Many thanks! That was an excellent explanation and solved once and for all the doubt I had. Therefore, to be mindful is the goal, meditation is a means to achieve it.

Great explanation! I have a question, what should I do when the meditation makes me more aware of physical pain? Sometimes when I focus on my sensations I can only feel the parts of my body that hurt and it's very distracting

A question I wanted to add was when practicing mindfulness, say outside, I try to become aware of surroundings and sounds and sensation of the wind etc. But then It all seems boring after a while, and I think what is there to look at in this present moment and the mind gets back to internal thought stream, what should I do? Should I just Be aware of feeling of boredom? And then what

The point is to get your mind back again and again from thoughts to the moment and try to really feel every little detail as it it :D

Paying attention to reality can seen 'boring' at first because we are so used to being spoon fed 'entertainment'. We're unused to the pure mental excercise & it feels uncomfy, just as excercise can feel uncomfy & we'd rather lounge & scroll. The discomfort manifests as a kind of restlessness. Notice that, too, & accept it. Keep noticing & accepting whatever arises with curiosity & without judgement. So, yes, be aware of the feeling of boredom, & keep beeing aware of whatever else arises. I find practising outside can be helpful, because the environment/things noticeable is richer, even with eyes closed. Practicing in different places can be interesting.

@@helenahandkart1857 yes the restlessness part is actually very true. I think constantly looking at phones have conditioned my mind to be always engaged passively and in turn made a habit of zoning out. This would be a good practice to undo that. Thank you

I have a question. I was doing meditation before I became a father, and I was really feeling calm. But now after becoming a father even though I do meditation I am nit getting the level of Calmness. Is this due to wrong meditation techniques?

Its normal. You focus your attention on your child now. Just think about how many people are jealous of that or how many couples cannot have children....this is an amazing thing that happened to your life and keep meditating or also talking to a psychologist if you have any concerns. You can do it and I'm very happy for you.

Kabat-Zinn in his book "Whereever You Go There You Are" has a chapter about being a father, and there he talks about how he combined meditation and childcare. Good luck😅

I like your app and your videos, but I think I disagree with your definition: "Meditation is simply practising becoming more mindful". Meditation includes many other forms, and mindfulness is just one of them. I’m thinking for example yogic or Daoist meditations, visualization to see Pure Lands (Amitabha Sutras) or to see the true dharmas that constitutes reality (Abhidharma). One may not believe in those, but seems to me better to include them of the definition of meditation to promote dialogue between different practitioners, or just try other ways for a few months and see what happens.
