You know what I really enjoy about Invincible over the other "what if superheroes but blood?"-type show out there The Boys? There's still optimism and good guys in Invincible. Mark, the Guardians of the Globe, etc, are still ostensibly good people who want to use their powers to be heroic and save others. Even Cecil doing shady government shit is still looking at things with the lens of "how can we make the world work when there's evil Superman?" type stuff happening and with the goal of keeping people safe. The Boys isn't bad of course, but it's just non-stop cynicism and dourness and just everyone being a cunt, and after 2020 I'm just kinda personally over that much pessimism in my entertainment. To each their own though!

Monster Girl is funny to me because I'd previously read Black Hammer, which has a Shazam analog, Golden Gail, who has the inverse of the problem: She gained her powers as a little girl and so whenever she transforms into her superhero form, she's physically that. When she transforms back to normal, she's her actual age. And now she's a middle-aged woman so it has become weird for her and more than a little messing with her head (plus there's a weird crossover complication with her two "lives") and in the story's circumstances, she's trapped in her Golden Gail form.
