One thing I wanna see for Sunny and the G5 series on a whole is that there are likely still some Earth Ponies, Unicorns and Pegasi distrustful towards each other because that amount of prejudice and xenophobia does NOT completely go away overnight. And Sunny and her friends have to maintain balance Team Avatar Style. And Speaking of Avatar I actually am going by the idea that Sunny’s horn and wings are her “Avatar State” and considering how there are likely no Alicorns left I believe Equestrian Magic chose her to be a vessel for like I said before restoring balance.

While Sunny wrote the letter years ago, it was Izzy who, all alone, made the initial journey... They also stuck by to be right there when Sunny figured out the third piece. I think Izzy deserved alicornhood at least as much as Sunny did.

The end credits scene also gives some ideas for a story arc as well :) We have the obvious magic return for unicorns and pegasii flight, but that trail of rainbow hoof prints left behind by the Earth Pony kid... Exploring what magic Earth Ponies themselves may have, along with the aforementioned Crystals and Ye Olde Equestria story arc. The exploration about how the rift between the tribes might be something in the works as well, since the only information we have thus far regarding that is a tidbit at the start about Earth Ponies fighting a battle and driving the others away...

What Sprout said in that scene must be taken with a grain of salt at least for now since the ponies have probably forgotten so much about their past that no one knows how the tribes came to fall away from one another or what circumstances or events exactly transpired during that fallout.

Given the quantity of assumptions and propaganda about the nature of the other tribes shown in Maretime Bay, it's safe to assume the history might have been written with a pro-Earth-Pony spin to some past conflict. As for the hoofprints, I can't decide if it's a hint of Earth Pony magic, or a visual callback to Sunny's pro-friendship stickers near the beginning of the movie. Or both.

I have several (3) points about Argyles room 1. A fossilized dragon footprint, dragons are ancient creatures so it is unsurprising that something like that exists, but hypothetically if this was spike's footprint (as I belief is the implication) then but the time of Gen 5 small spike is so old his footprints are fossilized, or maybe he kicked a rock really really hard. 2. A purple feather, Incased in a glass jar presumable to protect and preserve it, now while this could be any feather, it's position in the room next to the Da Vinci drawing of Twilight and the sticky note of twilights cutiemark heavily implies that at least Argyle believes this is a feather from twilight, I'm not quite sure how long it would take for a feather to decompose but that would significantly short the time gap, especially since we can't handwave it with magic because... there's no magic 3. That is Grogars Bell! Like straight up! One of the most powerful magic items in history capably of containing some of the most powerful magic ever is just stilling on a bunch of books in this guys house. I guess the anti-magic effects of the three gems are powerful enough to neutralize grogars magic, something that even gusty the great couldn't do.

Also Sprout says at the beginning of the film that there was apparently a “big battle” which most likely had ponies slaughtering a good amount of each other.

Some with the yaks, griffins and kirins. We also can't forget the Crystal Empire did Flurry destroy it, did it go into hiding when mistrust started forming?

Theres one thing that's been running through my mind. The maps of "ancient" equestria and the map of where the mane 5 live don't exactly match up is zephyr heights is taken as where Canterlot once was. I'm more of the idea that the Undiscovered West on the old G4 updated maps IS where the three tribes G5 homes were established during Twilight's rein when the land was explored and ultimately colonised. The posters in zephyr heights abandoned station pretty much confirm that. In fact Zephyr heights may be the sister city to Canterlot that was built after the series and comic only season 10.

I think so too. The world in G5's pilot movie is definitely different from where G4's home used to be. It'll be exciting if they get to explore them again, if they can be seen as ruins. 😁 I remember that episode in G4's Season 5 when Twilight is in her second season as an alicorn princess, but she decided to return back to where she began in her Canterlot home back in the first episode ever. It was a lot of eerie, somber, yet nostalgic feeling all over that place, and I want some G5 episodes to do just that, but amplify it to 11! 😃

