I hope my husband finds full sobriety one day. He has cut his drinking back which I’m thankful for. However he is bipolar also and says drinking is the only thing that shuts his brain off (along with his meds) He’s had had 45 days sober before and apparently years ago went over 3 years sober. I know he can do it. Amber your videos have helped me so much!! I’ve learned how to help him and myself with positivity.

Girl, I didn't realize what "good sleep" was until I quit drinking. I had the 3 am wake up call for YEARS. I would lie in bed every night and toss and turn w/racing thoughts and a pounding heart. Good sleep came immediately when I quit drinking. Good sleep is better than any drug or drink out there 100%. If I am having a bad day, bc some days are just shitty, I literally go to bed early, even if its 7:00 p.m

The info you give out to the families and to people, such as myself, that have had problems with addiction, well it’s just priceless. Gaining more understanding is absolutely key to knowing how the whole process works. I’ll betcha there’s so many people who watch or listen and think “How does she know my story?” That’s how predicable addiction is. But you just don’t know, until you do. This was a great episode with Anthony. He speaks truth about the struggles, but he also gives ideas and strategies on how to stay sober. He talks about grounding techniques, and distraction techniques to keep you on the right path. He also talks about wins and how great it is to be on the opposite side of addiction. This information and his valuable testimony are invaluable. I would like to that you both for this particular video today. It was outstanding !

Hello, I'm currently fighting drug and alcohol addiction. The thing about it is it isn't my addiction, it's my girlfriend's. I say I'm fighting because I feel more at war with it than her but she is putting in a tremendous amount of work to fight also. She hasn't worked a job in over 4-5 years but she is currently working now and has been for 2 months. She's been sober from meth since about June. From meth she was substituting with coke/ crack. She relapsed on that a week and half ago after a month off. Her drinking addiction is actually worse than the drugs were. She just cannot stop. Doesn't matter the hangovers or sickness she goes rite back. I'm at a very close point of being done with the fight but what keeps me goin is her children. Even though she doesn't have custody of them and it's been years I know they would all benefit from being with each other. Her children deserve the great woman she is and one of them communicates with her now giving her hope. We fight a lot about her drinking because I have family trauma from alcohol and substance abuse. We fight because I can see how desperate she gets from not using and it makes me think of all the sacrifices she made to get what she wanted when she didn't have money. She gets really naive and friendly making it easy for anyone to take advantage of her. She doesn't care about what problems arise from her when's she drunk and with it all she lies alot. I've dealt with everything and I'm pretty done dealing with it. I also try to hold on tight because I know if I give up on her there's no getting her back, she'll go down the drain. I know I have to worry about myself more first but she's not just a girlfriend she's my friend and I have a hard time putting myself first when I know she needs my help. Reality for me is that I can't keep up with the help needed because I'm so drained from the road already. Shes had a break in relapse and then tries again. I haven't had any break just fighting fighting fighting and dealing with the lies. I'm introducing her to your videos tonight and try to watch one every morning. Thank you for helping me understand what I didn't.

Question: My husband has been sober for 7 months after 15 years of alcohol. During that time he hurt and traumatized me. I see amazing growth in him, making it much easier to be patient with him. He has empathy, he is thoughtful and loving. But he shuts down any time I visibly feel my pain. Is our history something we can one day talk about, or do I need to lock up my pain around him forever?

It will get better. It's still really fresh. I'm sure he has a lot of shame about it too. The longer he's sober, the more ego strength he will build.

Forced sobriety? Our son ( age 42) had 2 strokes due to untreated blood pressure and an alcoholic. Now, 7 mos. later without alcohol, been through hospital stays to inpatient rehab for medical and physical therapy’s, to outpatient intense therapies (OT, PT, speech for aphasia). Could our son still feel urge to drink? Does not talk about alcohol or express any desire. Has been warned not to have any alcohol for at least a year or ever by doctors. Not sure what his memories are of his life before stroke . Praying the sobriety lasts forever as he continues to make progress with all his therapies.

