A hack for those plastic nail brushes you use to scrub underneath your nails, if the underside of your nails are really stubborn, trimming the plastic bristles with like an old cuticle nipper and making them like 1/8 of an inch long makes the bristles less flexible (because they’re shorter) and therefore stiffer! Sometimes, I feel like those brushes are too soft and I can’t really scrub underneath the nail as good as I would like to and trimming the brushes works really well for me!❤

I'm not a professionally trained nail tech, manicure is my hobby and every time I get a new bit I always tested on my self first. First thing I check - can I cut my self. Then I do a dry cleanup on 2,3 nails and check on those nails in the following week. Keep in mind I do no more than 3 sets in a week, so i have the time to try, test and experiment

This is exactly why after years of doing enhancements. I completely stopped all. Because I my hands were always in moisture. I am a retired florist. The upkeep was so time consuming and expensive!!! I would have to go every week just to maintain. Then I learned to do myself thanks to Suzie and Liz. Again I was constantly maintaining. I can't stand dirty nails !!! I'm a farmer now and definitely no way to keep enhancements clean now. So I have natural strong nails since I stopped everything except basic cleaning and moisturizer.

Hiii Susie 😊 I'm a manicurist from way back in the day as well. And yes, we didn't have the same kind of drill bits back then. I used the smallest barrel. I also would add a small drop of 5 second glue. I knew there wasn't any moisture in there. It worked every time. Also, my clients who had been to other manicurist who didn't clean under the nail or clean the cuticle would complain about them. I attracted many clients from my clean, careful, natural looking nails and the care I took and showed them. And that worked everytime as well ~ Amazing how far this industry has progressed, especially the gel products and lamps. Thoroughly enjoy your videos. Everything you share is 💯🌿

O want you to know that your content has helped me grow my natural nails and protect them with “enhancements”. I live in a homestead so getting my nails done with poly gel and forms was mot in my radar until I got tired of them breaking painfully all the time. I’ve been doing my own enhancements for 8 weeks and my natural nails are now the length, short, of my enhancements. And none have broken or come off in the 3 weeks I give each set. Thank you very much for all you do for us.

I don't seem to have this issue much, but my nails are thin to start with so when they grow out a couple of weeks I find the product has adhered and covered the tip. I keep them short and extend them, and change the nails after a month. When I do I clip them right down to nothing again. That said, top coat under my nails does help, and for everything else there is a nail brush. I keep one in the kitchen for after cooking and one in my bathroom. I use it every other day at least and don't seem to have a lot of issue. I don't garden or do crafts with powders, though - powder gets under there like crazy!

I thought about you yesterday when I was at my nail salon in Maine, US. I remember watching your video about the greenies. Last time I went, my thumb nail was starting it, he filled it as usual. Yesterday, I warned her, (a different person) that my nail was getting really funky. She said that we should remove all of them and start over. My right nail doesn’t grow straight it kinda grows down, tending to separate. Do you think removing the ledge from my nail like in this video might help? Had I not seen your video about the greenies, I would have freaked out and probably never get my nails done again. I’m not a nail tech but I’ve learned a lot from you. Thank you! 💕

Hi Suzie, I love all of your videos so much! They are inspiring me to start my own journey of learning how to do nails and becoming a technician. Could you please do a video teaching us about cuticle care and proper cuticle prep for extensions? I've seen a lot of debate online about whether or not cuticles should be cut/removed because they're there to protect us from infection. Is it okay to just push back the eponychium with an orangewood stick and use a cuticle remover? Or should we use a drill or nippers in order to remove all of that skin? Thank you 💗🌷🥰
@NailCareerEducation
@NailCareerEducation 7 ай бұрын
Unless there’s and excess amount of cuticle simply push it back It’s a little crazy out there with the cuticle care - it’s over exaggerated and over done- we need a certain amount - removing too much is not good and can cause an overgrowth

If you have concerns about staining and debris, then wearing gloves while cooking is an absolute win. However, when your nail tips are as sharp as Susie’s, gloves will just rip through. The best way to clean under your enhancements is a good nail brush. If stains are resistant, then use a Q-Tip dipped in hydrogen peroxide to clean out the stains, then immediately wash and scrub the nails. It may seem tedious to touch something, then immediately wash your hands, but if you want clean nails you will do it regardless. I don’t use nail forms often but I have near had this issue as I wash my hands and scrub under my nails more than 6 times a day 😂 I always apply cuticle oil to the underside of my nails. Cuticle oil will help keep the excess hyponychium to a minimum as well 😉

That's your hyponicium. It's totally natural!! Please, don't remove it!! It's just our anatomy. That's "the skin under her nails" that she mentions she's accidentally cut before. VERY PAINFUL. It keeps germs, water, and junk from getting under your nail plate. Just like skin does for our bodies😊 ( between your nail bed (soft part) and nail plate (hard part) You could end up with Onycholysis or something similar or worse. I've had Onycholysis (my real nails basically falling off), and it was so ugly and scary until I understood what it was!😳

It’s just the natural nail which is more yellow fhan the pale polish. Filing right down again to a point you then can’t smooth fully will surely leave a jagged edge/surface which will allow bacteria to cling on. Regular hand washing & use of a nail brush & antibacterial soap should suffice.

I have super flat nails on my index fingers and I think the pinching tool hurts, so I’ve been trying to use the form like you showed in your video. I’m getting a gap at the free edge area. I’m afraid of moisture getting in there and getting the greenies. Should I just fill in the gap with some hybrid gel (I’m not confident enough with acrylic to use it on myself yet) or am I doing something wrong?

Hi Suzie, thanks for this video, it's ever so informative and useful, even if someone only does their nails occasionally, like me. I'd like to point out, though, that there absolutely are hand files one could use. They are shaped a bit like a horses hoof ... could I include an url here? I'm not certain, it might be taken as an advert, but I'm not being paid by the company ... Thanks in advance.

I am so crazy for cleaning under my nails, my nails are super long so my hyponychium has grown a bit long as well, luckily it keeps my under nail protected. HOWEVER I ripped one the other day and it hurt like hell

Hi need some advice… uhm i started doing my nails last December. I tried gel x and dual nails first, last month i did acrylics but after a few days i started getting allergies. I removed them and so i tried gel again but then i started getting allergies😭 i don’t know what to do. I got into doing my nails because it’s so fun and keeps me busy. It was a new hobby for me and i love it but now I can’t 😢 is there any alternatives? I can’t grow my natural nails coz it always breaks. Doing normal nail polish isn’t fun for me either

First to be really good to find out exactly what you’re allergic to. Then you can find products that may not contain that ingredient. Hema can be a very popular allergen. You can also try applying your full cover tips with acrylic however, it is a harder medium to work with. So it does require more patients and skill. But if you best to find out what you’re all allergic to, I would start there.

Great video, thank you! Is this something you would do only once, or repeat again a few says later?
