This game was great on the GameCube, but when they released it on the Wii with Wii controls, that was the perfect way to play it in my opinion.

It was way too easy as gameplay wise they didn’t modify anything, so with a quick hand swing you could headshot to oblivion. That and the fact the Game Cube weapons were a bit nerfed compared to every other release. For instance, the Broken Buttetfly does 50DMG maxed out with exclusive in every release, but GC it caps at 35.

I'm glad I was there to get RE4 at release on GameCube. Still a truly revolutionary game and awesome to play. I felt the 2023 Remake was fine, but nowhere near as ground breaking as the original. From RE4 2005 alone, we got: Dead Space, Gears of War, and Uncharted. Thanks RE4 and Shinji Mikami. Franchise has never been the same since he left. Now Capcom, bring back Dino Crisis dang it.

Played this on the Gamecube when it originally came out. Was always a little scared to play at night, but the TV glare at home was too strong during the day

You left out the HD version of RE4 which was originally released on PS3 and XBOX360 and later ported to PC, PS4, XBOX One and Switch. This one, IMPO, is the best version to play if you want to original experience but without the modern remake changes.

I finished this game for the first time 15 days ago because my pc isn't powerful enough to run the re4 remake. RE4 OG is truly a masterpiece. Can't wait to play the remake in future

While Res Evil 4 is also one of my favorite games, I do have a strange history with it. It is...my first RE game. I was so intrigued by it, and I was 'old enough' to play a mature game like it, even though REmake made me almost get a GameCube in the first place. I would also have no idea at the time that RE4 would be an influence for third-person action/shooting games. While I've come to appreciate the RE series overall over time, RE4 will still remain my fave in the series and I've completed it a number of times.

Resident Evil 4 is one of those games I hoped you would cover sometime, it really is heralded as one of the video game greats, both within the Resident Evil series and broader gaming as a whole. It's funny because part of it's appeal is how it's an outlier in terms of what the Resident Evil series typically is and is divorced from it's canon, though then again, that could be part of it's broader appeal, since most people going into it don't need to play any of the other Resident Evil games. Me, I just like the off-beat character moments with Leon and especially the Merchant. For a game that's supposed to be survival horror, it has a lot of funny moments, though thankfully there aren't too many funny moments to the point where it just becomes a farce. It's a tricky balancing act, and I think RE4 pulls it off.

When Re4 first came out I didn't hate it, I thought it was a great game but I much preferred the urban environment with zombies and umbrella that I didn't really consider it an RE game imo. After some years though I had eventually accepted it as one bc while not like the old ones visually it was still executed with the same care as its predecessors and did have Leon as the main character who has always been a favorite of mine. The game does have its own section carved in my mind alongside the others where I can say I've lost track of time playing it and the remake does that justice.

As a person who's first RE was RE4, I have to disagree, RE4R does just about everything better, the only thing I think it did worse, was keeping the aiming system from RE2R where you have to focus the reticle.

@@Suckit626 idk they just wanna hang on nostalgia I guess. The gameplay is better in every way possible, the exploration is better, the backtracking is better, the boss fights are better, treasure system are better, separate ways is way better.

I grew up playing RE4 & I know I'm in the minority, but I prefer the RE4 Remake over the original. It leans heavier into the horror aesthetic and less into the cheesy 2000s action movie aesthetic, which I much prefer. REmake 1 is one of my top 10 favorite games ever made

I also prefer the remake to the original. There were parts of the original that just didn’t mesh well when line up all the areas. They didn’t flow right. The only part from the original I like is the mine cart section.

Same here ! My favorite part is how ramped up the difficulty feels in the remake. You can no longer instant head stagger enemies and then knife cheese. Enemies no longer move like snail and you have to watch your blind sides. Aiming now requires skill and is no longer a point and click simulator. The treasure system works even better, the parrying takes skill on pro, Leon is no longer a cocky agent. Luis redemption story connects with the entire RE story. The boss fights are much more challenging.. and separate ways is actually a mode that you must complete now to complete the full story to the game. They knocked it out the park with this remake and I had zero doubts they wouldn’t come anything short of that. IMO it’s the definitive way of playing RE4

@@MR.__G dude what kind of complaint is that? First of all the laser did move, it had a sway back and forth that would mess you up if you waited too long to make a shot. On modern pc ports with a mouse this doesn't really matter but on the original gamecube version the game definitely wasn't a "point and click". But also think about what you're saying, why would they make a brand new game with a new camera system that allowed for pinpoint, fully controlled accuracy like never before in the series, and then have the bullets be randomized like it's Fortnite? The laser worked perfectly in tandem with the new direction of the series. Not only is it way more satisfying than a generic crosshair slapped on the screen that every game has but it also formed a unique identity for the game. By your logic they could've added randomization to any aspect of the game and you'd think it's an improvement. Leon has the random chance to slip and fall while running because in the original game moving around was too easy. They did that in Super smash bros and it was pretty much universally agreed to be one of the worst mechanics ever put into a game. I truly don't get how you're framing a bullet landing where you expect it to land as a bad thing, do you get upset when you lock on to an enemy in Dark Souls and your character doesn't have a random chance of swinging his sword backwards and missing?

@@Ash3n.On3 Leon was never a clown to begin with. It made no sense for him to become a one liner action star after going through what he did his 1st day at work in raccoon city. He still has some lines here and there but his personality feels more real. He has a more serious tone as he should have.

For me it's just that it's a fun game. That being said it's absolute garbage as a main Resident Evil game.
