Zipp has a "Big Sister" vibe in all her interactions--not just the ones with Pipp. She seems to be more level-headed than any other character, and I'm including Sunny in that statement; Sunny is optimistic, but doesn't think things through. Zipp, on the other hand, recognizes problems and addresses them with more thought. She's also got the snarky 'Huh, that's a thing' reaction to basically any development. I can see her being the one to corral all the others when they start stressing out, and encourage them when they falter. Ironic that the pegasus who wants to fly is the most grounded character of all.

The sisters clearly have very different personalities. Zipp is the crown princess, and her focus is always on improving the quality of life for her subjects and being honest with them rather than building a cult of personality. It isn't that she shirks her role as future queen; it is that she has a very different view of how to use that role and what it means than her mother. Pipp, by contrast, sees the royal's duties more like her mother, focusing more on boosting pegasi morale and is more likely to question being fully honest with their subjects-especially if there doesn't seem to be anything to gain other than upsetting their subjects with hard truths. From Pipps view, the deception about the royal family flying was worthwhile because it raised the spirits if the ponies in their city, and nopony lost anything for believing in the lie. Pipp and her mother would likely question Zipp before the movie about what would telling the ponies the truth gain anyone? The subjects lose morale and feel even less safe and no one can fly still. Despite being the intellectual of the family, Zipp is also the biggest idealist, while her mother and Pipp are the pragnatists.

I would love to get a few episodes focusing on Haven and Zipp. Zipp clearly disagrees sharply with Haven about how to rule. They could eventually reconcile their opposing views. Haven becomes a more honest and straightforward ruler, while Zipp figures out that Haven has legitimate reasons for doing some of the things she does.

I also want to see the sisters having their relationship grow in the series and have them come back to this conflict and truly resolve it... I do love having her help with Argyle's research.

Maybe there will be silent disagreements between them throughout season 1 that blow up in the season finale. It would give a reasonable character reason for their argument not lasting that long in the movie while improving what cohesion the first season will have.

Zipp has been on my mind, lately. Especially how she left her sister hanging- literally. Everyone keeps calling her a Rainbow Dash 2.0. Given her athleticism and colors, I can see this, but as Rainbow herself said and demonstrated in the first two parter, she'd never leave a friend hanging. Zipp did just that, to her sister no less. As for what comes next, i can see her using likely ancient and incomplete aerodynamic knowledge to help restore pegasi to their old glory, often failing and adapting, as any aspiring scientist should.

I have also noticed that the G4 ponies people compare to the G5 ponies don’t quite match up. Or, at least, there are better matches for them. Zipp is thoughtful and has integrity which seems closer to Applejack or Twilight. Izzy dislikes confrontation and gets worried sometimes, that’s more similar to Fluttershy. Hitch is a bit arrogant and likes to help ponies, that’s like Rainbow Dash. Pipp is cheerful and spreads positivity which is similar to Pinkie Pie. Sunny… I’m not sure about her. She’s a bit of all of them, I guess, lol.

@@Yorancy Well, Sunny hasn't faced a real villain yet. Sprout was just a "frightened steed", and so was everyone else who antagonized her. Once she comes across someone who is truly evil and powerful, then she will understand that things aren't as simple as she thinks. In fact, I think a thousand-year-old, jaded and depressed Twilight Sparkle would make for an interesting villain in G5, considering she is someone Sunny looks up to, although I doubt that is going to happen.

At some point near the end of the movie I heard the guards say: "HEY THATS OUR QUEEN YOUR TALKING ABOUT!" Even tho the royal family betrayed the pegisi they followed them like helpless sheep for probably centuries and I'm sure they will fall back to following behind the royal family. I think the queen will try to force Zipp to be queen even tho she doesn't want to be. When she tries to figure out what kind of ruler she will be I think she will also try to get the pegasi to fend for themselves a little more instead of following others like blind sheep.

Honestly, the reaction to learning that the Royals could not fly practically makes the case for them. Queen Haven and her daughters didn't start the comforting lie that the pegusi still had at least some control of the skies. They only had the choice of continuing it, or putting their little kingdom into chaos. It's not even clear how much real power the royal family has -- the fact that they were so readily subject to arrest (along, presumably, with other high officials and technicians who had to be in on the secret) indicts that they were never considered to be above the law. The response of the guards is quite natural; when outsiders appear to threaten a member of one's family/tribe/group, that tends to take at least temporary priority over in-group squabbles.

