I had a 7 hour layover at Changi and it was definitely the best airport I've been to. There was so much to do that it made the long layover actually enjoyable and worth the wait!

Wow it seems like this airport is a destination in itself. It has so many amenities. That waterfall was spectacular, I can't believe that's in an airport. Your wife had me laughing so hard when she was talking about the bouncing net. Being suspended up that high is not a joke especially when you can see it. The jewel is in the airport but not in a terminal. The Jewel is a whole complex. I believe it is open all day but the waterfall stops overnight. I would check their website for more details

The waterfall is technically outside of the airport itself, so you have to go through immigration to reach it. I would recommend doing that first on a layover then coming back inside the airport

yes with 4 hours you can absolutely do it. Just do it as soon as you land. The immigration officers did not ask for any documentation during our layover except for our covid certificate if i remember right.

Hi guys! This might sound stupid but I have a doubt about the transit area. I read that to go to jewel you'll have to leave the transit area. And we are not allowed to leave the transit area if you're only there for the purpose of transiting. So how did you guys tour around the airport. I'm arriving on T1 and my next flight is from T3 so I was planning to do a lil touring around the airport.

I can only speak on our experiencce when we were there. You definiteily do have to leave the tranist area. However, no one asked us why we were leaving nor had an issue with us returning through security. We went through the airport and came back 2x during our time in Singapore. Singapore foods at food street is around 1.50 to 2.90USD

In real hawker centres in the country they usually start at about 3 SGD but can go up to 10 SGD or more, while at food courts they’re usually a little higher, maybe averaging at 6 or $ SGD if I had to guess. In the airport, I would expect that the food street food court would be more expensive. I haven’t been in years but wouldn’t be surprised if they were averaging 10 SGD

We are on our honey moon, our first stop is singapore but hoping to get to different regions in South east asia. I flew with singapore air and it was spacious and we were able to sleep. We actually flew in basic economy because the flights were so expensive. However, singapore air definitely has some of the best first/business in the world! If you can afford it, I would recommend it

For us, we travel very light so we just went to the lower level at The Jewel and we paid 10 Singapore dollars for them to hold our luggage for a day

The airport, especially Jewel is treated as another shopping destination for locals. Theres a pokemon centre up there with pokemon merch. Also my family would visit a really spicy mala pot stall in the staff canteen.

@@ChewsToExplore yeah cos a lot of people live in the east so if they want to hang out and such, the airport is an option because its about 4 mrt stops away on average, which is much closer than the city centre. Theres also a rumour that students hide somewhere at the airport to study.

Where to sleep?

@@ChewsToExplore I can only do transit sleep. I'm thinking of saving $300 and taking a 12hr layover in Changi and then another stop before reaching my destination. I'm thinking if its worth the sacrifice. I cannot go out of the airport

You have to exit the airport to see the jewel. So I would make sure you have enough time to get back in the airport

Actually it's only a mega shopping mall, stationing with multi-shops with numerous international brands. It lacks of Singaporean essences but decorated with an internatioanl chic motif. Not much a true tourist site for me, but I won't object its modern amenity and comforts. Beautiful ? it's o.k.
