I am loving this series and just want to repeat my dream watch TV show pitch: "Jack Forster Tours the Watch World" , an on-location watch show where Jack will pay a visit to Switzerland, Germany and Japan to explore the best, most beautiful and innovative watch brands, interview the people behind them and share his vast knowledge of horology with the world. I'd be happy with a KZbin show, but with the travel appeal, some great cinematography and Jack's charisma, I could honestly see this being a hit on Netflix that would get a lot of people excited about watches for the first time. Just my two cents, love your work, looking forward to the next one!

In terms of technological advancements as far as movements go, I'm surprised very few people seem to talk about Spring Drive in Grand Seiko. It's such a fascinating piece of technology! Hopefully I'll own a snowflake one day...

Jack, that was pretty funny! Sometimes the watch community needs to laugh at itself. A bunch of tightly wound guys and gals memorizing nomenclature of anachronistic objects all need a bit of levity in our lives. Plus you always educate. You would have made an excellent professor in another life. I love this series!

Functionally an Op can do everything the explorer can do as the first “explorer” was actually an Op that went up Everest but you can’t go wrong with either choice. Matters what dial and hands you prefer

Just one point regarding the first question - unlike Jack, I think the Submariner is a bit 'more timeless' (if that's even a thing) than the OP39. The reason is because, for me, the OP39 looks a bit more like a victim of the large fashion watch trend that was popular when it came out. I think the OP36 is the most classic choice, but that's just me. The 39s are nice as well, and have a few special dial colors.

Say, Hodinkee, this escapement you are referring to already exists in the mechanical world. Frederique Constant has the monolith escapement to tickle your fancy. :) That said, I don't wear watches for looking at the exact time. I'm OK with an approximation of the time. So for me, the most relevant innovation would be the producer that manages to make gaskets, oils and movements to absolutely maximize the service interval. 25 years would be lovely.

Meteorites come in three flavors: Stone, Iron and Stone-Iron... most wristwatch meteorite dials are sliced from an Iron meteorite, mostly cheap NWA-classified, once polished these Iron meteorites will show the Widmanstatten pattern, which can only be produced by millions of years cooling of the Asteroid it came from...

@@WatchUnwind hey, thanks for picking this up ☺️. I’d love a video on the topic form somebody who definitely is way more expert than myself. By the way, I’m not sure why HODINKEE states nothing has changed in horology. Well, I actually think 2021 has been a pretty exciting year. Another great example is the Calasys, the new movement from Vincent Calabrese. The guy is a genius and one of the most important living watchmakers on earth. His new movement ditches the Swiss lever, has close to zero friction. Nonetheless, nobody talks about it. Just wondering ☺️
