In this video we will look at my 1974 Z28 and then see two others which recently crossed the block at a Florida and a Oklahoma City auction. We will compare the condition of the cars and see the values

My Camaro is rusted and scraped up on the outside sort of like bumble bee was in transformers however under the hood the part are brand spanking new, my Camaro to me is priceless.

I own a numbers matching completely restored 74 Z28 in medium red with a 4 speed. The only after market addition is A/C by vintageair and 1000 miles since the restoration. My first car as a 16 year old kid in 1978 was a 74 Z28 and I regretted selling it all those years ago which is why I looked so long for this car. Actually I am surprised they do not sell for more since there were only 18,000 produced. It took me 3 years to find this one. I loved your white Z28 with the LT package. Those are even more rare.

It is good to find someone with a similar passion. With all my cars when I tell people the 74 z is my favorite they think I’m crazy. It is all about you history with the car. Thanks for watching

I wasn't expecting it to be worth that much. I just bought one for $5,000 it has a blown head gasket and needs a new paint job but still.

@@jeffsiebels7082 Go for it! 4 months after I bought it I went to the Chevy dealer and ordered all the good 1970 LT-1 parts like the solid lifter cam, Z/28 aluminum intake and Holley carb and swapped them on along with headers. Made a good difference. Miss those good ol days!

Interesting video. I'm the original owner of a 1974 Z28 LT. Silver, 4-speed, 9000 original miles, all original except for tires, battery, headliner. Would love to know the value of it. The '74 was never the most popular year but was still a great looking car.

1974 Z’s are hard to find in original condition in the right venue your car would do well need the right buyers in the room. As I said in my videos it is one of my favorites.

$30,000+ seems high to me. On the plus side the car is fairly rare for Camaros in general. The car also is a '74 so it's the last model produced without all the mandated emissions equipment that happened for '75 model year. This is where the good part ends for me though. The unfortunate part for the '74 is found in Bumpers. Crash testing mandated the use of bumper systems that could survive a 5 mph "bump" without need to visit a body shop every time. For the Camaro a proper covering of the big heavy mandated bumpers wouldn't happen until 1978. For me the '74-'77 Camaros are all the least desirable of the 2nd generation on appearance alone. I like that this car is something I could take to a car show an honestly expect that it would be the only one like it there at the time.......but that appearance, with those bumpers.....are what would keep me from paying up for the car.

I generally agree with your comments for the overall collector car market. But for 16 year olds working at a Chevy lot in 1974 it was the best. It still hangs in my memories . Thanks for comments

@@americandreamgarage3054 Time fixes everything in the end. I'm a couple of years younger than you if were 16 in '74. I remember these cars really well too. It's really no big surprise the '70-'73 models are the most desirable today. They tick all the boxes for great appearance without compromise and they are not weighed down by the whole emissions era stigma. The '74 is actual pretty unique among the Camaros of the 2nd generation when you look back at why people want or like any of the individual years out of the 11 year run of the 2nd Generation. Tough bumper appearance yet also not an emissions era car.

Wow was checking out your site and low and behold you have 74 Z28. I've been watching them also. Their kind of all over the map on eBay when you can find one. $40,41. range out of Fla. for a low mile original looking. Kind a steep, but what the market will bear. Like you, a non-real Z28 or Lt Z28 you just let them go on by. You're owning a real deal; you know what's what when checking out cars on the market. Can you show us what makes that a Z and not a phony?? Yea I check Vin.'s and suspensions that are add On's. But once you own a car you get to see all the little things that can help see through a want a be. That red one was a dead giveaway. Funny how these older and slower cars are picking up in value. Also, can you show us what you've done to make yours so nice?? My first new car was a 72 El Camino with a 350 & 350 turbo hydro. It was Placer Gold. The color kind of grows on ya. Never had any trouble with it! Traded it for that 74 T/A. THANKS

Tony Thanks for comments. I am trying to do videos on your topics. I fit them in between buying and selling, restoring and repairing. For me now, the secret is buying quality to start. Restorations are expensive. The white Z I bought 15 years ago for $16,000

@@americandreamgarage3054 Thanks for the reply, yup all in good time. Your tip is a good one. That difference between a keeper and one for sell can be Huge. I've been updating a 90-corvette trying to keep it stock. Parts are costly with one-year items so like you said start with Quality. Bought as a keeper, if sold to get something else, somebody who buys it will get a Steal not having to do all service work and parts. Market is not strong with non-ZR1 corvettes. Even low mileage, like new. Get in an enjoy kind. The price on your Z 15 years ago. Was that high for the time? I was into Mustangs at that time, so never really watched Camaros. By the looks of it you made a really good investment. A win-if you keep, a win if you sell.
