Watching this video and listening to the phrase "Don't run around like a chicken with your head cut off", sure🤣🤣🤣 I remembered a scene that happened with me and my mom when I was 7 or 8 years old. She asked me to help her kill a chicken for our lunch. So, when she cut off the chicken's head and all the blood flowed out after some time, she left the headless chicken lying on top of sink laundry washing tub, but the chicken got up and staggered away, spreading blood everywhere! That scene was unforgettable and terrible!🤣

Hi Tanya. I grew up seeing my farmers family process animals like chickens or pigs in a humane way to provide food! For m the both way to remind it's helpful. Sometimes just show don't tell works great! 🎉

it's interesting, I am curious how? When I was a kid, actually I did NOT like to watch adults butchering pigs or chickens in my hometown.

Hi Tanya. I like too much when you mention a word and do the action. It's very effective. Regarding the phrase " don't run.... " it reminds me when I was a little girl and I used to look at that gross image at home when sb killed the chicken like that. When I was a teen so far I couldn't stay looking at those terrible slaughther. To live in a farm a good method to eat only vegetables...You're right there sometimes in life when the demands of our energies, actions are excesive. It similar to say "to eat more than I could chew" from Sinatra's song My way. I try to create my own examples to talk in English alone as a way of studying all the things written down in my notebooks. Thanks Tanya creative and efficient, it is the way you are. Un beso, Susana desde Argentina.

Please answer me madam : Are the phrasal verbs as such important as the phrases ? Should we memorize all of them completely ? They are over than 1000 Which is more important to know to, learn and to memorise ? the Phrasal verbs or common phrases ?

Here's an example: "Don't tell me he's been running like a chicken with its head cut off all day: show me that." Thanks. And I find this method of memorizing things to be much more effective, as we can associate the words with the real-life stories. Greetings from Ukraine to you. I'm a "crazy" teen who writes fiction in the second language, and I've definitely heard "show don't tell" a bunch of times before. 😄👍

I've heard that the most commonly used phrase spoken by Harvard graduates is 'Would you like fries with that?' ... * Moscow, Russia

@@Carlos-oz5dw Carlos, you need to buy yourself a sense of humor-assuming yours isn’t already a little... soggy. Never teach people what to do if you do not know them.

If I were a student, I’d say: first tell, then show.
@EnglishCoach3Ts2 ай бұрын
Why would you say that?
@RegnumV2 ай бұрын
@@EnglishCoach3Ts Tanya, the phrase "If I were a student, I’d say: first tell, then show" reflects the idea that effective learning often relies on structure and clarity. Imagine this: as a student, I’d want to first hear the explanation-the “why” and the “how” behind something-so I can grasp the context and purpose. It’s like laying down the foundation before building the house. When we start with the “tell,” it prepares the mind for what’s coming next. It sets the stage, provides a roadmap, and creates anticipation. Then, when the “show” follows, it all clicks into place. The visual or practical demonstration reinforces the knowledge and makes it tangible. Without the “tell,” the “show” might feel like a random display, leaving questions about what to focus on or why it matters. It’s the classic blend of theory first, practice second-a tried-and-true approach that ensures comprehension. So, this phrase isn’t just about preferences; it’s about optimizing the process of learning. It’s my way of saying that understanding should always come before action, and clarity is the key to mastering anything. 😊
