Parents bought a teenage me an Encore acoustic about 30 years ago. It's still going and survived being strung with steel for a while because I thought that would be cooler :)

My first guitar in 1979 was a black Encore Stat with gigbag, strap, cable and amp. Got it from my Mum's Kay Catalogue which then was kinda like Amazon but with HP, You would pay a few pounds every week. So if the item cost £50 you would end up paying £100 for it over a year or so. Anyway I had a cool looking Encore strat, I found playing very difficult and was about to give up. Then my friend got a new electric guitar (have no idea what make it was) and I played it... IT WAS A REVELATION, MY PLAYING WAS 200% BETTER. That Encore guitar was a total pile of shjte. The amp was a joke that guitar was atotal waste of money it cost me about £250 in total which was a lot of money to me then. So I hope these new Encore guitars are a lot better now.

Cant say much for encoure but i have a vintage which must be about 10 years old, plays great, its had a set up and is ok, dont know if i like the les paul shape, its not the easiest to sit on your lap.

@@pads-zr9ln You obviously know their made by the same company? JHS they are responsible for the Encore brand now but I don't think they have always owned Encore like they have Vintage. The Vintage brand have more attention to detail and better appointments on them. The V1, R6 both made by JHS's Vintage and we're extremely are extremely popular. There are Vos R6's and V1's that have been released and released as 'vintage old standard ' indicates their popularity. Encore though, I think they are make or break a musician instrument. If you can get through the pain of having to learn on one and become proficient at playing it then your gonna make it lol.

A Marlin that I had to play upside down because I'm left handed. I had a Rapier before that but really struggled with it. Their murder to play upside down but the Marlin enabled me to learn how to play although I took some flak off the other students I stuck it out and it stopped eventually.

Pulled my Encore les Paul out from the cupboard for the first time in a good 10 years. Was a kid when we got it but picking it up now it feels like a proper good solid guitar. I nearly spent £500+ on getting a new guitar to start practicing but now I’ve give a good look at the old encore I think I’m just gunna use this till I feel I can justify getting a big name guitar

I had an Encore Les Paul just like that in the late 90s. Wish I’d kept it and saved up for a decent amp instead.

Mate in the 70's and early 80's it was either an Encore or a Marlin. Do you remember those? Some of them were Dogs but you did get the odd Diamond in the rough. They were Strat killers of their day. Cooler than the Encore because it had that Rail pick up in the Bridge. Kids can be cruel eh? Your on here so i presume you still play? I wonder how many of those piss takers stuck it out?

I have this guitar and I think the body is regular size (I mean every Les Paul style guitar looks small, even the official ones) but like any begginer/cheap guitar it has 22 frets instead of 24.

What's the fastest way to destroy a beginners' desire to learn to play a musical instrument?? Give them the worst, cheapest POS instrument that can be made !!! They will get so depressed they will never try to play again EVER !!! Oh yeah, make certain they never get any help trying to learn music at all !!! And make sure you absolutely destroy their will to learn by constantly reminding them that, no matter how much they practice, they'll never be good enough to play anything !!! Better yet, just don't have kids....that way you won't be bothered hearing them while they're trying to learn (at least the kid will appreciate you for it!!). Did this happen to me.....close....very close.

Ur exaggerating this. I have the exact same guitar as this man, encore les paul, and i have the lust to play at even 3 a.m.

Haha.. you sound very frustrated! I think, if its a cheap piano, guitar, drumkit, or whatever... if the music and will to play is not in you it will never come out!! And if you are lucky after the hard work to afford something better, you will feel satisfied, and appreciate the instrument much more🎉