@@danhenry9108 that is true, tho their prisons are pretty comfy and we never actoully saw the queen in jail and if she was, she was able to escape quickly, which means the city was most likely thrown into chaos causing the guards to try to calm everyone down safely, with no leader. Then there's always the fact when we grow up idolizing someone, we tend to forgive and forget within a week. Even tho what they did was pretty big I think the pegisi would let them lead again just to get rid of the chaos and get back to normal now I'm not saying it will be normal or there won't be some mistrust and skepticism, there will, which Zipp might use to her advantage trying to get the pegasi to be more independent .

I think with the movie out we're past the simple analogies of "Zipp is the new Rainbow Dash". And it's more than just Zipp being, as Dash would say, "an egghead". Zipp is much calmer and lacks Dash's compulsive competitiveness. Where RD would have felt a need for bluster, Zipp greets a unicorn and an Earth pony, presumed at-least-nominally-hostiles who outnumber her, one of whom she believes to have magical powers, with a self-possessed curiosity and excitement. What she does have in common with Rainbow Dash, other than a love of flight, seems to be a proactive nature. Zipp has found a way to mimic flying beyond the tricks with wires, through her fan and through her leaping about on the mountains. She has done her own research in the past. She immediately starts scheming with prisoners as soon as she sees a chance to pursue her goal of recovering flight. We also see her making an effort to reach out to Hitch and bring him into the group in the campfire scene. She's not quite as impulsive as "I'll stop Winter!" Dash, but she is also a pony of action.

I might be remembering wrong, but I think Pip's main problem with Zipp was the fact that Zipp left her hanging (literally) rather than helping her down/get away from the pegasi mob. But my guess as to her future role is basically either taking the throne after her mother or getting rid of the hierarchy all together. On one hand, I suspect the obvious sense is to get rid of it as it probably doesn't serve a purpose besides having superficial fame and status. But on the other hand, if Zipp, one of the ponies who helped bring magic back to Equestria, were to take charge, she can help improve/guide the pegasi's way of life with the help of Pip's songs. Heck, with the other pegasi's help, Zipp could find more secrets and clues as to what happened to magic in the first place and what other secrets are hiding right under their feet (seeing as Zepher hights might just be either below or near Wonderbolts Academy. Was gonna say Canterlot but I remembered someone compared the map in the movie to the map in the show and canterlot wasn't near it...I think) But if push comes to shove and nothing comes out of it, Zipp might just become the stunt flying instructor for pegasi.

Come to think of it, we don't know who led the pegasi in G4. We only ever hear about military figures (Commander Hurricane, General Firefly, Commander Easyglider), so maybe they were the ones in charge. If Queen Haven's claim to the throne is based on the fact that she could fly, maybe her rule will not be reestablished and the pegasi will go back to their traditional military government. That would explain why she was arrested immediately when her secret got out. Though maybe with the pony tribes reunified, they will keep the royal family as glorified ambassadors, like they do in Japan today. Of course, that's a lot of maybes, as there is not much politics in the MLP canon (it is a kids show after all).

I like to think that Zipp will try to re-make the wonder-bolts by assembling a group of Pegasus to become the new defenders of pony’s everywhere, but the pegasus she hires are not exactly the best when it comes to flying. And Zipp starts being more than a little harsh on them, But when Zipp and the new wonder bolts are stuck in a natural disaster, and after Pipp and Hitch tell Zip she needs to embrace what they can do instead of what they can’t. Zipp with the help of her friends encourage the new wonder bolts to endorse and win I think that would be really nice :D

Well I have noticed that in many of the new Fanfictions based on G5 already out, and yes there are a lot, a good number go the route of haveing Zipp wanting to restore the Wonderblots, or rather rebuild them from the ground up. She would need to have both courage and intelligence to rebuild everything lost, as well she could also seek to help Pegasi rediscover thier mastery of weather. And with Zipp more focused on that it would lead to clashes with Queen Haven, who could want Zipp to focus on rebuilding the family reputation instead. It could even influnce Pipp's future. With Pipp seeking to rebuilt her own and well as her family's reputation, we could see Pipp showing that the role of Princess suits he much better. It could even lead to Pipp restoring the Family's status and Zipp decided to give up her rights to the throne in favor of Pipp. Allowing them to focus on the tings they are better at rather than this expected obligations.

