I love really skatey glass surfaces. I know for most people a more 'paper like' surface is more intuitive, but a dead smooth glass surface and a plastic stylus that slides over likes it's on ice is perfect for me. Precision comes with practice, if you're using one all day the lack of resistance is so much less fatiguing. Best of all, stylus tips last months and months. S-Pens with a hard tip fitted are particularly good.

This opinion is really rare. I wish I could go down the same path as yours. I'm a student and I plan to buy an iPad Pro M4. It has that OLED display. But putting on a matte screen protector on it would be a crime. Can you tell me how your experience was? The learning curve of learning to write/draw on glass, I mean.
@fix0the0spade3 ай бұрын
@@Muhammed.Yaseen For me there wasn't/isn't a learning curve. It's like if you're writing with a ballpoint that has quite a lot of resistance, then someone hands you a fountain pen that glides over the paper. For a second or two it feels off, then your brain goes 'ok, this pen handles like this so we'll move our hand a little bit differently,' and you carry on writing. Doing very fine details can be a little more difficult because the stylus doesn't like to sit still but big sweeping movements are easier, so it evens out.

The more I kept drawing with the Apple Pencil on my brothers Ipad on a daily and S-Pen when I got my S6 Lite I really had to get used to the S-Pen I actually thought it was worse until I used it for a week every day and now I can totally feel how amazing it is compared to the Apple pencil. I draw with both but the depth, the grip and the fact that mine has not needed a new nib for 2 years now. I wish Apple had a S-pen equivalent. I don't like that the Apple pencil only feels good with a Paperlike screenprotector. Which takes away a lot of screen quality. While the S-pen works perfect with normal screenprotectors

@drunkenmuse he has the Apple Pencil 2. And It feels good but with both pens u need to use them daily to really understand the way it can be used. For me the S-Pen does ace it everytime tho. Especially since it doesn't need paperlike. It's really a waste of colour accuracy and just your tablet experience in general. I'd be really happy if there were a more in-depth review of the styli, their build and the technology they use. Especially those on tablets. Like how exactly does the tip feel, how does it behave mechanically, what's the pressure and tilt performance. A thing I noticed when trying the apple pencil and s pen (on the s9 fe) side-by side in a store was the following: When using the s pen, the display deactivates when you draw on it, meaning there is no thouch input whatsoever until you lift it far enough for the hovering cursor to disappear. That's sort of weird. Another thing i noticed in the store, but I don't think is normal, is that the tip of the s9's s pen wobbled an awful lot, which makes it bind up against the pens housing and makes it impossible to use at anything but an almost vertical angle. The store rep claimed the pen works like normal, but I honestly can't imagine it being this terrible and think their display unit might be broken (especially since the s10 doesn't have that issue. If it were truly that terrible across the board, it would be straight up unbuyable for me). It still makes me a tiny bit worried about the s pen maybe breaking quickly, because samsung don't seem to sell any nibs themselves (at least not to consumers). However, simply because of how the pen is constructed, you can't use the s pen at nearly as shallow an angle as the apple pencil, because the s pen has a short nib that just stops touching the screen after a certain angle. I still think it's hard for the 100+ buck apple pencil to beat the s pen being included for free. (I personally also can't stand iOS, even though i use a mac, but that's a matter of preference)

I used to do wacom, and over the 15 years(!) I used them, I had software and driver issues, across multiple devices, multiple computers. School computers, home computers, work computers. I got a $30 Huion as a cheap travel tablet. I started using Huion exclusively. It just worked!!! Sure, the UI of the software is weird, but it does what you want it to, without it suddenly breaking one day. The number one creativity killer for me with wacom was opening photoshop, having pressure sensitivity stop working for the 30th time in the year, and spending 2 hours trying to get it back. Huion, at most, I had to restart my computer to regain it. In my book, I'm paying less for more art time.

