Now that I am a man, l must do the things real men do. Kevin, you have been a real motivation and inspiration to me. As an elementary teacher, I have completely changed my wardrobe and wear only suits to work. Some of my 9-10 year olds are asking their parents to buy them ties so they can look like me lol. Many are even asking their dads to wear suits. I wear suits EVERYDAY and the only time I wear jeans is when I am going to a Hawks or Falcons game. Heck, if I had suite seats I would wear them to those.

for all of you asking about suits in the summer...the answer is a linen suit with a linen dress shirt. Yes, a bit more expensive and the shirt has to be ironed/pressed, but if it was so easy, everyone would be well-dressed in the heat. Linen breathes and is comfortable. If the linen is not comfortable or scratchy, it's a cheaper linen. I've been wearing suits since i started my business 9 years ago, here in Texas, and linen is the way to go.

True. I was blessed enough to have had a dad who, in his 87 years on the planet, never wore blue jeans. He thought it was an epidemic, and someone needed to do something about it. He wore suits, dress pants and for really casual occasions, he wore shirt Jacks (Cuban style 4 pockets). I wear jeans on occasion, but you are right, the way people treat you is very different when you wear a suit. I went to traffic court in a suit. The judge thanked me. And yes, I won. 😆

@jj47k. I dont know what the context of your statement is, but I noticed some people on this forum have an issue with following "a European man's wardrobe." If these people are wearing sneakers and sweatpants, those both were invented in Europe (rubber-soled sneaker in England and sweatpants in France) so almost everyone is already following "a European man's wardrobe" if that's somehow important to someone. But seriously, who cares where something comes from if it gets the job done the best. The best car Ive ever driven is from Germany, the best hat I've worn is from Equador, the best rum Ive tasted is from Jamaica, the best shoes Ive worn are from Italy, the best cigars Ive ever tried are from Cuba, the best TV or camera I've ever used is from Japan, etc.

I'm going to start wearing a suit not just a dress shirt, tie, and some good shoes. I want to push my fashion to the limit. OAN suits do display power, masculinity, and that you're about your business. Case in point: if anyone ever been in court notice how the judge treats a man who walks in there with a suit on compared to a man who just walks in there with polos, baggy jeans and Jordans on. I have and it's night and day.

I would say get a fitted sports coat you can wear it far more often than a suit. I agree with the suit being the most masculine clothing but a suit should be left 24 hrs after being weared so it doesn't loose it's shape. Unless it's linen or cotton unstructured then you can probably wear it all the time.

Look for sales at stores like Jos. A Bank, Men's Wearhouse, whatever you can afford. Start with one suit at first (navy, charcoal or a medium grey). When they have special sales, they usually have 3 dress shirts and 3 ties for a good price, and don't forget a good pair of dress shoes with a matching belt.

@@KJ-bp1lo so, i tried around a little bit and found out what works for me. My all day fit includes an elegant pair of "dress" boots, dress pants (with a belt), shirts/ polo shirts (turtlenecks in winter) and a good dress watch. In my opinion that let's me look more masculine and "grown-up" without looking like my frickin teachers. I highly recommend using that kind of dress code until you hit like 28 or attend a job that would suit a suit (like working at a bank etc.). Of course the age thing various on your the age you look like, not the age you actually are, but i think 28 is a good breaking point.

Women have appropriated masculinity to the point where there is nothing a man can wear that a woman does not wear......apart from the suit. Its probably the only thing left. And its not entirely their fault: fashion companies just market the same clothing items to all age groups and genders, so everyone just ends up wearing the same thing. I bet you, that as soon as it becomes a thing for young men to wear suits on a day to day basis, we're going to see women wearing suits and ties too!
