Well I have a disability so that stops me, but I can live vicariously through yours and others videos. The more people you can inspire could lead to more KZbin videos to watch for those of us unable to do what you do.

I agree with all this, just do it, don’t feel embarrassed..get out the house as often as possible, staying at home is nothing but a mental health disaster,my adventure is with photography,walking miles and cycling for miles, find what you enjoy and do it.

Richard, if this isn't motivation to get outdoors, I don't know what is. Being prepared for the conditions you will be in is important, but at the same time, "Don't pack your Fears", a lot of folks will pack the kitchen sink. My main motivation is watching others on their adventures like Richard from Day tripper. 😊 I'm sure this video will inspire folks to #getoutdoors 👍 Thanks for sharing and congrats again on the Christmas challenge win.

As of the end of December my father had a stroke. I was planning on going out we're just waiting for one Amazon delivery of my second wool blanket and I was going to head out on an overnighter the next weekend however, 3 days before the delivery. My dad had a stroke. I now can't do it. He is showing so e improvement so hopefully I will still go however it will be a few months now. Sometimes that's how it goes.

Thanks for posting this, it's an important discussion to have. For me the biggest hurdle to overcome is the bit you got to at the end there - the guilt of abandoning my family. Neither my wife nor my daughter are outdoorsy types. So it's always solo expeditions for me - which I don't mind, apart from the guilt about the dereliction of duty! As you say though, a caring family ought to understand that stuff like this is good for all round wellbeing!
@DayTripperAdventures Жыл бұрын
Thanks yes it’s important to agree in the family how long and how often works being away. I stated out by getting up very early Saturday mornings and hiking somewhere for around 4 hours getting back for lunchtime hopefully but as you know these hikes always take longer than the think when you get lost etc. another thought is how present are we when we are all together at home? With all the phones, TV and distractions. I try to build up credit in my family account by making sure there are outings together of other sorts. It’s finding a balance. Great video on Dartmoor issue by the way I saw it this morning 👍

A good New Years message. Experience has taught me too that the most difficult part of the journey is the first step. Fear is paralyzing like the boogeyman in the dark. Often you find in reality he's a puffed-up nothing like the fear of what others think.

The guilt of leaving the family while I'm having fun, It takes a long time to get stuff ready, then pack, plan your route, gather all your thoughts, and actually go out the front door, the problem is I go through the front door only to forget something and have to come back feeling worse😂

Hi Richard, extremely well put. Will be forwarding your video to a few people as you put it across better than I could. I have a sense of adventure that was triggered by my Father getting a job with Aur Canada in the early 80s and I could get free travel on them. At 18 I went to LA from London via Toronto on my own and went travelling all over Southwest USA, the adventure bug was born. Planning on cycling The Hebridean Way in May

Sounds great Dave. My knees are not as good after last years C2C and my fall but I’m ok but am trying to be more realistic with long hikes this year. I may do East Highland Way or something in Scotland. Maybe it’s not the long distance that is important but enjoying shorter sections

@@DayTripperAdventures I have started walking regularly with a local group Leicestershire Footpath Association, they do about 6 miles with a pint and meal afterwards. Also I do the same with a cycling group but thats about 40 miles. They are much more about the social side of it which is really nice. I still have the big ambitions but I'm realistic so shall set out and see on those. Of course its not really about what you do, it could be anything as is somthing different for all. 🙏👍😊