Zipp could play a key role in figuring out exactly how things went wrong in Equestria. Would be an awesome way to show her egghead side. I actually found Zipp to have more character compared to her sister, which is why I tend to favor her much more, haha~ Compared to Pipp, we really got to see multiple sides of her personality, more chemistry between her and the others of the Mane 5 due to her screen time, etc. I can't really say that of Pipp aside from her tagging along and maybe two or three genuine comments with her properly with the others. Right now it feels like Zipp has the most chemistry/bonds, but I do agree that Zipp has potential to go around for the series! The thought of some friction between the sisters isn't one I thought of, but it sure is intriguing.

I think the most important idea zipp showed was her interest in the truth. I also like that her dislike for living a lie and her seeking truth is another spin variant on honesty without copying old character tropes from g4. She was deeply concerned with sunny's journal and what it could mean and wanted to know WHY the 3 pony races all lost their magic. Why the station was abandoned. She may be a good follower of argyle's research. I like your last point about the weather though! For who knows how long the weather has done whatever it wanted without pegasi controlling it.

I'd love to see some potential story and character arcs for Zipp about unveiling some retrospective artifacts from the remote part of Equestria and if the vast majority of the pegasi can't forgive and forget (despite how alliterative it actually sounds), they more than likely, I'd love to empirically witness upon some literal character redemption between Zipp's eternal dignity and the mere sake of her kin and her vast kingdom. And I'd want to have Zipp inevitably become the new queen, in prospect and still he her own vaillant and phenomenally intelligent self with maintaining her immense flair and inspiring motivations.

Zipp is my favourite character in the movie. I feel like I'd be friends with her more than the others, and her design is by far my favourite. Much better colours than the rest imo. I hope she gets good stories in the show. I'd love to see Sunny and Zipp going through Argyle's research together since Zipp seems to be the most intellectual, while Sunny knows the most about all that stuff since her dad always told her stories. I can also see Zipp and Sunny having flying races and such, since Pipp doesn't seem like the type to care about tricks or speed in her flying (and with those fluffy wings I doubt she'd even be capable of high speeds)

Given Zipps athleticism and her curiosity, I imagine one day she'll fly along and actually crash into a cloud, thus rediscovering the pegasus ability to move the clouds and eventually control the weather, which in turn would empower some pegasi to become antagonists by making typhoons and mega storms. I know the elements of harmony can't have a one-to-one because we have 5 instead of 6 but Zip is definitely Applejack's successor. She understands that the lie doesn't help her family or the subjects. Also I think of how sad it would to see the ruins of cloud cities. Pegasai have greek/roman architecture so you literally would have the ruins of the Coliseum. Unless the Griffins and hippogriffs have taken them over. I don't think they can cloud walk but if they can good for the Griffons. They were the most impoverished community with an actual orphan problem.

I would have liked to see more of a character arch for Zipp too. And especially Pipp! I feel Pipp had the least amount of character, and that Sunny, Izzy and Hitch got more of the attention fore say. I hope to see more in the follow up series and stuff this spring and Fall 2022.

I always thought Pip was the least defining. She was motivated by the love of her fans and playing along with her family’s lie to make every pony happy. She only join the main group because of an accident which gave her no choice. In the first part of her journey, she was very resentful. But she got into the cause by simply having her new friends grow on her. She didn’t do much, but she did do her part.

Zipp's issues with both Pipp and Queen Haven will likely be at the forefront of her character arc in the G5 series, though the goal of salvaging her family's image will likely boil down to both Zipp AND Pipp working together to reintroduce the Pegasai race to aerial sports, aerial combat/defense, weather/cloud manipulation, and the production of magical rainbows (which are somehow different than naturally produced ones). Zipp's first goal will likely be finding a way to make amends with Pipp, and helping her to rebuild the online image and singing career that she lost. Once Zipp and Pipp have resolved their issues, Zipp will need to work with Pipp to encourage the rest of the Pegasai to start re-learning about weather/cloud manipulation, aerial skills, etc. (while safely introducing technology into the mix). Depending on how Queen Haven develops as a character in the early seasons of G5, Zipp will likely never fully reconcile with her due to everything that has transpired, which would then lead to some mental and emotional hurdles in the later seasons of G5.