I wish more research and fact checking was made before making this video. The galaxy tablets and s pen work thanks to Wacom's EMR technology, and as a result, the pens and devices are cross compatible. You can use the s pen on the Wacom One, and many EMR pens on Galaxy tablets. The most notable ones are "pen for wacom one" (the one with the tapered barrel), Lamy AL-star EMR digital stylus, Staedtler Noris Digital (Normal and Jumbo size), Staedtler Mars Lumograph Digital (a bit harder to find, also has Jumbo size), and the Dr. Grip Pilot stylus pens. These all work great on galaxy tablets. You're not limited to just the S pen. You have A LOT of really good options. Another thing to note is the wacom one nibs (NOT the 2023 edition), wacom pro pen 2 nibs, and s pen nibs are all interchangeable with each other. Wacom has POM nibs (hard plastic) and felt nibs to choose from. They also have elastomer nibs (rubber tip) for the newer wacom one pen. The Lamy AL-star EMR stylus has a few options for nibs. You can get the round POM nib (hard plastic), but they also have PC/EL nibs (rubber tip, same as s pen nib, best for drawing on glass screens). They have a 0.7mm round PC/EL nib, and a 0.35mm pointy PC/EL nib (similar to the s pen). Which nib should you choose? If you're planning on drawing on the glass screen or a tempered glass screen protector, get the PC/EL or elastomer nib (PC/EL and elastomer are the same thing). The felt nib might work too since it offers more texture. The rubber tip will provide a drag, unless you prefer your pen to glide across the screen. If you're planning on using a matte screen protector to mimic the feel of paper, use a POM nib. I've seen a lot of people prefer using a metal nib when drawing to prevent having to ever replace the nib. I HIGHLY recommend using a screen protector if you plan on going this route. The metal nib could possibly scratch your screen. It's also worth noting that a metal nib could wear down your matte screen protector faster, so keep that in mind.

I have used mostly 4 different pens. In order of how I like them-The Wacom that comes with the Intuos Pro, the Huion that comes with the Huion 13 inch Pro 2.5K, the Apple Pencil 2 and Pro, and the Surface Pro Pen (latest). I loved the Apple Pencil 2 and Pro used with the Rock, Paper, Pencil metal tip with the corresponding matt screen (love it and hate the plastic pencil on glass). Don't like the Apple Pencil plastic tip. I like the Intuos Pro the best for feel. Really don't like the Surface Pen (don't like the plastic tip on glass as with the Apple Pencils and wish there was a metal tip like the RPP tip on matte screen). If I really had to pick one I would pick the Wacom Pen. I really don't like the Surface Slim Pen. Those are my 2 extremes. I do love drawing with the Apple Pencil with the metal tip on matte screen RPP (very close to the pencil on paper experience for me and I can say I actually love it).

Where the pen won’t work after waking up the PC or if the monitor went to sleep and you need to restart the Drivers. But despite that it works most of the time and nothing else works quite as good. And when it’s your job not your hobby. It just works is a thing you can’t beat. It’s why even though nVIdia is king in ray tracing I’m considering moving to Mac because Windows 11 has become a buggy mess where updates can brick your computer. I want to spend time creating not trying to figure out work around because the tools aren’t working the way I want it to.

So I decided to find a better alternative, and I purchased the Wacom One 13 stylus (the one that's half white half black), and I consider it to have a way better built. In terms of drawing, it feels exactly the same, if not better, and it is a bit easier to switch between brush and eraser. It works out of the box and doesn't require charging. However, it's not compatible with samsung's smart commands (swipe motions, quick menu, etc). I know lamy also has a pretty good stylus, but I found the Wacom One 13 at half the price.

I had my eyes on that one, but I wasn't sure if it's compatible, since I already tried Staedler's Noris mini, but it didn't work with my tablet at all, even though it's supposed to be compatible with EMR technology (although maybe it's just this model, anyway it was even smaller than expected so I'm fine without it 😅)
@lunaticaliana34793 ай бұрын
@dwimmered No problem, I hope it helped!! I had my reservations regarding Staedtler's styluses, especially because of the very thin tip. Though, it could be a factory issue with the stylus. Or could it be that it's only compatible with Apple (there are some styluses like that) I wouldn't be too surprised if they implemented such a thing, but I doubt that Samsung would gatekeep EMR on the s9 plus (the highest model they have, too) in favor of the S-Pen. Especially when using a wacom product from the same company that allowed Samsung to have this kind of tech in their tablets. I own an s6 Lite, and so far, wacom One 13 works without any issues. So I hope it will work for you too. Some people have tried the lamy one as well with samsung tablets, but I can't give any helpful feedback on that one.

