PLEASE can you do a video about free edge lifting on natural nails for beginner nail technicians? I NEVER have cuticle lifting, but discouraged because it's always on the free edge and I don't know what I'm doing wrong?

Yes! The lifting on the free edge is why I’ve veered away from overlay, and just opt for tips or full cover tips. But my nails are also really thin, so that probably has a lot to do with it. I love doing overlays, but I’ll get a greenie because it’s lifted at the free edge.
@Starfirahs10 ай бұрын
Same here!!! Especially when using half cover tips! I'd appreciate a video on this as well 😇 I'm thinking it has to do with the nail glue I was using. Recently I did a set on someone and used a different brand of nail glue, and they haven't contacted me about any lifting yet. Hoping it was just an issue with the glue 🤞 Regardless, I'd definitely love a video on this!

I think I've found my mistake...I was "over prepping the free edge", essentially weakening the nail, so the gel had nothing to hold on to...hope this helps someone! X

Some people have naturally oily nail beds, so wiping with alcohol is important. Make sure it is completely dry before you use your dehydrator. Yes, the combination is important!! If you choose not to use alcohol, use a dry lint free wipe to get rid of all the dust. The slip layer is meant to be thin; yes: cured; yes. It is meant to be the general, final shape (almond, ballerina, stiletto, etc) and length you want. (Less likely to flood the cuticle). Gel sticks to gel so the dispersion layer is enough for your structure bead(s). Keep in mind, Susie is a veteran professional. What we find easy for experienced pros, is not easy for newbies. Especially when doing your own nails.

First, thank you so much for putting out these videos. Frustrated by nail techs in my area only doing what’s fast, and ignoring what’s best for my nails, I started the long journey of learning how to do my own acrylic. I know this is about gel, I’m struggling with where to post a question. I just ordered product from you, which I’m excited to try!! My issue is lifting on the tips of my nails. I have my natural nails short. I use acrylic to keep my nails strong enough to grow out long. I do not like my natural nail filed away. I used to have a nail tech who did a beautiful job and never ever took anything off my natural nail, but they retired. I’ve not found anyone since who doesn’t do this, instead they either use super glue on the very ends, or they grind my nail away. Now that I’m doing it myself, I understand this more as it’s frustrating to have the tips separate from the acrylic. How do I fix this??? Thank you so much, I love your videos!!
@kristensletten17666 ай бұрын
Get yourself a nail dehydrator and nail primer ... You apply it after you finish prepping your nails before you apply your acrylic or gel.. I can almost guarantee that is why your acrylic or gel is separating from your natural nail.. It's a game changer.. My nails last a while month of not longer with no lifting or separation.. I usually try to do my nails every 3 weeks

Tip sizing is important for lifting. That is what I wanted to learn about. How to size press ons the best way. Those of us with flat nails have a hell of time. We get lifting because a tip is too wide or too small. Also when they grow out since the cuticle of the nails is narrower than the smile line they lift. Also making sure the space is filled on flat nails because flat nails very easily get air pockets and again we have lifting. I’d love a video on these issues.

Love your videos. ❤ And you explain it detailed. easy to follow. How are Cameraman doing? hope he fells better now! I have been taking medicines for 10 + years because of a chronic disease and used to have lifting quite a lot for some years. and then it suddenly changed, but i did the prep and everything the same, one of the medicines are hormones, and that affect the nails to just as much as the rest of the body. and suddenly i only had a little lifting on the dominant hand on the thumb and index finger. (i only remove the lifted area and do infill) and yesterday i had to take off all the gel and build it up from the beginning again. for there was so much lifting. don't know how the gel still was stuck to the nail 🤣 but the prep and everything is still done the same.

I was told that when your nails grow out and you do fills that you must keep your nail oiled. Under the nail that you apply. It can cause them to dry out and a nail will pop even if you do proper cleaning and prep of the cuticle Ill be testing this.
@NailCareerEducation10 ай бұрын
In my 35 years of doing acrylic and gel full sculpted, we never pushed oil and we rarely had issues. So sure you can put oil on the nail and it’s not going to hurt, but it’s not gonna help that exponentially. It’s nice to add it, but it’s not crucial to the longevity of any nail service.

SUSIE, my acrylic brush seems to be flipping it's hairs? it's not soomth as if it were new...WHY?
@NailCareerEducation10 ай бұрын
Could be a couple things- Poor quality and there’s nothing you can do. Or if it’s synthetic, then it can lose its shape very quickly and it does not go back. Or if it is a good quality and it’s 100% natural hair or even 50/50 it can get frayed if the brush has been pushed in the opposite direction of the way it is laid inside the brush barrel. So it is important on how you use it. Also, if any acrylic was cured in the brush, it can totally destroy the hairs. However, I have had Brushes where I have cure Product it inside the hair and I had no patience to soak it out because I had a client immediately so I literally cut it out And surprising how much you can cut out before you destroy the brush. I’ve done this many times over the years and was able to use the brush for quite a bit longer, in some cases months before I actually got around to getting a new one