You asked us what we think, so, here are my predictions/theories: I believe that the show will revolve around Earth Ponies magical potential(as shown in after credit scene) as well as uncovering the past and the tragedy that eventually became the present day. On the topic of tragic past here are a few ideas 1. I believe that as division was emerging between the main pony races 3 crystals were created by Twilight to absorb and store the magic of each race as punishment for pony bigotry. However, not all ponies followed in that hatred. 2. 1 pony from each of the 3 races were chosen to safekeep their crystals and were informed that magic will not return, even if the crystals are reunited. Ponies had to be ready as a whole before a restoration could take place 3. As time went on, keepers would pass their knowledge onto their decendents. However, not all decendents believed what they were told. Choosing the belief of the masses over their parent's teachings. 4. Eventually, a pegasus keeper would fall to pride and ambition and use deceit to use their crystal to elevate themselves into royalty. Destroying the keeper's stained glass window and sealing access to the room until Zipp or her mother find it years later 5. For the unicorn keepers. Their knowledge would still be past down but some do so begrudgingly. With this, vital information is lost. Their HQ is turned into a tea room (you see the unicorn crystal as part of the sign), and the only knowledge successfully passed down is that their was a need to gather crystals. Their was no specification on the type of crystals and so we get our crystal collector pomy from the movie 6. Only the earth pony keepers remained true to their task. However, Argyle passed away unexpectedly before he can share the whole knowledge of the crystals. 7. In the end I think Twilight believed that it would be an earthpony to restore magic. Hence the designed crystal slots at the top of the lighthouse I have many more ideas if you want more please let me know

I'd love for the G5 series to at least address what happened in Equestria's past to cause such a huge divide between all the ponies. Something pretty substantial must've taken place to lead every creature to isolate themselves from each other. And if Sunny's dad was the most legitimate historian regarding Equestria's past (since he seemed to be the only one who really knew everypony used to live in harmony), it'd only make sense for her to chase it up. Plus, we don't know what happened to the non-pony creatures like changelings, dragons, griffons, etc. Getting to see Sunny's quest to discover those creatures and bring them back into the Equestrian fold would be pretty interesting.

I used to find it odd how Sunny's dad has so much information and access to the ancient world of G4, and yet completely absent when it comes to far recent events about why the races got separated, which is the more important and easier information to be searching for 🤔 Maybe he was just so allured by the society and lifestyle of the G4 days that I bet the most reasonable way he's like this is because he got the same treatment as to how he later did for Sunny. These stories and accounts must have been passed down as far more important information to preserve, and it just so happens that Sunny's dad is a good historian and crafter of toys and things to let these memories become so vivid and alive. I find it odd that the missing third stained-glass window may have been built in between the other two in that abandoned station, cause looking closely at those architectural elements really looks like it was meant to be an entryway instead of a blockage. Not to mention if that center was a window, and was stained-glass in the first place, it's eventual deterioriation is wiped way too clean by comparison! It makes it look like it was deliberately destroyed to leave no single trace 🤔 If it wasn't a window, but a doorway, I wonder where the other stained glass window might have been built, and why is it even built separately? 🤔

My current theory is that the magic of Equestria wasn't so much lost, as it was suppressed somehow, with the crystals acting as a key to releasing that suppressed magic. But how and why magic was suppressed, remains the real question and of course what is Twilights involvement in all of this. It is clear that the story of G5 will harken back heavily to G4, as it gives us a clear picture of the struggles that led to magic being suppressed and the later fracturing of the tribes and in this as you said, Sunny becomes a central figure, as she pieces back Equestrias lost history, alongside her friends of course. And wouldn't you know, rediscovering this lost history, will be essential to fixing the present, where all this xenophobia, racism and grudges are concerned, as they don't dissappear in an instant, these grudges have apparently existed for centuries and are only now beginning to be mended. Which brings me to my next point, the wider Equestria and Equus (the planet itself). We see only 3 city-states in the movie, but we all know that Equestria is far larger than that, and it has to be rediscovered. As Sunny and her friends begin to unravel the mysteries of the past, they will inevitably have to revisit old sites, that have to be reunited, to recover that which was lost so many moons ago.

could you do a character analysis for each of the mane 5? I feel like there is more to izzy than that bubbly attitude. she seems to be taking after pinkie pie. but something about izzy is not genuine like pinkie. with a little bit of researching and looking through scenes with izzy, I have come to the conclusion that she had possible abandonment issues, and her positivity is a coping mechanism for it. a post it on her mirror in fit right in has “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME” written on it, and she also says that she doesn’t want the adventure to end. izzy also says she never got to try her flower tea table with “actual friends” and the way she reacts when sunny says that there is no time for just hanging out gets izzy’s attention, and she doesn’t seem thrilled.

