I have a fixed shell holder on my M500A but my new go to is the velcro shot shell carrier from mesa. Much easier to reload by slapping another card on and keep moving.

These have been around for a WHILE and they work better then most of what’s out there and much lighter to carry then the bolt on carriers and the bolt carriers shell holders generally weaken over time which causes the shell to fall out or loose fit

I have 2 of everything and 30 or so of others. I have an SOE micro shotgun rig, a 36 shell carrier made from 6 cards and a triple mag pouch. I have 2 16 round carriers, 2 25 rounders and an 18 rounder. I have 6,7,8,9 shot cards. I can configure easily 72 shells just using the triple mag pouch and 6 9 shoters. I can use any or all of the above with a plate carrier and a battle belt. 67 plus my gun is what I usually train with.

Elijah, spoken like a man who knows a shotgun. I couldn’t agree with you more, shot shell cards are by far the most effective way to carry ammunition. I love the fact that when that card has expanded all is ammunition it is simply stripped away allowing me to add a new fully charge card to the shotgun. I appreciate you watching and commenting. I heard from use, that the velcro which is stationary on the gun, starts to come off. I had a friend super-glue it back on. But that is sort of ruining your shotgun. So going back and forth between the velcro and the hard shell holder.
@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC
@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC 3 жыл бұрын
I have used the type of shot shell holder as shown in this video for a number of years. I put it through several heavy duty training classes and I’ve never had a problem with it. I find it interesting that someone felt they had to superglue it on. Sounds like they’re using the wrong type of backing and also I have not cleaned the shotgun prior to and hearing the adhesive part to the frame.

@vladimirlopez7840
@vladimirlopez7840 9 ай бұрын
I’ve had the same problem. It’s not just cleaning the surface. When you clean and oil the shotgun some oil and solvent weeps through the holes the pins are in and the Velcro peels. This system works if you never clean or lubricate your shotgun.

I would probably put a shell holder on the side of the receiver and the side of the stock.
@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC
@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. For me the side of the stock is a problem if you have to transition to your non-dominant side. Seen plenty of guys suffer in advanced SG classes when we did bilateral shooting. The folks with shotshells holders on their stock suffered badly bruised cheeks and jaws when transitioning to their non-dominant side. I encourage people to learn to shoot in a way that will allow you to use any cover (learn to shoot with both hands and arms and both eyes open).

Rust on the parkerized receiver of my Scattergun Technologies shotgun is an issue with the polymer shell holder that came with the shotgun. Now I’m about to cover the receiver with velcro loop after removing the rust. Instead of a coating the receiver with a rust preventative, I’m instructed to clean the area with alcohol. This seems to be counterintuitive. Comments?
@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC
@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching incoming. The reason to use alcohol is to make sure that you get the surface you’re attaching the adhesive to clean. So yes, you do want to use rubbing alcohol and clear the area where the sticky part of the Velcro is attached to the shotgun. I’m a big fan of the shot cards as a better way to attach extra shells to the shotgun and I have other tabs available simply to throw on the side of the shotgun when you expand the ones you have in the current cabinet. It’s very efficient. Thanks for watching and commenting I hope you will subscribe to the channel.

Many thanks for watching and commenting. I think it depends on the type of shell caddy or carrier you were using. That’s fine until you have to shift the gun to your non-dominant side. From a defensive standpoint you need to be able to shoot with you either dominant or nondominant hand. Having this on the butt stock is a sure way to beat up your face.

Thanks for watching. Yes you can find aggressive Velcro with adhesive and try this on the frame of your shotgun. I recommend cleaning the frame with alcohol to make sure there’s no oil residue. Once that’s dry try the Velcro. Keep in mind the tabs are often sold with Velcro backing. I hope this helps.

David, thank you for watching and commenting. As someone who lived in Rhode Island for a number of years, I am extremely disheartened to see the lurch toward the progressive left. Unfortunately, second amendment rights are being stripped away throughout the country. Many people on the other side are well-intentioned, but they simply do not understand the law, nor do they understand the right of self-defense is a God-given right. Even if someone doesn’t believe in God, they should at least understand that we should not have to die at the hands of someone else, because we do not have the tools to be able to defend ourselves. Any student of history can see how tyranny always starts by disarming the citizens.

@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC
@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC Жыл бұрын
Sir, thank you for sharing your perspective. The reason I feel it’s important to be able to shoot any shoulder mounted weapon bilaterally is because the operator has more flexibility and potentially greater use of cover, depending on which side of the cover he needs to shoot from. If I only shoot from my dominant side, that means depending on the cover, I would have to expose more of my upper body to incoming fire. Transitioning to the non-dominant side I can use cover more effectively because I’m not limited to shooting from one side only. Secondly, I’ve shot this shotgun and other semi automatic shotguns without a support hand. While it’s not ideal, it’s certainly doable. For me, mounting the shell card on the side of the frame is a simply more flexible option versus mounting it on the stock. Again, everyone has opinions on what works best. At the end of the day it all comes down to training, practice, and proficiency. Thanks again for commenting. Stay safe.

Sir, thank you for watching and commenting. I’ve used this set up in multiple classes and for my home defense set up as well. The great thing about shot shell cards, is there easy to slap on the side and strip them off as soon as they’re empty. When the shotgun has eight rounds in it and another seven on its side, it’s not heavy at all from my perspective. And I’m a handicapped guy with a bad hand and arm. I figure if I can put up with the little teeny bit of added weight it works. Anyway, that’s just my perspective. I do appreciate you taking the time to comment and hope you will check out some of our other content on the channel and subscribe if you find it interesting. All the best and stay safe.
