the crab innards is so interesting also wondering how they breathe through gills with complete exoskeleton outside
@Newtype_96Ай бұрын
crabs have special adaptations to keep their gills moist and functional. They have articulating plates that can close to prevent dry air from entering and drying out the gills. Additionally, crabs can draw water over their gills using a thin appendage called the scaphognathite, which is located near their claws. This mechanism ensures that their gills remain moist and capable of extracting oxygen from the water. in the end it's a membrane that lets water in.

Their immune system is also extremely interesting, instead of having separate cells for wound repair and the phagocytosis of pathogens, they have one kind of cell that does both. So it's like a platelet and a leukocyte in one package.

I think its their tendons, in you pull on the ends of them you the pincers will open and close. Discovered this when they used to have snowcrab legs at the Mandarin buffets.

I know this from childhood.. family likes fish and i saw the discarded claw and played with it. With mom being in medical and me just being the kind of kid explore any kind of non-school required knowledge i knew it was a tendon and would control the claw if i moved it. So ya 10 or so old me knew the answer to this video before clicking. Current near 40 me is getting a blast from the past nostalgia trip from the vid. 😊

You know, i wondered how their muscles could still work to make them move after they've molted and are all floppy, figures they'd still have something solid like tendons to help them move.

If you think about it, domestic cats are closely related to african wildcats that originate from the area surrounding the sahara desert. Although some of them eat seafood, they never ate it in the wild during their evolution.
@ElysetheEeveeАй бұрын
Kitties may love seafood in general, but the heavy metals in them afflict cats far more than humans. Giving your cat seafood isnt advised, especially things like tuna. Cooked chicken (not raw), eggs, and turkey is pretty safe for cats. If you want to make homemade cat food (which I had to do for one of my cats way back when), make sure to look up what foods are good for daily consumption. Generally red meats are only rare treats and shouldn't be given to cats often. If you can't get powdered taurine supplement to mix into their food for the proper levels in addition to meats, the ground egg shells can provide a temporary source. These are just some random cat food tips I learned ages ago having to make food for a kitty that couldn't eat any store-bought foods growing up. He eventually got over his intolerance when he matured, thankfully. Watching the kitty eating seafood just reminded me, that's all, lol.
@alexander1055Ай бұрын
Cats are carnivores and will thrive on raw red meats. Raw poultry is perfectly fine too.
@marcusbullock630Ай бұрын
thats incorrect about tuna. its not the metals but the high amount of omega 3 fatty acids which causes fatty liver. never feed cats oily foods of any kind.
@kamikeserpentail377829 күн бұрын
Fish is one of the highest allergens for cats. It can also contribute towards urinary tract infections, especially in neutered male cats. I'll occasionally give mine a tiny piece of salmon if she seems interested, when I make some for myself, but not much and definitely not regularly.