I noticed these artifacts in the background and notes on what is now known as agent Equestria ponies and was wondering how it was all going to tie in. I sure hope we will find out more about what happened to ancient Equestria and how things have become the way they are and current Equestria. I dare to say we may be in for an exciting story arc!

Well there's always more questions than answers. And yes with special coming up in March of 2022 we may start to get more answers and see how the special will provide us with information that they have after the mlp g5 movie. And with the follow up series in April 2022 it may give us even more answers. But still we don't really know if this whole alicorn power thing will only be used for temporary purposes for Sunny. But still there are many possibilities that will happen later in the follow up series. And we get the answers that were looking for or not. It will still be an interesting series. All we can do now is wait until it's out.

Since all princesses are now gone from Equestria, the thing I wonder is if their role would be completely erased too. By Celestias words you gain Alicorn wings/horn when you create new magic. I’ve been speculating what kinda ”new” magic sunny created, or perhaps when Twilight passed it allowed another pony to regain the alicorn power of magic/friendship. Another thing I find interssting is if magic now plays a different part in Equestria. Perhaps flurry heart or twilight and her friends changed something like the pillars did, and when the next generation came we got this result. Maybe the alicorn magic we have now is more related to the human world, where when you activate some sort of trigger you get alicorn magic and rainbow streaks in your hair, wings, horns etc. Just a few theories I’m hoping to get answered in the series.

The idea of Sunny and her new friends resuming her father's work and discovering and learning about the wonders of the past (events of G4, Mane 6, etc.) is actually a great idea and I'd be happy to see they go that route. Lots of potential for all sorts of stories, fun shenanigans, adventures all over the land, direct call backs, among many other things. And of course, relearning lessons that G4 taught us, but this time through the point of view of these new ponies as they discover more and more about the Equestria of old and the impact Twilight and her friends had on ponykind, resulting in Sunny and her friends learning these lessons from the history they uncover. Whatever they do, I'm just hoping it will be just as great or better than anything Friendship is Magic has given us. The movie alone was already a wonderful start!

I doubt this would happen, but what I would like to see the 1st season of MLP Gen5 is focus on 3 main things 1. The mystery and the origins of the 3 crystals. If they really do have a connection to Gen4 MLP. I think Sunny's "alicorn form" should only come out when it's completely necessary. Maybe in further seasons Sunny's horn and wings will become "real" and less corporeal when Earth Ponies, Pegasi and Unicorns are more in unity due to the actions of Sunny and her friends 2. With magic back in Equestria, I would like to see Sunny, Hitch, Pipp, Zipp and Izzy helping others and themselves adapting on using magic. Teaching unicorns how to us their magic like levitation, teleportation etc While with Pegasi they can discover they can manipulate clouds and change the weather While with Earth ponies they discover they have a bit more of connection to the earth and plants and are able to help grow crops and other produce faster and healthier and have a bit more physical strength in comparison to regular unicorn and Pegasi. And 3. I would like Sprout to have a redemption arc. I feel like his part feels a bit incomplete and would like him to play the antagonist for the 1st season. DRWolf001, you mentioned Sprout wasn't entirely sure what he was doing was the right thing. So using that knowledge I can see Sprout being the Starlight Glimmer in Gen5, maybe trying to preach for segregation again now that unicorns and Pegasi have their magic back. But really it could be Sprout is doing this so he feels important and being noticed again. Sprout could either have a small group (which are basically the Snips and Snails of Gen5) of followers or no one at all and it's up to Sunny and the rest of the new Mane 5 to help him see they are just as scared and don't know where Pony Society is going with having magic back. But it's best to face this future together than separated. (That and I noticed in merchandising Sprout is being advertising along with the Mane 5 which is odd since he was mostly the antagonist in the movie. So I'm using this as foreshadowing that Sprout maybe the 6th member In Season 2 now that they've adapted to the positive of having magic in their lives, we could see the bad. Like bringing back Paraspites, Timberwolves and Ponies using their magic for bad instead of good and we see the new Mane 6 along with all the other Ponies will handle the situation together In later seasons or just along the way we get references back to MLP Gen4 (or earlier), if Cutie-Marks will have any significance like in Gen4 Are the Elements of Harmony still around or will new Elements of Harmony will be created that better reflects the new Mane 6 Reintroduction to non-pony civilisations like dragons, griffons, changlings, yaks, hippogriffs and other species new and old What do you think?