There’s always something I have no idea what to do… I had psychologist working with me for 2 years I joined NA and still go to the meetings done a therapy but for some reason this demon is haunting me and it seems to be getting worse and worse every time I relapse. I started having thoughts that maybe I didn’t reach my bottom yet but bloody hell where is it? I’m pretty functional in all of this… I’m a father and husband I run a small business bought a house and a nice car… but I realise where I’m heading and I’m scared to death that I’m going loose everything that I worked for all my life. I’m really confused and I’m loosing hope

My 35 year old son is has been an alcoholic since he was 15 and most often I can never tell if he's sober or not. Now he drinks a half gal of vodka a day. He can still walk and talk slurring his speech a little and blow a .419. Last Feb he was caught by police for wrecking his vehicle into a tree exclaiming "I'm drunk as s***t" to the police (according the the public record). He tells me all these great things he's doing but I know he's still lying. Court date is Jan 17th and it's DWI #3 IF the prosecutor looks at all records. He can't stay sober for more than 2 days and has been in ICU detoxes more than 20 times in the past 10 years, 4 since August. Every detox he seems so "ready" to be sober. Nothing has worked so far so I took him an hour away (he said he wanted to get some rehab services but the next day he called and said they denied him due to no availability) and he's now homeless. I have not heard from him in 24 hours so I hope he's OK. I feel bad because he wanted me to come get him as I have been doing but I encouraged him to keep trying to get some help. When I let him stay with me he figures out how to drink and then he gets in trouble with police (has DTs and does dumb things) so I can't let him stay anymore. I'm learning a lot from your videos how I have ruined everything by being angry with him over the years. I'm going to start being a great chess player from now on and use some of your strategies! I'm also taking care of myself more and refusing to give him a dime.

My alcoholic doesn't feel joy. We've been friends for about 15 years. The last 7 romantically involved. He stopped laughing or have any happiness about 4 years ago. All joy just disappeared, even when he's drunk. It's incredibly sad. It's really hard to love and live with a person who doesn't laugh or feel joy. When I show my joy outwardly he acts like I'm mentally unstable. It's just a other way he attempts to gaslight me. Fyi, it's normal to feel joy for the simple pleasure of walking in the sun on a fresh spring day. It's normal to talk with your friends and laugh from a humorous conversation. It's normal to dance a little in your kitchen when a song you love comes on. It's normal that when you sing a song you love to feel happy about it. What isn't normal is just staring ahead blank, feeling you are to superior to relax and have fun, or flashing to anger over every single thing.

Amber, I'm at the end of a relapse. But something is telling me the opiate powder im taking is fake. For multiple reasons, 1, I'm not constipated at all. 2, my brain doesn't feel like it's on an opiate. When you're taking hard stuff, there's this feeling us addicts have in our brains where we can almost feel that there's opiates in our brains. I don't get that feeling with this stuff. I don't feel fear when i run out, it tastes like rotten orange peel lol, and it's the same consistency, the powder. Almost like it's just the same cutting agent. I don't feel any brain changes when i take it, i actually feel sober. I know it sounds crazy, but the guy i get from is known for selling fake stuff witch is why i chose to relapse on his stuff, not my old dealers who i know have hard stuff. I can sleep 10 hours wake up normal. No cold sweating no extreme cravings, nothing. BUT the ritual is what im not shaking right now and it's killing me 😢. I make videos, check them out if you can, helping people get off opiates and benzos just by using their drug. I call it black book advice lol, i get hundreds of emails from people saying I saved their lives. And yet here i am, stuck and I'm literally on the edge of being clean. I just don't have the motivation amber 😢😢 help me lol

Penal system is so broken - its depressing. And you dont know about it, until you either made a bad decision - or what is more often the case, addiction and mental illness leads people there. Also 60% + of our jails are for probation/parole violations. They use to extend probation to convicts - so when they get out - they get 1 year probation, if they pissed dirty - not only were they send to jail for 30+ days - their 1 year probation, over time and violations, turned into 5-10 years of probation. The who for profit jail system is DISGRACE to say the least.
