What’s Next for the Houston Rockets?

After a busy offseason that included the additions of a former All-Star and the fourth overall pick in the draft, what’s next for the Houston Rockets?

Imo i think running the offense through sengun would be best for the rockets similar to how the kings run their offense through sabonis have sengun constantly running dribble handoffs which which will allow guys in particular like jalen green and jabari smith jr to get dowhill and get into midrange pull ups way eaiser. And have sengun get the ball in the post and constantly have guys cutting to the rim this would benefit everyone but in particular jalen green, amen thompson, cam whitmore would excel at.

The core is nice but the issue that would cause me concern is the decision making of the roster as a whole, segun and amen can definitely help that but they will need to work on discipline. Got a bright future though

I’m so tired of this idea of you have to have one number one option. On most great teams you hopefully have more than one guy you can count on to create some offense. Obviously there’s some great teams built around one transcendent player like Olajuwon or Jordan. But look at those famous spurs teams for example. At one point they had Parker, Ginobli, Duncan, and Leonard. Unless you have a Jordan or Hakeem, you need multiple guys who can give you options. And that makes for better ball. You may have one guy that you run thru in certain times of the game and someone else at the end of the game. Or you may close with the best matchups or whoever has had the hot hand. This team has potentially several people who can create for themselves and others. Green, KPJ, Sengun have all showed some ability with this. But also Tari has a really high ceiling. He could be like a Leonard. And Jabari really looked amazing off the dribble in summer league. You don’t have to have one guy that is the guy, but you do need at least one guy that can be the guy when needed. However you can have more than one guy with the ability to step up and be the guy when called on.

Having a first option doesn't mean having one guy carry the team, but we've seen that u need a strong first option to win 90% of the time

What I’m saying is I have a problem with that mentality. Yes you need at least one guy you can go to to score. But if you have 3 guys that all can create and all can be leaned on. Then you don’t have one guy that is first option in every situation. Then you got 3 guys that allow you to play the best matchup or got to whoever is hot. Obviously if you got Kobe, Jordan, Hakeem. Like a single transcendent player then you have a first option. But the Spurs, the pistons last championship team, and even the warriors played a team ball that is way more fun to watch and more effective, than the star ball that we see on most nba teams these days. Right now Sengun is probably our best offensive weapon, but not great on defense. The team has invested heavily in Jalen as they wanted him to develop into the guy. Then you you see Jabari’s development, and you see potential in the Twin. Then there is Tari, Cam, and KPJ. The reality is if all these guys reach their top potential the team can not keep them all. However, let’s say they can keep 3 over time. And all 3 become borderline all star plus. You’re better off with this that having the same first option in all situations unless the guy is Jordan, Hakeem, Kobe.

And that comment 90% reference you made that number up and it’s speculation and incorrect. Generally speaking to win a championship you have to either have one of the top 3 players in the league as your “number one option” or you have to have a team that dominates in team ball. There’s 2 ways to go. The single guy is so desired because if you make a star you sell more product. But the team ball is actually more fun to watch. If you look at Lebron (who most consider the best player of his generation) he had to go join a team with at least 1-2 stars on it in order to win. Because he’s not mentally like a Kobe. But even your number one opinion does not get a 100% usage rate.

But if you going to play Sengun, right now he is the number one option. By next all star game we have no idea how this team will look.

@@gregfoster6916 since the modern era I don't think there has been a team other than the Pistons that won a chip without a top ten player, I can't think of one unless u count the Celtics?

Fvv was a 2 year team option not 3 years full guaranteed. Not sure why everyone just doesn’t ever get that right
