The self titled Holy Soldier was the very first cd I ever bought and I still have it. I had most of these on cassette and later found them on cd. The X-Sinner song that reminds me the most of AC/DC is Steppin' on Toes. Great song!

+Tim Leaf Definitely an AC/DC influence on Steppin' on Toes. The self-titled Holy Soldier is still a killer. Still love it every time I play it. I love the follow-up as well. Nothing they ever did after came close to matching those first two.

I've never liked the 'Hair Metal' portmanteau. I've always felt that good Glam from the 80's was an extension (no pun intended) of 70's Glam; whether that be straight Rock or something a little, or extremely, Metal. Too many purists, IMO, glance over Glam acts of the 80's and late 70's because those bands, in their opinions, weren't 'metal' enough, or had a more Pop image at the time. It might just be an experience associated within my own sphere of influence and understanding, but I still wonder. Anyway, God bless you both for this video. It really brightened my day. Peace, Love, and Rock n' Roll \m/
@nolifetilmetal19 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with what you said about it being an extension of the 70's glam and metal bands. I don't understand being a "purist". I mean, I listen to what I like. I don't care what other people think or say and I certainly don't care if it fits neatly into some "purist" box. Haha! Glad you enjoyed the video Alexander.

Listening to Fear Not, new to them but will be looking to pickup it.. X-Sinner could be the Def Leppard clone for sure with there sound.
@nolifetilmetal19 жыл бұрын
I agree about X-Sinner, but everyone calls them an AC/DC clone. Of course the influence is there, but it's like calling Krokus an AC/DC clone. They are not clones, it's just an influence. Happy you are doing better Scott. Nice video, and nice to see your friend too. Good stuff you showed. I like that SHOUT album too. About X-SINNER, its sounds like two different vocalist on it, one AC/DC influenced and one more like DEF LEPPARD. Good record. I like the first GUARDIAN album a lot and the first recordings under the name of GARDIAN. The second is okay but not my fav. by them. Nice you saw them live a couple of times. Good album by ANGELICA, their best one. The WHITECROSS record is good too but i also prefer the debut or second album. Shame they changed so much, like so many other christian bands did like BRIDE, second KING JAMES etc...but that happend also with many other bands during some parts of the 90s. Fashion boys i would call them, they had the metal heart in a wrong place. Great videoooooooo.

Thank you René, I am feeling well. Hope to be back to my normal self within a week or two. I agree about Guardian that "First Watch" and the old Gardian demos were some of their best, but I like "Fire & Love" as well. Like I said, it's a heavier version of Bon Jovi. Also agree that the first Angelica was their best. I have to say, it really bugged me that all those bands changed their style in the 1990's when "heavy metal" was considered a dirty word. In fact, it was bands like Holy Soldier and Def Leppard who were claiming, "we were never really a heavy metal band" that inspired me to write the song "Never" on Puppet of Destruction. "What's it worth, what is the cost? Sell myself integrity lost, keeping up with the trends, changing styles in never ends, I was this but now I'm that, never me, deny my past, selling out to the crowds, circle goes around and round...SELLOUT!"
@holspa9 жыл бұрын
Scott Waters Great lirics and its exacly the way it was, they were all trying to keep with the trends. Even KISS did so, but sometimes they did it well when they follow the pop trend with DYNASTY but sometimes it went wrong with CARNIVAL... and yes, also DEF LEPPARD did so. I didnt know about HOLY SOLDIER also talking down metal later on. At least you and me, and some others stayed true to traditional hard rock and metal during the 90s, we kept the flame of metal burning and we deserve some respect for that hahaha. Anyway, get perfect soon.

I have some of the songs off of the 1998 album from the group in my favorite playlist that I've seen and/or heard within the last week on KZbin. maybe the info that is on KZbin could be wrong I don't know. by the way like what you're doing on your show. yes there is another band I came across a week or so ago with the same name and from what I've heard it is just a side project. they have a 2013 album called "Dreamworld" and it's not that bad either. don't know if they have anything else out before or after the 2013 album.

Scott Waters, I thought I had it in my favorite playlist but I've added hundreds of songs to it since in the last week so it could be further down on my list. maybe it was a typo when whoever put it up mixed the numbers up instead of 89 they put 98 on it. I did see something on Rage of Angels from the 80's with an album from 1998 though, but it could've been a mix up though.

Fear Not was Love Life. Personally i preferred the first album. it wasn't as slick or professional, but Fear Not was way over produced and had that quintessential Elephante churn out cookie cutter sound. don't get me wrong, loved a ton of Packaderm stuff, but after a few years, it all started sounding the same. if you boiled down all their stuff you would have the very generic sound summed up in that album. What i liked about the first album is that it was the closest thing that Christian metal had to Slaughter. I used tons of mix tapes as ministry tools in high school, and eveyone was into Slaughter. I think a couple of honorable mentions should be Siloam and Messiah Profit Band.....Master of the Metal is still an AMAZING album! I am sure you guys also know that Chuck King was also one of the founding members of Idle Cure, who were awesome.....until Chuck left the band!!! glad you gave him a proper that guy rocks!!!!. also P.K. Mitchel, Jeff Scheetz,, and One Bad Pig. What can I say, I was a Christian metal junkie....Saint,B.C., Bride...dudes... Snakes in the Playground gets my vote for all time at your throat straight up street level down and dirty Rock-N-Roll!!! sorry, i'll try to stop now... -777- \ii/_
@nolifetilmetal17 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are correct. Fear Not was Love Life. I liked both albums, but I really felt the song writing and vocals were better on the second album. I agree that the first had a rawer production. The Elephante's tended to make everything sound so slick. I thought they did a good job on the second Guardian album. Like you I was a Christian Metal junkie. (Well, I still am.) I have done several of these Christian metal focus videos and have mentioned some of the other bands you mentioned above.
@coolnegative7 жыл бұрын
sorry if i made it sound like i was downing the Elephates or Fear Not. I did like Fear Not, I was just really hoping for a stronger more produced Slaughter sound, and when i get in an 80s rock mood Mastedon-Jungle Out There is usually close by! You got to admit though, as time went by you could almost tell something was produced by Packaderm just by the overall sound. Even some of the stuff they did with Petra started to sound that way. When I first heard Fear Not, I was surprised how much it sounded like Guardian.....i'm just sayin' =) Thanx fort he reply brother! God Bless You and keep rockin' for THE Rock! looking forward to watching more of your videos!