I'd love for the show to go into what happened to the alicorn princesses. Are they truly immortal and simply ascended beyond the mortal plane? Are they truly immortal and became something that is difficult for mortals to perceive? Are they not immortal, and simply long-lived, eventually succumbing to old age? Are they nearly-immortal(immortal-adjacent?), and even though time will not touch them, they can still succumb to disease, poison or injury? You bring up a good question about Applejack. Is Ponyville still around? What about Canterlot and the Everfree Forest? Is Discord still around somewhere? Are the Evil Three still encased in stone? Maybe the upcoming series will answer a lot of the questions the movie raised.

At the end of MLP:FiM, there was relative peace between a lot of creatures, so what caused such a backwards step? And where did all the princesses go? I feel like Sunny was created by Twilight Sparkle thousands of years ago. When the Twilight’s friends passed away Twilight could not control all the chaos that was growing by an unknown cause. But somewhere in between, Twilight Sparkle used the essences of her magic and her soul into a form of light into a giant crystal. She buried the crystal of light deep below Canterlot after it fell. Thousands of years later the crystal remain undisturbed in a vault. When a curious historian pony found the vault. He unlocked and entered the ancient vault and found the crystal containing the magical light. The light of the crystal glows bright and the crystal shell melted away. The light then transformed into a baby pony. The pony historian took the baby pony with him back to Martime Bay as his own daughter and named her, Sunny Starscout. To me I think that Sunny is not just an earth pony who immediately became an alicorn by reuniting the three pony tribes in one movie. She is Twilight Sparkle herself.

I would care to visually witness a prospective moment in the Mane 5 future odysseys and an authentic story arc where they find an archaic stone chamber forged underneath the immense surface world above. Argyle must've met Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6 in retrospect, being humbly blessed with a few rare & valuable evoking objects from the previous generation of Equestria, and given it to Argyle to inevitably give to his daughter. And as for Sunny, she be truly alluded if the cosmetic look on herself, in reconfiguration, was merely a temporary, then that is no doubt consistent in the upcoming series, and it would quite possibly be so much more compelling, and I would love to see an actual prime antagonist of the series, if it can seem to hopefully pull it off. Honestly, I'd like to know more about what happened to separate the races in the first place. I'm betting that it most definitely has something to do with twilight and her friends passing on and ponies losing hope in any kind of future, if not then maybe blaming each other for twilights passing. I would also like to know what happened to ponyville, canterlot and twlights castle. Her castle didn't really have a magical aspect to it other than coming out of friendship so maybe it will be around in the series as a memorial type of thing?. Another theory going round is that sunny is from twilights blood line which makes sense to me because of the colours of her father, they kind of look like twilights dads colours . I also believe that Celestia and Luna are still alive seen as they were told to be alive as long as the sun and moon rise. It also confuses me how no pony knows about celestia and luna seen as they were basically gods who had unique power compared to other alicorns and unicorns so maybe something happened that caused everypony to forget? In the series we will most likely encouter some kind of memorial for the mane 6 and maybe even the elements of harmony. Like what happened to the elements? the tree of harmony? like we get there is no magic whatsoever BUT the trees state would have lasted without magic like starswirl intended it to do. There are just so many questions that we need answered and I hope they get answered in the new series. I feel like the new series will have the new gen characters going on some kind of adventure to figure out what exactly happened to Equestria and what caused the races to seperate seen as that is THE HUGE question and no pony knows. I'd like to know where Argyle found all this primary source material for his historical research. Did he discover them in an abandoned cave? Maybe in a deserted castle? Or some dusty, unexplored corner of an old library? And was Argyle the only one who knew the Mane 6 existed, or was it common knowledge? Do ponies in the G5 era consider the Mane 6 more or less historical? Or do they see them as mythical, the way we would look at, say, King Arthur and his knights, or Robin Hood and his band? Finally, the show will probably never answer this question, but how did Argyle meet his untimely demise? Or did he go missing, perhaps on a dangerous exploration? If it's the latter, will we possibly see him again in the series?