@@lunaticaliana3479 Yeah, it's what I thought too, which is why I was surprised the stylus wouldn't work on s9+, although it wasn't on the list of compatible devices at the time. I just checked and it seems they finally updated the documents tho. Lamy also seems worth a try, at least they guarantee the compatibility and the fact that they offer two different types of nib replacements depending on the surface of the device, which is neat! Thank you again for help! I'll give it some more thought and see which one I'd like to try, I really hope it'll work this time and I was just unlucky before x)

@@lunaticaliana3479 I thought the same, that's why I was so surprised the pen didn't work with my tablet, but I might have really just been unlucky. The lamy one looks worth a try as well. I'll give it some thought before I decide and hopefully it goes well. Thank you again for taking the time to offer me your insight!

i am the #1 registered Apple Hater but there is simply no other pen that has a better mechanism for tilting and drawing on its side. its the only pen i can hold with the overhand grip! the ipad and pencil is the only apple device i own because its just that good. having the actual physical side of the stylus present for tilting is SO important.

Why you always ignore the S-Pen Creator Edition?

Mainly because the one I tested broke while I was reviewing 😂 But also it's the same as all the other s-pens just a different shape.

У яблочного карандаша самая низкая чувствительность пожалуй из всех стилусов - об этом стоит упомянуть. Также на Android есть планшет xp pen где стилус работает по технологии xp pen.

Am I the only one who dislikes apple pencil? It's tip is so roundy and when I use it I can't see where my line lands and my linearts turns out so bad.

apple pencil hover is only with ipads with the m2 processor or over which sucks, it’s the only reason i got the most recent ipad air rather than older models. though the accuracy with the apple pencil is near perfect. personally i like the round tip, but that’s just a personal preference. i just like the premium feel and its weight. i can understand why some won’t like the apple pencil though.

Hmm I expected a bit more info about the pens. This was a bit underwhelming. I also didn't see the S-Pen Pro S-Pen Creator edition. The second having quality issues due to it's nib that easily breaks and even worse nib remover. I'd love to hear from a pro if those things are correct. Also you say everything except from Samsung is not very good on Android, but I do see your artstyle is really cool but your feeling for these styluses can differ due to artist having different styles. What about if you draw with lot of cross hatching? Realistic, what if u only use airbrushes or water brushes? What would make these pens not so good? I'd love to see examples. Zooming in and showing the wobble.. And how different pens draw the same line with different brush types. This video was a bit vague and I had to take your word for it more than that you actually showed what's good or bad about any pen.

M-Pencil 3rd Gen n the Matepad 2024 paper matte.....outclasses everything else on the market. The fact you didnt review the m-pencil suggests you haven't really delivered a great video. Thats not a crit your work is normally top notch, but really the m-pencil 3rd gen with 10k pressure on the Matepad 12.2 2024, makes Apple, Samsung and everything else feel old and dated. Honestly theres no comparison, its the hand down best on the market at the moment. Apple and Samsung will have their work cut out bringing out better. It would seem to me you havent tried it in which case you should before doing your next review, both the tablet and the pen are sheer beauty. Its the first tablet ever I would say outclasses iPad by a country mile. And anything else, Huawei really delivered a peach with it. And FYI, its better than Wacom, better than dedicated drawing screens, better than everything Its quite simply a total blinder of a drawing experience. Pressure, tracking, accuracy, everything and the feel of it is just sublime. Ive never felt drawing like it on a digital screen before, its beautiful. The fact they put GoPaint free on it suggests they were really aiming for the art market and that would explain the sheer finesse of the experience.
