Good video; I'd be interested to hear your thoughts about how Pain and Cold seem to go hand-in-hand? For example, ICE-E's pain chart, pain and cold listed in the goner maker, the thorn ring being part of the snowgrave run. There's definitely a link in there somewhere..!

@@Raiscan I think it's pretty interesting the links between the two but I'm not really sure how I'd expand on that on a deeper level. I think it's not just about physical pain either but cold seems to relate to emotional pain too. The enemies with the ice element we've seen so far are specifically described as being emotionally distant and reserved, plus there's the "coldness" stat Noelle gains during a snowgrave route (which I totally forgot to mention in the video. Oops), which gets higher as she gets worse iirc. Cold is bad news for the characters in general basically

Hello! Apologies for the rough video quality, the editing program I used to make this video was not so good. If any of you know any free editing programs that suck less please do tell of them, it would be appreciated :) The deltarune winter newsletter came out just before i had finished all this so that's why I don't mention it in this video, otherwise I would have included some more of my thoughts on it for sure. I appreciate anyone who watches this video through its entirety for listening to my scatterbrained ramblings about this. I hadn't seen anyone else talk in depth on cold despite me thinking it was pretty important for the plot so I thought "screw it" and decided to put it out there in the world myself. I can wholeheartedly recommend "Shotcut" as a free editing programm. I use it for my own Let's Plays. It's easy to use, has a solid line-up of functions and a pretty intuitive interface. Yes, you can't really do crazy stuff with it, but as a trade-off you can make solid high quality edits after just watching a 10min tutorial and fiddling around with filters on your own instead of having to spend a semester in a seminar just to know how to load in clips. And once again: It's completely free! (and open source as well, I believe, but don't quote me on that).

This may sound like a stretch but I think it is very important and likely true and applies to the analysis of "cold". Asgore and Rudy are shown to have a relationship in the scrapped alarm clock app. This means that (unless Toby is cool with hundred year age gaps) Rudy likely has to be a boss monster back in the undertale universe. Boss monsters that we have seen so far in battle (Toriel, Asgore and Asriel) are all shown to have fire magic. This is likely important as this means that if Rudy shows up in a dark world he will very likely have fire magic witch could work very thematically if Rudy has to fight the Fun gang/Noelle. Lastly (and what I think proves my theory) when playing dragon blazers with Noelle in Ch 2 normal route (witch is shown to parallel deltarune) he tells Noelle to use "fireshock" or a "blaze potion" witch proves ineffective. He seems eager to use fire magic so I would be inclined to belive that this is the kind of magic he would use. This could be some really grim foreshadowing for Rudy possibly in vein fighting a snowgrave route Noelle and I would not be shocked if in one of the final chapters Noelle is pressured into killing her own father. TLDR; Rudy cast fireball :0 P.S. Really good Theory hope to see more from this channel.

this is interesting because i think the agreed upon (in the fandom at least) meaning of the term boss monster is that its referring specifically to the dreemurr family, but i like the idea that boss monster is just something that refers to a type of monster rather than just the look of them. you are also right for bringing up rudy being drawn to fire magic, ive always thought that was interesting and im curious what it means for the narrative

Hey this a really good video! I really liked it you def have earned another sub! I liked a Lot of points in it and it just took until now to realize the route that you kinda shun everyone or act "cold" is the route where your literally freezing everyone! (I'm gonna be honest... I might be kinda stupid.) Anyway I actually have something to add to this that I've thought about for a while. and the connection to ice might be a bit bigger than you think. I think there's a connection to Deltarune and WATER! Just to name a few examples the dark FOUNTANINS are often described as FLOWING which I'm sure I don't need to explain those 2 connections to water. there's also the mysterious "song of the sea" that onion mentions. and also the fact that Kris is BLUE! in the dark world! (or that one may be a bit of a stretch) But STILL! And trust me there is a LOT of other connections that I would love and could talk all day about! but I don't think this is the time or place for that... anyway I think Deltarue's larger "conspiracy" is actually about the Water! which everything you said and talked about ice would obviously fall under! Anyway again I just want to say how good this video is and I cant wait for your next one! have a good one!

idk if you've seen that mollystars video on deltarune, but there's a point in which they talk about that whole "what if it can get darker than dark" shtick. They make a connection between deltarune's dark worlds and an scp that's basically a dvd that can go into increasingly deeper layers of fiction by entering TVs in a free camera mode inside an episode of The Sopranos. Like they enter a fictional show in the sopranos universe, then a fictional universe of that fictional universe and so on until the cd stops working. Point is, even if you theoretically can go darker than dark there will come a point that stuff will start to get weird and kind of impossible. I'm saying this because if we go by the interpretation that dark=cold, then these "dark worlds within dark worlds", that people theorize will happen, there will come a point that you will not be able to go any darker/colder. You can only get so cold until you reach the theoretical absolute zero in the Kelvin scale, the coldest temperature, the darkest dark world. And even if you reach absolute zero there's some funky paradoxical stuff that happens because matter doesn't exist if the temperature is null, so maybe the state in which Dess and Gaster are found in the game can be an annalogy to the absolute zero state, seeing how they are Very Funky™. sorry for the wall of text -> tl:dr: gaster and dess are in a place, or situation that seems very similar to the absolute zero state if we see the game through the interpretation you proposed (which is awesome btw) outra coisa: pqp como é gratificante ver br fazendo esse tipo de conteúdo!!! There's a lot more I have to say about deltarune and there's even a lot of stuff I wrote for this video that I've since changed my opinions on (like how I think there could be a strong case made for there being relations between light and cold in deltarune and that it doesn't have to necessarily be opposite to it just because it's also connected to dark) but the reason I made this video was mostly because I thought cold was really overlooked in favour of the more in your face elements of the game like dark and wanted to bring attention to it and have this video act as a sort of base for other people to make more elaborate and specific theories of their own about it so I won't be making any new theory videos until I think up something I think is meaningful about other aspects of deltarune I feel are underappreciated. Also the process of actually making the video took up a lot of my time so I don't really wanna go through all that unless I have something I think is actually worth doing all that for again :) I do plan on making utdr animatics in tha future tho,,,