Something that I think needs to be focused on at least a little bit is earth pony magic. In the movie they never considered the idea that there was a third object and they’re only interested in bringing the magic back to unicorns and Pegasi. Throw in the fact that the end credit scene shows a moment where the earth pony colt is leaving behind glowing hoof prints. And I really hope they go that route maybe even highlights something that earths ponies can do with their magic that was never mentioned in G4.

Sunny's power up may be only temporary, but it could also be hinting at her future. Remember when the Mane 6, aka Guardians of Harmony as Sunny's generation refers to them now, first got the Elements of Harmony? Most of the Elements were embedded in golden necklaces, but Twilight's Element of Magic took the form of a crown, not only indicating her importance as the leader but also her future destiny to become an alicorn princess. I don't think Sunny's learned or experienced eneough yet to receive a permanent upgrade to alicorn form past the film, but it could be a sign to the audience that she's on that path to becoming one, especially since Equestria has apparently been bereft of a national leader and protector for generations.

Sunny certainly got her Alicorn transformation quicker than Twilight. I get the impression perhaps Sunny can transform into an alicorn at any given time, not unlike Sailor Moon's transformation. Could Aryglle be an alchemist who can develop magic concoctions? It's possible that he isn't as dead as implied, but perhaps doing research abroad just like Scootaloo's parents. Sunny has a long way to go before friendship is rebuilt among not only the ponies, but the other creatures, wherever they may be.

If Sunny does continue on her father's path then perhaps a good place to start would be his latest notes and research from before his passing, sharing it with everyone to compare notes. Plus there's how the light house was seemingly designed to incorporate the three crystals(before it got wrecked) leads me to think that they weren't just mean't to help bring back magic but to use both the light house and crystals in tandem to cast a magical signal across the sea to other lands.

I'm wondering about more down-to-Earth, immediate concerns of the story: - Where will Sunny live? Will they rebuild the lighthouse? If so, they might find a hidden stash of Argyle's artifacts or research among the debris. - Where will the new Mane 5 live? It will be hard writing stories around their exploits if they live miles and miles away from each other. OTOH, Pip and Zipp have their own responsibilities as Pegasus royalty. On that note, after the initial euphoria, will they have to face consequences for their family's possibly generation-spanning deception? And we didn't even get more than a glimpse of Izzy's role in Unicorn society. With all the collages and sculptures in her house, she seems to be some kind of artist/craftspony, but what is a "normal" day like for her? - On that note: what's a normal day for Sunny? We know she does odd jobs delivering beverages and treats, but she doesn't make them. Is that a permanent employment, or just her excuse for getting into the presentation? - How will the ponies of this new Equestria react to the change in status quo? One doubts generations of indoctrinated paranoia will just poof away - especially for Earth Ponies, who haven't gained/regained anything from the ending. - Or did they? That'd be another nice plot hook: exploring the magic unique to Earth Ponies.

I’d say that season one will really be all about sunny really delving into the past about the original mane six and figuring out all the things left behind by her father as you said but I also think this season will be the season where sunny and the other members of group will start teaching the land about the ways of the old equestria as even though they may have brought magic back and brought a few ponies together I say there will still be a good few earth ponies, Pegasi and unicorns that will be reluctant to really get along with the other tribes. You can’t just erase ears of paranoia and mistrust with a few gems and some magic this is something that will have to take time.

Now that I think about it, the population of each race seem pretty small. There used to be a large number of cities where ponies live, but now, we only see 3 in the movie. Makes me want to support the theory that there are still ponies who do believe in friendship.

Something i see in the first scenes with the father, is he actually have a heavy RD influence in his colors and cutie mark, if you see his hair closely, he actually has a Rainbow in the "corona" of his head, but since he is old the colors look some washed, but still there.

Sad that we didn't get much in terms of lore concerning what's happened to Equestria, the mane 6 and the alicorn princesses. Understandable since we had a whole new cast of characters and only 90 minutes for the entire plot to happen. Definitely holding the Sunny's genuine question of "Why can't we be friends anymore?" and Argyle's reply of "Maybe someday we'll figure it out." in my memory for the series.

Hmmm...your theory would actually address my concerns about there not being enough of a hook for a long term series as I would definitely love the show you outlined. On the other hand, I already feel as though the film leaned too heavily into G4 throwbacks as it is for all intents and purposes its own thing, and such a series would just further cement it as something that can't exist without G4. Still, that concept is better than any ideas I was able to come up with (I had two, but don't love either).

