As it's April and Sony will likely be announcing the new Xperia 1 V and 5 V, I wanted to open a dialogue about what I want and to hear what other people are thinking as well. Leave a comment with your thoughts?

I want Xperia to bring back the 1080P 960 fps mode in better quality and at least a 2-3 second burst recording compared to 0.25 seconds when shooting at 960 fps.

@@ShibiChan They really should! The only things that were hampering that 960 fps mode in past models was the ridiculously short recording time, compression/quality and no end trigger recording. If they can fix those things, that would be great!

Sony adressed the HDR issues on the Pro i aswell with updates. Also battery life is fine though admittively lower than on the 1 IV. I really like to still shooting my videos with the Pro i because of its unique good camera like look. I am looking forward for a Pro i Mark 2 aswell. Fully agree to better/more processed auto mode optionally.

I got my sony xperia 5 IV last monday and im very happy with the performance and camera. I may not own a mark5 when release but these are some few things i want sony to do on mark5, for them to really step up. 1. The heat issue, they need to atleast let people notice on mark5 that heat issue will not be the 1st thing users will doubt to buy it. 2. Therr should be a shuttrr button on photo pro app (like a small circle on the app or a square shaped shuttet button). This can be an option to disable/enable. 3. The ability to add water mark on inages taken on the photo pro like a settings on the app to enable the logo of xperia (Taken with xperia or shot on xperia) 4. An option to rearrange the back button, home button, and recent button. I like to re arrange the back button to be the 3rd option so its easier to navigate. 5. Fix the stabilize option for the video recording. Stabilize level like iphone. For me the stabilizer on sony is not that good. 6. An AI assistant or effects for camera basic mode so other users who dont want to learn manual can get an iphone level of images.

Congrats on the new 5IV! I agree with basically everything here. Especially number 2. It would make things like long exposure stacking soooo much easier for things like star trails. Thanks for watching and supporting!

Bring over the main sensor from pro-i Keep the variable aperture and enhance it to cover a wider range. The Telephoto lens should cover 70-200 mm( keeping my fingers crossed. Include some sort of film profiles( like fuji). Better thermals. Price!! And for Pete's sake (re)enter more markets.

Camera wise they should definitely put super auto mode and do processing that of Pixel or something and standard auto for basic point and shoot for both front and back cameras. Auto focus front camers and maybe the telephoto and ultrawide can use the same sensor as the 1 IV since they going 48MP on the flagship. Although I'd actually prefer a 64MP binned 16MP sensor then a 12MP binned. But yeah 1 inch should be a thing but we'll see how in 1 V. They should add better cooling, bigger and louder speakers and definitely more brighter screen. And definitely cellular connectivity since I've heard lots of complaints about connectivity with Xperia. I think Xperia are great devices. Just some things can be improve upon.
@ShibiChan
@ShibiChan Жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree! I think a native 20-24MP one inch sensor would be a good balance of resolution and AF performance. Looking forward to seeing what happens soon!

I would like something bringing their Digital Audio Player out like a little more power coming from the headphone jack. So you could power some good power hungry headphones. My solution is using a BT/USB C DAC/AMP which is nice to have BT with a good wired IEM, (using a Q5k) Although that would undermine what they have with the "Walkman" and you don't mess with the "Walkman". I never even thought about the game enhancer power through. UGH That would be so cool if it came with a Software update.
@ShibiChan
@ShibiChan Жыл бұрын
Yeah improvements to the headphone jack would be great as well! Right now I use iFi and Fiio for my harder to drive headphones but I have some Meze's that are great with just the headphone jack. It seems like it shouldn't be that difficult to add the HS power control thing in an update... I put in a request 2 years ago for it and nothing lol. Seems like such an obvious thing to add

I would like Sony to increase their Android update commitment to, at least, three years of full updates and four years of security updates. I'd even settle for three years of updates across the board. At this stage in the game, and for the price Sony is asking for these phones, a two year update commitment is under par.

Man I really would love to see an updated Xperia Pro I-ii using the full 20mp sensor with no pixel binning and retaining 4k120 on all lenses. That would be wild! I'm really hoping the silence from Sony means that we'll get a significantly reduced announcement to availability time that there been notorious for. But in the meantime we got the Vivo, Oppo and Xiaomi killing it right now and I have my sights set on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra launch in Tuesday.
@ShibiChan

That is the dream Xperia! Also agree about their timing needing to be better. It's such a letdown having to wait so long after an announcement. I'd wish to see 1 V incorporate the 1 inch sensor from Pro-I but uncropped, or the IMX989 , and to extend the focal range on the zoom lens (there was an article on sumahodigest saying it may happen) and to add variable zoom on the main sensor too with range of 24-60mm for wide and portrait (that is if they can get the variable zoom lens to be of same imaging quality as their fixed lens). I'd say this would make the phone much more versatile for photography. I also have a wild dream for one of the future Pro-I model - to incorporate an APS-C or larger size sensor, covered by a metalense (metalenses are a possible solution to reducing the space needed for lenses as smartphone sensors get bigger), or just leave it exposed in center of a camera bump-ring that can mount proper camera lenses (something like Xiaomi 12S concept demonstrated).

@@joelconolly5574 I'd honestly counter you on it. If I could have a thicker Xperia-esque design while being able to mount Sony E-mount lenses, I wouldn't really feel the need to take out my camera except for more dedicated shooting. Having something like a one inch or even heck aspc sensor and then one standard smartphone camera for when you don't have lenses attached. I think it'd be super dope. All but dreams though

With the news/rumours about the Mark V ditching the 3D ToF sensor in exchange for speed, but I'm worried about the quality of the focus, hope they do not replace the sensor with software trickery If you get the 1V (and keep the IV) I would like to see some test/comparison of the focus speed and quality Besides that I hope it has LTPO screen for extra battery life, variable aperture on at least one lens, and for the dimensions and weight to somehow stay the same~ish
@ShibiChan
@ShibiChan Жыл бұрын
Great points! If focusing speed can stay more or less as good and reliable as it is now, I'd be happy. I guess it'll be about the same as the 5 lineup, which I haven't heard too much complaining about. I definitely plan on getting the 1V but likely won't keep the 1IV. I'm not that financially comfortable at the moment haha. Definitely want some battery / screen improvements! The 1IV form factor is so premium. Such a classy design. Though I wouldn't mind if they increased thickness to include more camera options!

What nd filter adapter do you recommend buying for a Sony Xperia 1 IV? is it on amazon
@ShibiChan
@ShibiChan Жыл бұрын
I use a "Moment" smartphone filter mount that I like a lot. It fits 67mm sized filters. As for actual filters there's a really wide range to choose from. More expensive brands like Polar Pro and Nisi, and more affordable ones like K&F Concept. If you're unsure how much you want to spend, definitely go with a cheaper one first to see how you like it. Variable NDs are more versatile, but also more expensive and can have some issues if they're too cheap. Fixed NDs are cheaper and usually have less problems (like a dark X appearing sometimes). As for the filter mount I use, it's this one www.shopmoment.com/products/67mm-filter-mount/