I think that the pegasi should go against the fact of royals as their rulers, unless it’s an alicorn princess, like G4, and Queen Haven should demote her royal status to become MAYOR Haven of Zephyr Heights, since they ruled for so long and the pegasai might be used the way things are run, but they might wish to return to alicorn princess rulers if they’re told their pony history. This could cause issues for Pipp wanting to remain a princess, or Zipp the confidence to become anything but the next queen, but give them freedom to pretty much go in any direction of character development now.

What you said about Zipp is interesting, doc. I would like to see that stuff happen with Zipp. What I would also like to see from her is, maybe because she may be queen in the future, we might see some episodes focused on that. Kind of like what they did with Twilight in the final season of "Friendship is Magic". And maybe like that final episode, we might see it happen to Zipp as well. We can see her doing royal duties, being in charge, or any kind of practice for when that day does come for her. I would like to see her more athletic abilities, and see her do some stuff with science, as the has an interest in them. I would also like to see some sibling moments with her, Pipp, and Queen Haven, mostly with her and Pipp. They both remind me of Celestia and Luna in a way. There is a lot of potential for them in the future, and that is what makes them so interesting and exciting characters. I think everything with them and the Pegasus ponies are okay, because they brought magic, and flying back to Equestria, despite what happened in the film. There is so much to look forward to, and I can not wait!

I wonder if Zipp will give up her crown to Pipp some day in the future. She might want to pursue her sport/science interests instead of becoming Queen. Or, since she does seem to be intellectual and more mature than Pipp, maybe that won't happen, but she might have Pipp rule alongside her? I can see it going either way. Although, I don't really want her to revive the Wonderbolts or something similar... Having another tomboyish sporty pony doing Wonderbolts again would be too boring and repetitive. I want Zipp to do her own thing, instead of just being an RD reboot.

You bring up an interesting point; in Gen 4, weather only happened in the Everfree Forest, the Far North, or because a Pegasus caused it to happen. I suspect other flying species could also shape local weather, but this raises the question of how weather was happening at all in an Equestria without magic. Was the Weather always able to act on it's own, but was kept from doing so by Pegasus Magic? Or did whatever caused the magic to fade also free up the weather?

I think zipp will help sunny go through her father's notes and in doing so she might come across something that has to do with the wonder bolts and cloudsdale and finding these things she might want to go look for cloudsdale there now here's my question since the Pegasus lost the ability to fly however many years ago what happened to all the Pegasus that were in cloudsdale I mean since they lost their magic they just falls into the clouds into the Earth I hate to be dark but we all remember that episode when cozy glow siphoned the magic pegasi could not fly and that's the magic was gone what would happen to them so that's why I say maybe she found notes about cloudsdale and turn the team decides to go and check it out and they found out what happened the cloudsdale and the wonder bolts I know that would be a dark episode but that's reality I would like to know what you think Dr Wolf

Zipp was definitely more subtle in terms of her personality, which is why I found myself most intrigued by her than the other mane ponies. I’m still interested in them for sure but something about Zipp just makes me wanna see more of her. Can’t fully explain it

Maybe Zip will be instrumental with either bringing back or setting-up the idea of having a military team like The Wonder Bolts. She might even join the team instead of becoming Queen. As for her sister and their mother, I think that they could take some lessons in honesty and in being humble. I also think that Pip could benefit with some lessons about being a lot less self-absorbed and more involved with her peers as well as being more generous.

I think it’s more we saw Pipp less and she had less growth/development in the film, but we already know her whole kind of deal. She’s a princes, singer, and social media influencer, while we don’t know as much about Zipps role. She likes math/science, is a bit rebellious, and she’s athletic. I think those are more of her traits, and not her role. I could be wrong, maybe I missed something about Zipp, but hopefully we see more of birth in the series and specials!

I feel like Zipp will prove herself to be the proper ruler of the Pegasi, not because "she can fly and is the heir", but because she'd likely be the one working to mend bridges with the other pegasi over the fact that she hated lying to them in the first place. Again, I actually think Zipp's element is truth, Pipp's is altruism, and Hitch's is goodness (though you did pretty good justifying courage); Zipp only got into science to figure out how pegasi could remain airborne without strings, though - yes - Zipp could be crucial to analyzing Argyle's research and thus become more interested in science. 2. I don't think Zipp's actually interested in her family remaining royals; in any case - and call me a G4 simp - if anyone's good for royalty, it would be alicorns, seeing as they represented the unity between the races.
