’t try to hurry the gear shifts, and I’ll let the transmission do its thing, at it’s own pace. 😁 Either way, thanks for commenting, and I really hope you enjoyed the review video! Thanks! I appreciate you checking out the video. If you enjoyed it, please make sure to leave me a like, and also consider subscribing to the channel! It’s free to you, and it really helps me out to grow, so I sincerely appreciate it. That is awesome that you drove it that far, let alone 500 miles in one day! That is seriously impressive. I thought driving my 1990 Miata to New Hampshire, Maine, and back from Massachusetts totaling about 550 miles in one day was impressive. You have me beat for sure! I’ll have to take a peek at that video on your channel. Take care, and have a good one! -Mark

Wow now THAT is cool! That's a once in a lifetime chance to be able to drive something like that. It seemed stressful as hell to drive 😳 beautiful car, preserved so well. That speedometer gotta be the coolest one I ever seen too. What a pristine interior. Crazy to see how far vehicles have come and what we take for granted in today's cars

It sure was Agera! And you are correct. It honestly was QUITE challenging, yet VERY entertaining to drive. Would I drive it again? Absolutely! Would I want to drive it every day? Not AT ALL lolll The interior was completely done over by Dom himself! Isn't that crazy? I'd trust him with my car, that's for sure. I also got a huge kick out of the speedo. You definitely don't see stuff like that often. It is truly amazing to see how far vehicles have come to modern times. I jumped in my '08 Accord after the shoot and thought, "OMG this is so easy! I'm not grinding gears every second no matter what I do!!!" Hahaha but what was funny was what Dom said off camera... "For the 1930's, this beats the hell out of a horse and buggy." Which I completely agree with! Thanks as always for checking it out my man!

If that doesn't have a synchronized transmission You should be able to float the gears. I hate double clutching.
@DoubleClutchAutoReviews
@DoubleClutchAutoReviews Жыл бұрын
To be honest, I always knew it as the opposite. It makes more sense that the synchros would allow for smoother shifting without double clutching. Correct me if I'm wrong as I am not a master mechanic, but that's what I have learned. I'm not sure if this car had synchros or not, but I'm going to guess it didn't lol. I can ask the owner, Dom if you are curious though! I will say, sometimes I could shift quite smoothly from 2nd to 3rd (with double clutching). However, getting into 1st always made a little grind no matter what. Dom said it was normal.

In the race world synchronizers are called blocking rings,They only work good When everything is set up right. A lot of your car buffs Will know When they first put synchronizers in the transmissions, That is the standard transmissions. If you've driven a class 8 tractor trailer with a standard transmission They have no synchronizers. You either Wear you leg out double clutching or you learn how to float the gears.
@DoubleClutchAutoReviews
@DoubleClutchAutoReviews Жыл бұрын
@@lawrencejneuser8801 Ahh gotcha, that makes sense. I don’t have any experience with a tractor trailer, but I can imagine that being quite the left leg workout if you don’t learn to float the gears. I will say though, thankfully this car’s clutch wasn’t really that stiff at all, so it wasn’t a big issue for me. You can probably guess by the name of my channel that I prefer the double clutching technique! Hahaha I also would prefer to shift more quickly through gears, rather than wait for the revs to match and allow for “smooth float”. However, I bet with a tractor trailer, shifting speed isn’t your goal, rather saving your leg for what’s left of the 10-hour haul lol. I hope you enjoyed the video either way, and thanks for watching! If you enjoyed it, please consider liking and subscribing as well! I really appreciate it.