I have had a few questions that have been on my mind lately involves the villains from the MLP Gen 4 show. If I remember correctly discord and nightmare moon both faced imprisonment for at least 1000 years. I also remember that after Luna, Celestia, and discord used magic to imprison Tirek, Cozy Glow, and Chrysalis to stone. If magic had disappeared and the princesses are gone should they not have been able to escape like discord did in season 2. My only thought that could contradict my theory is if discord was still alive, but if all magic disappeared would that not mean discord as well. What about the portals to the EG world are they still around and how are they affected by equestria losing its magic. What about the crystal empire is it still around or has it also disappeared. What about the other realms like Griffinstone, Mt. Aris, Yakyakistan, and changelings. There are so many questions still left to be asked and a lot of unanswered questions. Why don't you DRWolf001 give me your thoughts on some of these questions or better idea make a video on one of these topics. I would love to hear your thoughts about any of theme. P.S. When it comes to Sunny being an alicorn I hope it is permanent I like the thought of her potentially becoming the next ruler of equestria.

Hoping for permanent but if it's permanent , it should have matched her body colour like Twilight's wings does. For sunny maybe yellow or pink . And she looks like a little mixup of flash and twilight , body colour is like flash and hair is like Twilight's. ( Just a imagination) Also there are some chances that Queen haven might be flurry heart's daughter (same kind of mane , colour) and pipp represents a lot of like cadence .

I may just be wanting to avoid getting my hopes up, but I get the feeling that little background easter eggs like we got in the movie are all what we'll get in the follow-up animated series. I believe they'll touch on where these crystal came from and how they got separated, but I have my doubts regarding things specific to FiM, such as the Windigoes, Flurry Heart, Discord, etc.

It so fascinating about Sunny being the first earth pony Alicorn my hope the series be a mixture of world building rediscovering much of the element of Harmony lost to ponies different artifact or territory in Equestria and answering question about what happen to say places like Ponyville and Crystal Empire reconnecting Equestria past to it future while uniting ponies again.

What if sunny’s alicorn form is incomplete since there are no alicorns to transform her into one and she wasn’t taken to the “twilight zone”

Yeah I noticed when the transformation happened that the wings and horn looked ethereal. Not permanent. Assuming that is the case I appreciate her not just being turned into an Alicorn quite that fast. I don't necessarily mind if she does become one but yeah, not yet.

I wonder where Twilight went? The other members of the mane 6 are definitely long gone by the time G5 takes place, but remember that Celestia and Luna had been around for over 1000 years, and I don’t think it’s been that long since G4 for her to die of old age. I think it’s either Twilight is alive and is trapped/in hiding, or she was killed by something, or someone. Maybe Twilight suddenly disappeared one day and Equestria fell apart without their ruler and someone to show them the importance of friendship anymore.

Have you seen the mid-credits scene? It showed an Earth Pony, a Unicorn, and a Pegasus foal racing across a field. While on the ground, it was revealed the earth pony foal have left a trail of glowing heart-shaped hoof prints.

A comment in the movie hinted that there may be more magical gems out there. I think sunny's chang is temporary and might even hint to changes for the others as well. We only glimpsed three places. So there's no telling how much magic is laying in wait.

Even the possibility of the Crystal Empire... Wait? Could Twilight had the idea of the Crystals because of the Crystal Heart? Not entirely.

@@christinewhoyt remember that even in gen 4. Magic items and gems have been around for over 1000 moons. Even before equestria was founded. Other than Twilight. I can think of at least three unicorns that would have the same idea.

I’ve noticed that this new generation of my little pony took some inspiration from the 1992 series of My Little Pony Tales where ponies atmosphere is fitted in a more modern society with technology. There’s even an episode called BonBon’s Dairy that reminds me of Sunny Scouts journal. Could all be coincidental but just vague moments like this could easily be inspiration for this new generation. I wonder how the lore of this new one will be? Like if in the past the princesses fought off a great evil that required Twilight to relinquish her powers or if she mysteriously vanished but made sure to leave something to future generations. Multiple things to look forward to but I do believe Sunny will pick up on her father’s research and unfold ancient mysteries of equestrians past with us watching closely!
