The Saturn version was a HUGE improvement graphically......but what pissed me off was the lack of a roaring crowd on big dunks. Sure, that was only added to the Genesis & SNES versions because of the the reduced voice overs they had, but I LOVED to hear the crowd on those dunks, so playing with a silent crowd on Saturn makes me say the Sega CD version is the best.

@@sharianderson3068 I can totally understand that. It makes sense. Sound is very important but I'm a graphics whore. You know how that goes... I have the genesis version as well and I do really like it, but the Saturn version takes me right to the arcade. Sega either way.

I got both versions of the game along with the Super Nintendo version. If I remember correctly, this game's getting the Arcade 1-Up treatment. I hope it has the Mortal Kombat characters (which I hear the home versions don't have). This game is definitely awesome.

The NBA Jam games were fun. I'm not a fan of sports games at all and my brother an I played the crap out of these games, we had them on both SNES & Genesis at one time or another. Is College Slam as good? Never could find that one.

SEGA CD loading was slow but its not where near todays games on ps4 they load for ever it takes me like 6 to 7 mins just to start GTA 5 crazy and Tecken 7 is so slow in between fights it is unplayable

Would you consider doing a What's The Difference with Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII Remake (at least, the first part since they're releasing it in parts)? Maybe to give a general impression on whether it would be worth someone's money to dip into the remake even already knowing the story with so many people having played the original.

I have changed my mind. I actually like the Cart version better than the CD version. The soundtrack on the Sega CD version is amazing but....... The Genesis version you can break the glass. It has way more announcer voice samples. The music is also good on the Genesis version. The Sega CD version should of had more or atleast the same announcer voice samples. It bothers me that they took out " Here's The Tip". The Sega CD version isn't a bad game but the Genesis version is better.

I always heard that the SCD version had less dunks than the genesis version. Did you find that to be true? I never played the SCD, so I was never able to compare but I recall reading that in reviews before.

Excellent video. The one thing I would disagree on (owning both games) is that I feel like the commentator is a little more animated on Genesis, as in says more things over the CD. Yes the overall sound is bette on the CD versionr, but the Genesis appears to say a little more.

The Sega CD may have clear sounding voices but I feel like it doesn't have as many lines as the Genesis version (and the Sega CD announcing sounds more 'robotic' in tone). Also, if I remember correctly, you can't break the backboard on a dunk in the Sega CD version like you can on the Genesis. Or at least I remember when it was released trying to and I couldn't.

This probably sounds a bit daft, but I actually prefer the music in the cartridge version. And “he’s on fire!” sounds much cooler on the cartridge version as well (the intonation is different, and I like the slight pause between “on” and “fire”).

It’s disappointing when these conversions just add sound and some FMV. The Sega CD had some serious graphical abilities they could Italian here. In the arcades the characters scaled depending on where they are on the court. This could have been implemented here and would make it pop a lot more.

There were a lot of missed opportunities with SEGA CD games. Looking back, I don't feel like I Malta much by sticking with regular Genesis and making the move to N64.

Sega CD versions are hit and miss sometimes, and nostalgia is different for everyone. I remember being disappointed with the Golden Axe CD version.

This is a good example of one of the big issues with Sega CD. Most games are just lazy upgrades of the Genesis version with better sound. Sega CD had hardware scaling, so why not have the players scale like in the Arcade & 32-bit versions?

NBA Jam on Sega CD was clearly the superior game, albeit not without it's issues what with the annoyingly frequent, long loading times, along with my favorite player at the time in Charles Barkley missing from it. The Super N.E.S. version was also not half bad, save for one fatal flaw, which was no in game music however though.

It's fascinating how the Sega CD offered a ton more when 16 bit games were high in popularity. I was watching something a while back on youtube about the rail shooter Mad Dog McCree and was really surprised how incredibly low budget it was. The most expensive thing that was part of the game would be the town (which to my understanding is still standing today). It's unfortunate that the Sega CD feature didn't really get a whole lot of exposure compared to the SNES and Genesis. Part of it I think was the cost for the feature and how many games were available at that time. Overall, great insight on this one! I had a Sega CD Attachment for my Genesis but leant it to a friend of mine. I had no use for it since I had no games for it. lol.

What a waste the sega cd was 🤦🏾‍♂️ Sega was the king of wasting resources .! Instead of releasing a sega cd. They could have slapped more ram in the genesis, and a bigger color palette and more ram & audio Channels for cleaner sound. The release the svp chip as a lock on cart and a year earlier with all games with a 3d engine should have been able to utilize its capabilities .!
